She’s a nurse, not a spaceship pilot. And why are aliens so damned hot? Nurse Jac’s life is boring. It certainly doesn’t include aliens, unless they’re on TV. But then the shit hits the fan and she finds herself on an alien ship with her charge frozen into a giant blue ice cube. What’s a girl to do? Kiss the hot alien, then knock him out of course. The problem is, she can’t drive a car, never mind fly an alien spaceship. Which is a problem when hostile aliens board the ship… Go to earth. Find a woman. Bring her back. Simple. Rynn is an assassin. Normally. Now it seems he’s a delivery boy. Sent to earth to retrieve a sick female, he’s anticipating an easy trip. If he spends a little time getting to know the local culture… well, that’s just a perk of the job. Right?Human females are fascinating, especially Jac, the sick female’s nurse. He’d thought the warriors who’d fallen for humans had defective genes. But Jac is something else. Tiny. Delicate. Beautiful. HIS. When an attack puts them in danger, he escapes earth with not one, but two human females in his care. What could possibly go wrong? Apparently… everything.
Mina Carter is a New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of romance in many genres. She lives in the UK with her husband, daughter, a puppy who pays no attention to her whatsoever, and a bossy cat.
Rynn, the emperor's assassin is tasked with going to Earth to bring back Lizzie Kallson (Jess's twin). He ends up having to bring along Lizzie's nurse, Jac as well. He's very tempted by this human, but doesn't believe himself to be worthy of claiming her.
I don't know that I agree with the title here because there's very little adoring going on. Rynn may claim to want Jac, but he treats her like absolute shit. First he kidnaps her, which he more or less apologizes for and there's not much he can do about it. But she takes her chance to fight back, incapacitates him and inadvertently calls for help to a purist faction of Lathar who take Jac and Rynn prisoner. Instead of trying to see things from her perspective and why she would have done what she'd done - he just gets pissed off with her and blames her for their circumstances (real nice guy). Then, he figures she owes him sex since he's not trapped on his enemy's ship. He takes what he wants, she loves every minute of it and then he treats her like crap from then on. And unfortunately, Rynn's feelings regarding the heroine's role in their capture and the death of Keris, never really gets resolved and he never really talks about it with her.
Now maybe if our heroine had been strong and gotten herself a righteous case of anger, I might have been okay with this. But she sits around near tears, cowering in a little ball and taking whatever abuse he heaps on her. And somehow she comes to realize she loves him. Does she stand up for what she wants? No. She lets him warn off all these other guys, come use her for sex at night and then not doing anything to claim her. Then, instead of standing up for herself, she sets up a little farce choosing and waits for him to come claim her. Then of course, he explains that he felt so dishonored by his own birth circumstances (being oonat born) that he didn't feel he deserved her...so that gave him the right to treat her like a piece of garbage.
Also, the whole oonat thing is pretty damn gross. If we believe this race is simliar to humans, then the Lathar are forcibly impregnating their women and taking their children away from them to be raised as Lathar. If we believe they are more similar to cows, then the Lathar are basically having sex with their livestock and getting their cows pregnant. So it's either enslavement or bestiality. Eew.

❥ 𝑱𝒂𝒄 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ I liked her.
❥ 𝑹𝒚𝒏𝒏 ࣪⋆✮ He is badass and funny - loved him.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 Again a good book in this series. This one was funny, action packed and had likeable characters. It picks up directly after the previous book and I‘m glad we got Rynn as a main character. Jac and Rynn were great together and I liked both. Their banter was funny and Rynn was so obsessed with Jac.
𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤? Yes, if you‘re in the mood for a funny and tension filled alien romance.
𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 ᡣ𐭩ྀི₊ ⊹ possessive and protective hero, forced proximity, instant attraction, secrets and lies, alien romance, science fiction, kidnapping, alien spy x human woman, he falls first and harder, mates
I've enjoyed this series, which I've read over the course of the last week. It's fun and I like the actual romantic relationships, but something that has bothered me immensely, and I had hoped would gradually begin to change, is the treatment of the oonat. This book was the worst. I hate that they are referred to as cattle. I hate that the are used for breeding purposes. I hate that the main character in this book thinks less of himself because he (he doesn't call her his mother, but just basically refers to her as someone who carried him to term) is oonat born. I hate, hate, hate that this author hasn't sometime in the last 5 books begun some kind of story arc where the oonat are freed and the attitude toward them gradually changes to become more enlightened. I intend on reading the next book in the series, in the hopes that I'll see something good happen.
