This is a strong sequel to the first story. The independent heir to the throne finds his Cinderella in rags, only to find that she is more than a match for him, and a princess as well.

Great action and secondary characters. This author always provides a slow build-up for the romance and sex scenes, bubbling but never boiling over. The HEA is nicely done.

I will read the next one.

I read this sometime in 2005 or 2006 and remember liking it. It's a sci-fi romance and part of a series (#3). The heroine was a princess on the run from her life (and future husband) and takes a job flying a space ship for the hero. Of course, her family is hunting for her and the hero has a secret of his own...Very nice!

The plots of romance novels are built upon coincedence... although I suppose one might argue that its fate instead.
Anyway, having stolen a space ship and run away from home Tee'ah (see, she has an apostrophe in her name, she's totally from space) she just happens to run into the heir of the known galaxy (or whatever). And they, um, fall in love.
Did I mention that they ride on a motercycle?
It wasn't that bad a story, just not terribly deep and none of the characters really pulled me in. Bits were just a little too goofy and some of it was a little too dramatic...
but it was totally readable.

Some years have passed and Rom from the first book and his human wife, Jas, have settled into ruling the Vash Nadah empire. Now it is Jas' son, Ian, who as Rom's heir must carry the torch. Ian is on a mission out in the frontier for Rom to learn what is going on in these far reaches of the galaxy. He needs to prove himself to the Vash that he is worthy and he wants to have Rom's well-done as well. Ian has found some disturbing evidence that the Vash Nadah has let things slip so conditions have gotten bad, but as he tracks facts and rumors, his ship acts up and he can't seem to keep a pilot. An earth senator is also investigating something on the frontier and Ian needs to track him. Thus, he hires a mysterious female pilot who, sadly, can't seem to hold her liquor and has her own reasons for avoiding a Dar security force.

Princess Tee'ah Dar is stifling under the traditional royal role and only wants to be a star pilot. When her parents take away her wings and push her toward an arranged marriage, she escapes to the frontier and finds herself as the pilot of a smuggling crew. Slowly she realizes that the captain, Ian, is the Vash heir to the throne and she needs to get away from him if she doesn't want to get dragged back into her old traditional Vash role and lose her freedom. But, losing Ian hurts as bad as losing that freedom she craves and besides she wants to help him with his mission.

Just as exciting as the first book. I enjoyed Ian and Tee's story. They face sabotage, intrigue, and then a huge decision from each of them. The world of the story, the larger cast of familiar characters, the strong and engaging secondary romance, character growth, and of course the romance all came together so well.

The second book in the Star series by Susan Grant. Tee'ah is a royal princess of Vash Nadah and expected to marry a royal prince and to live in seclusion. But "Tee" wants freedom to live her own life. So she escapes and ends up on Donavan's Blunder where she is hired on as Ian Stone's pilot. Ian is really Ian Hamilton, the heir of the Vash Nadah throne. He is undercover for his father in the frontier. When his pilot dies he is forced to find another to take his place.

Scifi Romance is one of my guilty pleasures. This is one of the better ones I've read. I will certainly look for more of Susan Grant's novels. The story was fast paced but not too fast and the characters were likable. There is not too much technical talk so it was easy to understand. I find this to be a fun, enjoyable read.

An extra star in my rating just because the heroine buys feminine hygiene products! Ever notice how women in romance novels don't have to fit saving the universe and shagging the hot guy around their periods? It bothers me. She also buys birth control "just in case" ... which stops me, the reader, from throwing the book across the room in irritation when I see the inevitable accidental pregnancy plot. Usually futuristic/sci-fi societies are depicted as having ridiculously advanced technology but apparently getting knocked up from unprotected sex is still the norm? It's wonderful to be spared that nonsense.

Fun book with a really great hero. Susan Grant's writing isn't lyrical and her stories aren't completely unique, but she puts the whole package together quite well. She's a good writer that knows how to move her story along nicely while building romantic tension. I've read two books of hers and have liked the characters, strong women and men that are sexy without being neanderthals. In this case the truly likable, honorable hero bumped what might be an average book up to above average.

This book seems shorter than Star King but it did deliver quite a punch.
Heir apparent, Ian Hamilton, is following an Earth senator, in the frontiers but circumstances require him to find a pilot quickly.
Tee has earned her wings sneaking out to learn how to fly, but when her father forbids her to fly she decides to change her destiny and she runs away… with a star cruiser.
She lands on a frontier planet and has to ditch daddy’s starship… she needs to find another ship to fly and Ian finds her..
Along the way, Gann finds someone he didn’t know he needed, while trying to find a runaway princess. Lara is wary but crumbles.
They all end up on Earth and somehow Ilana, telecasts Ian and Tee proclaiming their love for one another after Klack tries to challenge Ian for the heir’s position… and fails.
Interesting times indeed.

So romantic!

