Dark Obsessions #2

Working for It

Rate this book
I have done everything in my power to get him to break his veneer of outward control: ruffled panties, frilly stockings, and a girly voice sweeter than my cherry perfume when I comply with his orders.

I have never worked this hard for a man in my life.

Who turns down a girl desperate and begging for it?

Just who is Slade Danvers?

**
When we met, I was surprised at how much I had in common with a man twice my age. Done with his playboy ways, Slade was ready to settle down with someone unconnected to the sordid life of the club he owned. I seemed like his perfect Babygirl.

Maybe I was a little too perfect. I would rather explore all Slade’s world has to offer than settle down right away. Despite his best efforts to protect me from its hidden dangers, I find myself at the center of the club’s intrigue. Can Slade keep his heart safe as I choose who and what I want?

Kinky, queer, erotic romance writer here. I'm a huge fan of writing about the ways in which we use kink to create our own narratives and relate to others.

I was the kid who got in trouble at school for writing steamy stories on notebook paper folded into those tight triangular footballs for ease of passing around in the halls. I wrote everything from lemons, to sexy dreams, to the choose-your-own adventure sexcapades.

Now I write steamy romance, because sometimes, it's really beautiful when an intense chemistry leads to a happily ever after (or at least a happy for now).

I can't promise you that my characters will make good choices, but I can promise you a surprisingly thoughtful and wild ride.

This is the second book in this series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Sparks fly between Slade and Sadie; he is ready to settle down with his baby girl but she has further things she wants to explore. Will they stay together? Fast-paced, hot read with lots of chemistry and steam. I liked it.

“The Safe word is “Safe word?”

Slade Danvers is the owner of the “Dungeon.” An exclusive popular BDSM sex club. Slade uses a dating app. He is looking for a woman he can love and have a future. His match is twenty-eight year old Sadie. A graduate student and twenty-plus years Slade’s junior. They are immediately attracted to each other. However, Slade is apprehensive to be involved with someone so much younger than himself. He doesn’t want Sadie to waste her life with him. Sadie is definitely attracted and wants Slade to be in her life very much. She doesn’t mind the age-gap and wants to have a relationship. Sadie is frustrated when Slade pushes her away when she wants to have sex with him. I loved this book. It was sexy, romantic, and funny. I loved the character of Sadie. She is smart and sweet and is underestimated by Slade and the others in the Dungeon. They soon catch wise and fall in love with Sadie just like the reader does. Slade is just a divorced man looking for someone to love. I loved that. The writer gave Sadie and Slade a heart and soul with real feelings. They weren’t cookie-cutter sex workers etc. This book is very hot and sexy and is explicit at times. However, not too much. Lol. It also has a lot of heart. Also, did I mention this book is also funny. There are moments where I laughed out loud. I didn’t expect that. Lol. I loved that about the book. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and will not be the last. I will definitely look for more by this author. I received a complimentary copy of this book. F/F and F/M story with lots of heavy breathing and a little follow-through
Erotic story of a younger woman and an older man looking for a closer relationship but having trouble finding the right one until they find each other on a dating site.
This was a quirky and often fun story about a young woman who is tired of men who don’t appreciate her or what they might have together. Sadie is a 28yo woman working on her MBA and hoping to open her own business one day. After another disastrous relationship she decides to use a dating site to find someone. She finds 49yo Slade, owner of his own BDSM Dungeon which he describes as the “Main” one. Will he live up to his own hype? Slade has been burned before so he is very cautious with this budding relationship. Will his approach work? He has an enemy who only wants to hurt him. Will they succeed?
This was a relatively short arousing, lusty and passionate telling of Sadie and Slade along with Keltie a female with whom Sadie likes to play. I believe their story is continued in the next book. I enjoyed this book but it was enough for me in this storyline. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.

It's been a while since I have read a purely erotic book just for the erotica perspective. I wasn't disappointed either.

Having met on a dating app, Sadie and Slade find out almost right away that not only are the chemistry between them out of control, but the compatibility of their personalities makes it nearly impossible to even remember that there is over a twenty year age difference between them. Slade owns a BDSM club that he doesn't try to hide from Sadie - something that got major points in my book, and she falls almost seamlessly into her role as his submissive, without even trying. It was a hot, hot story with a sweet relationship built in that kept me from wanting to put the book down until my eyes were shutting on their own.

The only thing that I would have liked better would have been less Asher. Honestly he just felt a bit like an add on. Maybe in the whole series it would come together but reading this book as a stand-alone he just feels like filler.

This is a steamy love story that falls more on the romance side than the erotic one. There's a lot of foreplay and the characters are emotionally intimate a lot, but the actual act doesn't happen until almost the end of the book. This book can be read as a standalone, since it doesn't end on a cliffhanger per se,but I think it does have a book that goes before this one.

Sadie and Slade met through internet and they clicked instantly. She's everything he's been looking for in a partner, and he has the maturity her previous dates lacked. Their chemistry is evident, but do they have what it takes to have a long-term relationship? He's not interested on a fling, and she's young and still exploring. can he keep her interested? Can she get him to open up?

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

The D.S. Dane provided me with an ARC of Working For It for my reading enjoyment. I decided to share these thoughts regarding the experience. This was a fun read. I love a good brat and a Daddy who can own their baggage.....well okay ......maybe not....guess you will have to see for yourself. The garbage from previous entanglements leave several of the characters in this book in unusual circumstances. D.S. Dane did an outstanding job of grabbing me and I was hooked by the story and the participants from the onset. If BDSM and angst with steam and all that entails are not your genre or curiosity then you might want to read something else. But, if kink and Power Exchange are appealing to you this is a book that I would suggest you grab and enjoy.