I so love this series Sci Fi is one of my fav genres and I love this series. This 5th book was good bur for me it kinda fell in the shadow of the other books in the series.
I enjoyed the characters mostly even though there were times I would have gladly smacked our heroine. *smiles* she pushed the limit of sassy to the max.
Jax just got to go with it yeah, his super hot spy, assassin life that he and everyone know he's good at, gets rocked when he meets this adorable human.
Sparks definitely fly and doesn't have necessarily had to do with love, situations get tense as we follow our main couple around the "courtship" How will it end?? beside the kissing and hot and heavy with a gorgeous alien? grab it read it and enjoy.
I loved this book, and I loved Rynn. But for the first time in this series,I utterly detested the heroine, Jac. I'm sorry, but I couldn't get past it when she hurt Rynn, then stupidly called for help, getting the enemy instead, causing Rynn even more pain. And it was a little hard to believe he forgave her so quickly. I found that after what she did, I couldn't forgive her, or like her, the rest of the story. She almost ruined it for me. But thanks to the rest of the story being so good, I still enjoyed the book. In spite of her. Still plan on devouring the rest of this wonderful series.
I totally love any of the books in Mina Carters Warriors of the Lathar and Lathar Mercenaries series. These books are automatic one-clicks for me. The women in these series are strong. If they don't start out that way they certainly become that way. The men are hot. They love their women and are totally dedicated to them. The stories are well written and flow nicely. There are few if any typos. Sometimes the British colloquialisms throw me for a loop. The characters are all very different and there's no mistaking one for the other. They don't merge into one in my mind. Locations and scenes are described so that you can easily picture them in your mind. Each book has it's own HEA for the main couple but there's always a little something that let's you know that there will be another book to follow. I just wish that the stories were a little longer.
So, a funny thing happened. I was zipping through these one after the other, I mean, its aliens so what's not to like when, in the 5th book, I recognized a theme/redundancy that I'm NOT a fan of. These women are so damned weak! As soon as an alien touches her (no matter if she's afraid of him, angry that she's been kidnapped or pissed because of some other reason) she melts like butter. She doesn't stand her ground and many descriptions are that all her thoughts "went out the window" as soon as he touched her, especially if he touched her in that very special place. Um, what is wrong with these women? This is ridiculous -- the implication that women can't control themselves, especially over some peen? Um, no!
Xaandrynn (Rynn) has been deployed to Earth on a secret mission...return with Lady Jessica's ill sister, Elizabeth, to be treated by the Lathar Healers. What can go wrong???
Well he could stumble across Elizabeth's carer, Jac, within the local pub and tell her he's an actor when he saves her from her drunk ex. But when he turns up the following day claiming to be a doctor...well that'll be him busted then! But just when he tries to explain himself rebel Lathar strike and he has to get Elizabeth and Jac to safety.
Rynn is NOT your typial assassin. Sure he is deadly, silent and shadowy but he is also personable and friendl (when he wants to be) and let's not forget sex on two legs handsome! Jac, well I took some warming up to her I must admit. Not quite sure what rubbed me the wrong way but I liked her eventually. She does seem to be her own worst enemy by rashly believing she knows best! Maybe it was the fact that a certain AI kind of stole the limelight! I want a Keris!
All your other favourite characters make cameo appearances too. I love Daynaal and his continual war with a certain Marine. I was sad that Jessica and Elizabeth's mum was left behind but I'm sure she'll appear eventually. I have my money on her hooking up with Rynn's dad...we shall have to wait and see!
Xaandryn oh I've been waiting for his story! He's going to retrieve Lady Jessica's ill sister in hopes their healers can help her. He's going in and her nurse Jac Wright is coming along. He never understood the draw to mating with human women...defective genes he thought. Although he cant deny they arent interesting. He's truly captivated by Jac.
Jac knows something is amiss but doenst know quite what. She's a little spitfire. This is supposed to be a simple mission but all hell breaks loose! He might be hot but he's definitely lying about something!
Okay I have to admit I was confused by Jac's character. She really wasnt consistent throughout the story. We got no real interactions with the other characters like in previous books. This one seemed just different. A little disappointing because I've loved them all. So, this has to be my least favorite. We dont know why authors go in certain directions or why characters do the things they do but alas its not our story. I look forward to reading more because I do love the series. This was kinda in between for me. Liked it but didnt love it. I wanted more from Jac to not just sit there and let him treat her as he did.