I love reading books by Susan Grant and this is another brilliant read from the series. The romance is steady and so real, and there are a few other couples as well that I hope we get to hear more from someday soon! Very nice sci-fi romance with lots of easy going descriptions to recognise and get you into the worlds.

It was an ok read and even though Ian and Tee were likeable, I just feel the "I Love You" came a bit too abruptly. And I get why the Vash would be a bit leery of making an upstart "Earther" the Crown Prince and successor of the most powerful leader of the Federation. So would I, given our history and current issues!

Another enjoyable Susie book! I liked this one - I liked Ian and I like Tee'ah, and I really liked the little side plot with Gann and Lara (please, please, please Ms Grant comment on this in the next one) and the good thing about Grant's books is that her 'second book in the trilogy' never feels like that. My only grievance was with Rom's weird behaviour - one minute he was telling Ian he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, the next he was ordering him home like a naughty child and then in the next he was congratulating him for a job well-done that involved defying orders. It was weird and Grant didn't explain it well enough. Nonetheless, that's an aside to core story, and I really like how Grant's manages to 'borrow' from our sci-fi (predominately Star Trek, in my view) without making it feel as if she's ripping them off, but rather is telling her own stories. A good fun read!

Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Susan Grant has knocked it out of the park with The Star Prince, the second riveting release in her divinely entertaining Star Series, and she totally rocked my world - again! I love science fiction, adore action/adventure, and simply can not live without a daily infusion of romance, but when I find the perfect combination of all three in one great book, I'm in heaven! And fortunately for me, that's exactly what Susan Grant delivered with The Star Prince. I'd never even heard of Susan Grant until last week when I came across a promotion from Amazon offering The Star King, the first release in Grant's Star Series, as a free download. After reading the blurb, I was more than a little intrigued and decided to give it a whirl. I freely admit I'm a sucker for a bargain, but I've actually found quite a few great new authors by taking advantage of these promotional offers from Amazon. And I was stunned! As soon as I finished The Star King, I raced back to Amazon and discovered there were two more books available in the series, The Star Prince and The Star Princess. I'm sure you already know what I'm about to say, right? Yup, I bought them both. I'm very passionate about books and have been since I was only four years old sitting on my father's knee while he read me a story every night of my life. I'm now 64 years young and in the last 60 years, I've reads thousands and thousands of books, too many to count, but I don't just read books, I devour them! After reading the first book, I knew I'd hit the jackpot and Susan Grant claimed a spot among my top ten favorite Sci-Fi Romance writers. To say I was impressed with Grant's extraordinary talent would have been a huge understatement. It became immediately evident that Grant is an incredibly gifted storyteller, exceptionally skilled at creating detailed and vividly depicted worlds, then populating them with strong, engaging characters who literally explode from the pages, capture your imagination and steal your heart. Now, after reading a second book, The Star Prince, I wish to amend my statement. Susan Grant has moved to my list of top five all-time favorites authors - of any genre!

But I digress, so let's talk specifics about The Star Prince. The story is imaginative, unique, exciting, thrilling, intriguing, fast paced, well crafted and exceptionally well edited. The dialogue is smart, seductive, well executed and flows effortlessly. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with clearly defined multiple perspectives. But without a doubt, the pièce de résistance of this story, as well as my favorite component, is the magnificent cast of strong, fascinating and well developed characters. I was totally smitten with the two protagonists, Ian Hamilton, the handsome highly moral heir apparent and human stepson of Vash Nadah King Rom B'kah, and beautiful pilot and feisty runaway Vash Nadah princess Tee'ah Dar. And once again, Grant gives us a perfect pairing of hero and heroine, both strong, courageous and loyal. They compliment each other brilliantly. The attraction, passion and sexual chemistry between Ian and Tee is absolutely captivating and so hot it sizzles! I found myself transfixed by the story of these two unlikely lovers from different worlds, both bound by heritage, duty and honor. But no matter how hard Ian and Tee fight their attraction, they soon realize, no matter the cost or consequence, once two souls connect, fate can never be denied. I was immediately drawn into this story by Grant's relaxing, realistic style and after only the first few pages, I was once again glued to my chair, white knuckling my ereader with the pages flying as did the time, held captive and utterly enthralled with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest....and loved every single minute!

Former Air Force fighter pilot Jasmine 'Jas' Hamilton has finally found happiness and made a whole new life for herself with her true love and husband, alien royal Rom B'kah, the King of the Vash Nadah. It's been seven years since their union and Rom has defied eleven thousand years of tradition, not only by taking Jas as his wife, but by also choosing Ian Hamilton, Jas' twenty-five year old human son by her first marriage, as his heir apparent, despite there being several eager genetically qualified young princes in line for the throne. Needless to say, his decision has left more than a few galactic royals very unhappy. Ian feels the pressure to prove himself worthy of the faith his stepfather has placed in him. Fortunately, fate this day is on Ian's side when a beautiful mysterious waif boldly saunters into the bar and he discovers she's actually a cargo pilot. It must be his lucky day - or not! Twenty-three year old Princess Tee'ah Dar is tired of being told how to dress, what to eat, what to do and whom she must marry. As long as she doesn't disclose the secret of her true identity, everything should be fine, right? Well, maybe not since Ian may have a few secrets of his own! Oh my! Buckle up and let the games begin!

