Разделената на осем части ( космосът и религията; математика; наука; медицина и психология; философия; политика; икономика; изкуство, архитектура и музика ) систематизирана информация ни припомня теории, идеи и мисли на велики умове. Това е малка енциклопедия в която може да намериш всичко, или по-точно казано "Всичко, което НЕ може да не знаете!", както гласи подзаглавието изписано на корицата. Последната част - изкуство, архитектура и музика, лично за мен беше най-интересната и любовпитна като съдържание.

The perfect book to read on a plane or waiting for a plane in an airport. But I was not reading it near a plane, so it is s a shallow and quick overview of huge and complex areas: science, math, astronomy and religion (not sure why there were together), medicine and psychology, economics, politics, philosophy, arts (this part was the most problematic since it did not contain samples of art styles and tried to use text for that that I do not think it is a good idea). You need thousands of pages to go through all the topics covered in a short book, so I understand that the objective of the book was a quick and relaxing read.

A reader may get a general idea of the topic, but he will not know the topic in depth. Sometimes the writer is biased and his discussion of ideas is not organized well.

This book brings together all the developments of 20th centry , in a way that is a quick read and by the end of it you will simply see how much mankind evolved over the time. It did give me a good content to reflect on the economic behavior and what sort of political strutucture should be treated as fair, Democracy is bad among the worst choices we have of all the political structures. I would definitely recommend it for a quick read and to understand the developments in different fields and how they changed the understanding of the world and lead us to this connected world today as it stands today.

حسناً ، أعتقد أن هذا الكتاب ينطبق على الشق الأول من هذه المقولة حيث يعرض الكتاب عرضاً موجزاً لا يخلو من المتعة حول أشهر الأفكار التي شهدها عالمنا بدءاً بالأديان وتغيرات نشئتنا مروراً بالعلوم وتطورها ثم السياسة والاقتصاد والطب بأبرز ملامحهم وأخيراً الفن.
كتاب لطيف لمن أراد معرفة نبذة مختصرة عن بعض الأمور خارج نطاق اختصاصه بدون الدخول في تعقيدات أكاديمية وبالطبع لا يكتفي به حول أي فكرة إن هو إلا مفتاح ومن أراد الاستزادة ينطلق.

In the past, there are just so many things that were amazing yet hurtful at the same time. Yet, they seemed necessary throughout the journey of a growing civilisation, maybe? But, if that's so, why does each of the glowing 'tipping point of the century' seems so challenging to all? Fear? Adaptability? Instinct? Hhhmmm... I don't think that I'll get an answer for now. Or, is there even an answer?

"The Little Book of Big Ideas" is exactly what the title suggests. A good read if you already know the concepts, but lacking in detail if you are looking for a serious understanding of each big idea.

Pros:
- Well organized and good choice of concepts
- Contains a fairly descent choice of quotations
- Includes more contributions from non-Western cultures (less Eurocentric)

Cons:
- Not in-depth
- Lacks illustrations
- Require knowledge in many fields to enjoy the book

I couldn't finish the whole book, sorry. I guess it's ok if you want to look up a term and get a general idea, but in reality, in doesn't offer any actual knowledge. Each topic is only 1-2 pages long so don't expect an in depth analysis. I can't waste my time reading vague terms I'm already familiar with. This book is completely redundant and honestly, I expected more.

A good book to start with to broaden your understanding of things. Each topic is elaborated briefly but at the same time sufficiently to introduce layman readers to the subjects. It also gives hints on where to look further if you have specific interests in particular topics. Unfortunately, some explanations sound driven by opinion or at least a bit judgmental—this was not what I was expecting for such a book. Anyway, I had a good time reading this book, and I’m sure it helps me find more to look into.
