this was definitely more of a filler book, as not much really happened, but was still a great read (listen) regardless. i love the addition of a new main character, noor, and what she's brought to the story. while she wasn't present for a lot of the book, i still found her quite likeable. i also think the romance between her and jacob actually makes a lot of sense, and i'm surprisingly liking it. i didn't think i would because i was quite disappointed when him and emma ended things, but here we are i guess. i just think noor makes a lot more sense for him to be with and they have a lot in common, so she understands him more than emma and the other peculiars do, which makes them a good fit for each other. also side note - her name is noor, which means "light" in arabic, and her peculiar abilty is light-related lol. love that.
anyway. like i said this book was quite filler-y and i'm not gonna lie i'm already forgetting what happened for most of it lol. i will say though, i really like jacob and i think he's such a good main character. he (and the rest of the peculiars as well) is always ready to fight and help the ymbrynes out, even when it is a danger to him. he understands how significant his peculiarity can be in helping out and always steps up when he needs to. on the other hand, there was a lot of introspection in this book about his position in the peculiar world, and his internal debate about returning to the real world or not continues. the way that ransom riggs handles that topic is so well done because i can understand both sides and am also at a loss as to what what jacob should do.
with the way this book ended, i'm excited to jump into the series finale, although very sad to do so, because afterwards i will have no more miss peregrine books to listen to ☹️ it's gonna be hard picking another series to audiobook after how amazing this one has been, but i'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts.