When reviewing a book, there are several questions I always ask myself to determine my rating. First did I like, love or hate this story? In this case, that's an easy question. Quite obviously, I loved it! The Star Prince is a well crafted, easy to follow, beautifully written, sexy sci-fi romp filled to the brim with heart-pounding action, spine-tingling adventure, heart-stopping danger, gripping drama, gut-wrenching angst, heated attraction, fiery passion, steamy sex and heartwarming romance. Quite simply, it's an all you can eat buffet for thrill seekers, action junkies and alien lovers who need a liberal sprinkling of romance thrown into the mix, and with this book, you get it all and then some!
Second, was there anything I didn't like about the book? Quite frankly, not a darn thing!
Third, would I recommend this book? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some exquisitely written love scenes. And yes I said love scenes and not sex scenes because there is a difference. Although the scenes are explicit, this is not what I consider erotica.
Fourth, will I read this author again? Abso-freaking-lutely! As I said, I've already purchased the third book of the series, The Star Princess featuring Jasmine's daughter, and The Champion of Baresh, the first book in Grant's brand spanking new spin-off series, Star World Frontier. I can hardly wait to get started on both!
And finally, was I entertained? Good gracious, yes! I was totally entertained, from beginning to end; so much so, I couldn't bring myself to put it down, reading well into the wee hours of the morning to finish all 402 pages! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

A mixing of two worlds through love will bring universal change.
Tee’ah is just unbelievably naive and wilfully stupid at first.
Her behaviour is asinine. She knows nothing of life on other planets and agrees to using nearly all her credits for one job. Then she drinks whiskey like it is water. She could have easily been sold into sexual slavery.
Once past this beginning silliness the story becomes a fun and entertaining ride.
Ian is trying to be something he is not to live up to being Rom’s named heir. He does learn that he is a man of two worlds and that is who he should be with the woman he lives by his side.
We also get some side fun with Lara and Gann but no HEA for them. Yet.

Exceeded my hopes

I was hoping for a little space adventure with Ian, the son of Jas who was featured in the previous book... what I got had a bit of whodunnit with decent red herrings, adventure, and two people who in very different ways were trying not just to find themselves but to figure out balancing other people’s expectations with their dreams and hopes.

I loved that Tee had determination, not only her own mind, but a good head on her shoulders, and cared about more than just herself.

I'm on the fence about how I feel about this book. At first, even though there were moments that I didn't care for, I was invested in the story. Then, I just lost interest. I think that the female love interest withheld information for too long, and I started to dislike her. I also have no interest whatsoever in the male love interest. He seems fine. I bet he would be a fine ruler, but I'm not really the kind of person who would want to date a prince. These people are just too normal, maybe. Anyway, while I wish them the best, I don't care enough to finish their story.

Great follow-up to the Star King. Jas's son Ian Hamilton is named heir to Rom's throne but meets with a lot of dissent from the Vash who feel an Earth-dweller is not qualified. Tee'ah, Rom's niece, isolated like most Vash women, decides to opt for freedom and escapes before a marriage contract can be signed with another Vash prince. Of course, the two meet up somewhere on the frontier, not knowing who the other is, and their adventures begin. Another highly entertaining tale from Ms. Grant.

A princess is supposed to be sweet, demure and submissive. Tee knows that she does not fit that mold and decides to go find a square hole into which to plunk her square self. Is it a good thing that she runs into the one rule-following man she should not? I love how the not-so-princessy princess inspires the rule-follower when and how to break rules. (Shame on you, Tee!) I really love the proposal scene! (Sneaky sister - you so need to get payback!)

Very Entertaining

Susan Grant did an awesome job of story telling with Star Prince, book two of the Star Series. The main characters, Ian and Tee'ah, heir to King of the Galaxy, Rom B'kah and Vash Princess of the Dar family, navigate through the galaxy incognito in a delightfully bizarre and forbidden adventure to unite the Federation of trade with Earth for the benefit of both. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

What a fun, adventurous romance! Even though the fate of the galaxy may rest on them, the individuals shine brightly here. It’s very easy to relate to the characters here, and to cheer them on through their mishaps and successes. This is technically sci-fi, but it is so very real, you won’t notice!

Sweet dreams!

This book is a perfect follow-up to "Star King." Ian and Tee are star-crossed lovers who fight the universe to find their way to their destiny. Gann and Lara and a scruffy cat also have their own journey. All in all, this book is a great read. Enjoy!

Ian and Tee are a power couple, fated mates and a truly amazing team! I loved their story and looking forward to the next installment with Che and Ilana!