I really thought this was going to be Xaandril’s story but it is his son Xaandrynn’s book. A really enjoyable and entertaining read apart from the heroine’s stupidity though it did give us a bit more story. Found Rynn very likeable and he was very emotional at times especially for an assassin. There was no coldness unless he was fighting. But I felt sad about the loss of Keris, I was hoping he would get another Keris on his next ship. Want to know how Elizabeth gets on and what happens to her and whose mate she will end up being? Daynaal maybe. Was really getting into this until Jac does the obligatory TSTL action and endangers everything due to ignorance and stupidity. I will not give any spoilers but needless to say my respect for her was gone from that point on. All the misery her actions caused lay square on her shoulders and I didn’t feel any pity for her. I would rather have a strong sensible heroine than someone who acts rashly and without thinking things through or asking questions. Loved the match making idea. Sign me and my friends up. I really hope Ms Carter writes both Xaandril and the emperor Daynaal’s stories. This is my honest review of this book.
Xaandrynn or Rynn for short is sent on a mission to retrieve Lizzie the twin sister of Jessica mated to Laarn the healer, nephew to Lathar Prime's ruler Daaynal. He has to blend in as they really do not want the humans to know they can come and go as they please , and because he is a master of his craft he does just that well sort of, maybe they do need more information on human customs. Jac Wright has been helping look after Lizzie and her mother part time since Jessica left and her other job as a bartender is where she meets Rynn and the attraction is instant for both of them. Rynn is on a schedule and when he goes to retrieve Lizzie he finds Jac there, but the purists have followed him are a dead set on stopping Lizzie from going to Lathar Prime. Rynn has no choice but to take both females with him to his ship and head for home but he did not count on Jac being able to knock him out and get them in to all sorts of trouble with the purists still following them. I really love the Warriors of Lathar books and cannot wait to see who will find their human mate next. A big thank you to Mina Carter for the entertaining review book. Highly recommend this series.
Rynn is the Emperors Shadow and the son of his Champion. He has been tasked to bring back Elizabeth, Jessica’s twin sister, to Lathar. He didn’t expect to be bring someone else along. Jacqueline or Jac as they call her, is Lizzie’s nurse and works nights at a bar. She has been watching Lizzie get sicker. She hopes there is a cure. Rynn not only takes Liz but Jac and then things start to shake up.
I guess if Rynn would have told Jac who he was and what he was doing there, perhaps certain events might not have happened. That is more a should have, would have. But the attraction is from the moment he catches her eye. Rynn thinks he is no good for her because of his linage but that is foolish. And Jac thinks he has no true interest in her. Always at odds but always hot in bed. I love these alien’s. We just need to see Kenna and his father Xanndril get together and especially Lizzie since she is now on the planet. Im sure they will be able to help her.
Xaandrynn or Rynn is the best spy and assassin in the Lathar empire. They called him the emperor's shadow. ...... a boogey man. He was being sent out on a mission to recover lady Jessica's twin sister and he can not fail. She is sick but her dna may also save his people. Jac wright has been working 2 jobs just to try to make ends meet. One job is helping Mrs Kallson (lady Jessica's mom) take care of her sick daughter. The other daughter was taken by the aliens (lady Jessica) and now Mrs Kallson us sick too. Her second job is at a bar. Lots of action, drama, spice, mystery, intrigue and more in this awesome story. I loved the characters. They are awesome. I couldn't put it down. It's a great science fiction romance. Don't miss it Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
Spy, assassin, the emperor's shadow...these are all names used to describe Rynn. He's the one the emperor calls for "tough" jobs. Collecting and delivering the Lady Jessica's sick sister should be a simple assignment. Right? Wrong! Rynn didn't count on Jac. The last thing Jac expected was to find herself kidnapped by an alien...a sexy alien. I think this may be one of my favorites in this series. I loved Rynn. While he may have been a success at his "profession", deep down he had self-doubt just like everyone else. Will this doubt keep him from claiming Jac?
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
'Adored by the Alien Assassin' is the 5th book in this series and is considered a standalone sci-fi romance but you will get the most enjoyment from the series if you start from the beginning with 'Alien Lord's Captive' due to the stories and characters are all linked together. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and falling in love with the Warriors of the Lathar and I really can't decide which one is my favorite!! The only thing I hate is that I read Rynn and Jac's story straight thru and couldn't put it down!!! Now I have to wait for the next one and have no idea when the next story will come out!! 😫🙈
I really enjoyed this story. It was a quick, easy read as everything flowed really well. I was pulled in from the beginning and really enjoyed the characters. Rynn and Jac are great. There is some action and intrigue in this story. More of this takes place off of Lathar as Rynn was sent to pick up Lady Jessica's sister and Jac ends up along for the ride. This was an entertaining read and I really enjoy this world and the characters. I can't wait for the next book and to see what's going to happen next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I so enjoy the sci-fi romances by this author. She always has such great stories with intriguing characters.