Sadie is busy working on her MBA, running a bar and hasn't had
a lot of time for romance or relationships. She finds Slade on a
dating app. He really falls for her but doesn't tell her. She is
throwing herself at him but he does not have sex with Sadie.
It seems they need to discuss a lot of things which they will
come clean with each other and their prior relationships. They
work a lot out and I eagerly look forward to reading #3 book.

This is a great book and one you should try if you like age play
stories.

Excellent Read!!

A must read for lovers of real life character depictions. Sadie and Slade are unconventional perfection. Sadie is a young woman looking for a real man. Tired of all the young, think-they're-cool-but-aren't type boys she meets Slade. Slade is an older man who happens to be the owner of a sex dungeon. He has had his years of meaningless fun and wants a babygirl to call his own. The story takes on a journey of sexual and emotional exploration. 'Not Working For It' is a best read.

This is a second book in a series but can be read as a standalone. This is an age gap romance and has a bit of a DD/lg kink.

I liked Slade and Sadie overall. They had chemistry but it took awhile for them to really click as a couple for me. There biggest problem for them seemed to be not being completely honest about what they were thinking or feeling. Slade also seemed to be hung up on Sadie's age.

I was interested to see how they ended up and it definitely had it's fair share of sexy scenes.

This was the first time I've read this author and I really liked the story and the characters. The story was about a divorced man who was a manager of a BDSM club and he wanted someone to finally settle down with and found a much younger graduate woman who was sweet and innocent. This book was totally steamy and sweet as well. I really liked how the characters interacted with each other also. I can't wait to read more stories by this author. I received a free advanced review copy of this story and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

This is an erotica at its finest. I pretty much like everything about it. I like that it’s fast, it’s hot and there’s a relationship between Sadie and Slade.
I don’t like that there’s a hint of a love triangle. I don’t mind the FxF action but I would have liked more communication between Slade and Sadie and I hope that they will stay together.
All in all, a great book with great storyline and great action scenes. I love the ending and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book in the series.

Slade is ready to settle down.
He has a date with Sadie
He runs a dungeon and is a daddy, she is young and wants to explore the lifestyle a bit more.
Yes she is bratty and yes he corrects her behaviour.
The book covers the ups and downs of life including those around them.
Will they stay together?
Enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more by this author.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by D.S. Dane; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Age is a number not to be confused with maturity. Sadie may be younger than Slade in years but she is smarter and full of sassy promise. I love Slade as a daddy dom. He is sweet, stern, and exactly what she needs.

I really like the main characters and it is a good story. I just wish there was a little more conclusion. I have so many questions about jobs, living situations, and the many different relationships and how they are all related. I would definitely read another book about these characters to get the answers. I liked it, just left me wanting more.

This was an incredibly HOT book. Lots of kinky situations. The dynamics between Slade and Sadie were so passionate. I loved how they related to each other. I had a little trouble following the story-line, which is why I reduced it by one star.

HOT! HOT! HOT! Great Book. It's Slade and Sadie's story. Good storyline with great character development. Sadie is a bit younger than Slade, but I could picture them together in the dungeon. A must read!

I read this book to have more context for the second book. You don’t have to read the first one to understand this one. I think the only thing the author can do to make this better, is for the author to show not tell as much.

My first foray into the Daddy type book and overall was pretty good story.

I really liked Slade from the beginning. He seemed like a normal guy who happened to own and run a dungeon.

Slade knew what he wanted, what he wouldn't put up with and had a few bad relationships and now finds himself looking for love on an app.

Sadie seemed pretty forward from the beginning which was ok. She knew what she wanted but then as the story progressed I found her to be a bit of a brat, selfish and had double standards.

Her relationship with Keltie was one I found to be bit puzzling truth be told. She was open that she did swing both ways which was great but for me, seeing her outside the club was being dishonest to Slade and I felt sorry for him as he seemed alot more invested than Sadie.

The ending kind of came on out of the blue really as i felt there was more to this story.

I received this free copy in exchange for an honest review.

New to me author D.S. Dane piques my interest with this Dark Obsessions series. I especially like the Daddy Dom in this story. A big fan of this in real life, it is interesting to see how an author creates their Daddy Dom. I can definitely state, Slade is a deliciously created Daddy Dom who is right up my alley. The way he explains how it works to newbie Sadie is spot on. Their interaction from the get go is so good to witness as it is clear these are two well adjusted adults who get on with their kink.

I really liked reading this book, it was a good length not too short or long and was paced well. The representation of different kinks was done really well. Sadie's character was very interesting and unique. Overall, I enjoyed the book but I would have liked to see more of there relationship in a non-sexual manner, to show the ddlg lifestyle more.

This book was unlike anything I have ever read and I mean that in a good way. While I knew some of what I was getting into, at the same time, I didn't know what I was getting into (lol). I really enjoyed the relationship in this story, it was refreshing.

This book is part of a series. It ends in a happy for now kind of way but the further development of Sadie and Slade's relationship does continue in the next book. In this book you see how Sadie and Slade meet and fall for each other. We also see a budding relationship of Sadie with Keltie and what effect that has on Slade and Evan. It was a fast read and I enjoyed reading it and was eager to read the next book in the series to see how it story further developed.
