I liked this but not as much as I have liked other short stories from this author. My favorite parts were those featuring the new medical examiner. The plot line made it seem as though everyone expected her to be sort of slow but she’s very bright and very interested in every part of her job. Her husband though, now he did seem slow witted in some ways.
That threw me off. Smart people are not usually attracted to foolish people. Other than that the story was interesting. I like the idea of the black rings quite a bit.
If it turns out that more stories feature Abi Brenner, I will be very interested in reading them.
Very dark book shot by Patterson. It was interesting and takes place in Napa Valley with a new medical examiner, Abi Brenner who discovers some mysterious deaths that seem to be related to toxins in wine. Enjoyable and quick with an unusual Patterson ending.
I love the way James Patterson writes, so I almost always rate his book as 5-stars. But the ending to this story really got to me. I didn't see it coming until the very end.
Wow! I did not see any of the plot twists coming in this one under the rapid fire last few chapters! But the ending?!?!?! Please tell me this storyline has a follow up!