Xaandryn is drawn to Jac when he meets her on his mission. He brings her back home and has a hard time denying the connection. Jac is not sure what to make of him and the feelings that have developed.
I loved the chemistry between them. You really feel the heat. Xaandryn has his insecurities that make it hard for him to acknowledge his feelings for Jac and open up to her. They make a great couple.
Jac is the day caregiver for Lizzy, Jess's ill twin sister. But that is another story. Rynn recognizes Had as his mate, but he doesn't believe he is worthy. Jac clocked him in the back of his head and got them captured by some purists. Well, Rynn is a shadow and he has to prove it. He doesn't think Jac will want him because of it. Wrong! Read how the women bring him up to claiming Jac. Insecurities are a bitch. I love and recommend this series. It is awesome!
Imagine this, a very tall handsome specimen; alien to be exact or Lathar as his kind are called wearing a pink shirt stretched tight across an expansive chest. Would have to be a man quite comfortable in his own skin right? That's for you to figure out. As always the heroine of this story is an average lady who isn't stereotypically size 5, but has a street smart attitude. Now pair the two up, and you have quite a box of fireworks! Oh, and the passion as always is out of this world! Mina Carter is rocking with this series! Onto the next!
I feel almost like there's a plot in this series, but they're not really getting there very quickly, are they? The pacing on this one's kind of vague, as usual, with plotty things happening and lots of sex happening and a resolution being reached by action of the emperor, who doesn't seem to have much else to do besides manage the sex lives of his subjects. On some level I feel like there's an actual science fiction series struggling to get out here, but it's not struggling very hard - this is basically quickly-written vaguely sfnal romance.
She help take care of lady jess twin sister whose in a coma. He came to earth to get the twin sister so her husband the healer can help her. He ended up with 2 females when they were attacted by other aliens trying to stop him. Big misunderstanding, getting boarded by the same aliens who attacked and getting to his home planet. Even though he'd ignored her during the day, warned the others off of her, he'd cared about her. With the help of the emperor and her new friends he came around and claimed her
An adorable story! Xaandrynn and Jacqueline (Jac) make quite an incredible couple. Each is drawn to the other, but both have doubts about their desirability as a mate. In the midst of transport to Lathar, Jac makes a horrendously bad decision, with high costs for Rynn. Will he ever forgive her? Their crazy dance continues when they reach Lathar. I love the shenanigans, and certainly love the outcome. Read and enjoy!
This certainly wasn't an "Adored" book. The Assassin, Rynn, was more raw and ravishing than adoring to Jac. I loved how hungry he was for her even when he couldn't express it right. Jac was trying to stay balanced as her world went from crappy to OH NO they didn't! It was a fabulous blend of a hot romance between the two. Not to mention the danger getting from the beginning of the story to the end!
I absolutely adored this story! It is full of action, the plot is well developed and the characters are easily relatable. Jac is a strong and independent woman, so it makes sense that she would be attracted to Rhynn who could pass for a Viking God. I'm curious about what happens with Jessica's Mom and frozen sister and hope they will get their own story soon!
I love the Lathar series, this one is about the empires shadow or assassin who is sent to earth to get the twin sister to the empires lead healers wife. Yes I know that was a mouthful. The twin is sick and is being retrieved at the time that she is being taken care of by Jac, the shadow sent in to retrieve takes them both and well things get crazy on the way back. Great book need my next fix already.
I kind of got used to MC's gentle love at first sight H's that chase their ladies and fight for them. To be honest Xaandrin just seemed like the biggest jerk. He's ok sleeping with her, but she's his dirty little secret once they get to the planet. It's my own fault I should have read the blurb better, because I really hate the "oh I'm not good enough for her so I'm dumping her" story line, it's the single most annoying one in this genre.
Adored the Alien Assassin book 5of Warriors of Lathar SERIES by Mina Carter
So glad Rynn got his own story and Hea. This series has been wonderful to read, each book adds more dimension to this entertaining and sexy goings on in the lives of warriors and the human women that they encountered. I'm highly recommending that you get her entire series cuz you're going to enjoy it totally!!!💟💟💟💟💟
