WOW! What a book! I don’t even know where to begin. I guess the first thing I have to say about Sorry Can't Save You is sorry I haven’t read it before now. Sorry Can't Save You pulled me in from the beginning and once it had its hook in me I was lost. The descriptions were so vivid that once it got its hook in me I forgot I was reading a book it felt so real. It was as if I was standing with Laurie as she visited each home. It was as if I was looking through Laurie’s eyes. I like to imagine that I saw it as Laurie did.
Laurie’s husband Ryan went to war and came back a different person. He is suffering from PTSD. Laurie and Ryan live on the base with their two children. Ryan starts spending more and more time away from home.
When their neighbors start committing suicide Laurie is suspicious especially when she sees her husband’s truck at the home of the victim's. When no one believes Laurie when she tells them that she thinks her husband may have something to do with their deaths she starts an investigation of her own as she is becoming more and more afraid of Ryan.
Sorry Can't Save You had me guessing from beginning to end as to what was actually going on. Every time I thought I had it fingered out I was hit with another twist that pulled me in deeper. I don’t know at the times I was left with my mouth hanging open I was so surprised.
That ending had me doing circles. I was like what? No way! You’re kidding, right? That didn’t just happen? I am still asking myself what happened. I’ll have to say I loved it as it was so brilliant. Sorry Can't Save You is one of the most amazing stories I think I have ever read!
I highly recommend Sorry Can't Save You to all mystery and suspense fans. One-click your copy of Sorry Can't Save You today to begin this epic suspenseful journey! I can’t recommend this book enough. I would definitely give it more than five stars if I could.
A bit slow in the beginning but it picked up. This was a pretty quick read. It wasn't my favorite Willow Rose book, but I still enjoyed it. The big twist at the end was fun!
Twisty! Exciting! Addictive! Thrilling! Suspenseful! Keeps you guessing! Everything you could want in a psychological thriller with a HUGE, unexpected twist!!!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
I can't say I loved or hated the book. Kinda just meh. Really slow beginning... picked up maybe midway thru. Most interesting was probably the last 50? Pages or so. Had at least part of the "mystery" figured out by page 160. Figured out the next at the same time the detectives did and and my last question was answered and it all clicked. It was a good twist.
Willow sure knows how to tell a story! Just when I think I have the ending figured out, she throws a curveball in to throw us off. I'm not going to say much more because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but this is a great book!
"Sorry Can't Save You" by Willow Rose is a spine tingling stand alone story. Laurie Davis, who is recovering from a beating and gunshot wound, is telling Special Agent Jonathan Cane and Sheriff Detective Victoria Grande she believes her husband Ryan Davis, who has PTSD, is responsible for the deaths of the people who were thought to have committed suicide, in his last squadron when he came home his last mission. The story is believable even though the police have discovered 2 other bodies who were not suicide. She told them her and her friend were reading a book in a cabin when her husband had attacked and shot him and then came after her. After he shot her she was then able to get the gun and shot him. Detective Grande said she was free to go after she was released from the hospital. Special agent Jonathan wanted to see what book she was reading and then arrested her for murder. The ending of the story is one a person will never guess. It is such a good story and there is some very pertinent facts in the story that is important for all to know and realize.
All I can say is "Wow, I didn't see that coming." This is a terrifying novel about a serviceman with PTSD and his formerly loving wife. The wife is now afraid of the serviceman and thinks he may actually be a murderer. And then the story starts taking unexpected jolts.
Interestingly, almost the entire story is told by a woman who is being debriefed by detectives after she was assaulted and rescued by police from an isolated cabin in the woods. The debriefing takes place in her hospital room.
One of the underlying story lines is real - that 1 in 3 military women are sexually assaulted while in the service. This by itself is horrible and needs to be rectified.
Great read, very well written. The story is violent and has sexual content. It was very frightening to me. I recommend this book only for mature audiences. I highly recommend it for people who like suspense mixed in with a police investigation. I think it's one of the best books I've read this year.
Author Willow Rose has done it again! She is adept at taking realistic situations and wind them into a page turning thriller that you just can't put down once you start! We begin with Laurie in the hospital after being attacked. Laurie's husband, Ryan has now returned home from deployment a different man as did others in his unit. His PTSD had made him angry, combative and violent and he is a stranger to her. With so many suicides and divorces in his unit especially after Ryan visits them, something seems strangely wrong to Laurie. FBI Agent Johnathan Caine and Detective Grande have come to believe Laurie's story that something is very wrong. Could Ryan be the reason so many of his squad were dying? With so many twists and turns and changes in direction, you are carried to an end that will absolutely blow you away! I received and ARC from the author, but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own!
Oct 29.. SORRY. CAN’T SAVE YOU..Willow Rose FBI Jonathan Caine , requested to go to Bryson, North Carolina. Laurie Davis the only survivor not looking like her photo, now laying in a hospital. Husband Ryan was on his fifth deployment. When he came back he wasn’t the same, now with PTSD, and how does one handle that. The changes Laurie could see in others from her husband’s unit, the suicides, the divorces. FBI agent and Detective Grande believe her story, she would soon be leaving the hospital with clothes the technicians brought from the cabin. She lost weight and the pants were too long. FBI agent found a book that she had been reading at the cabin, and know knew the truth of what happened. Amazing plot, you are convinced, until the end. The author has once again woven a compelling story for us to read. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
I did NOT see that coming! Wow, I thought this was a fantastic book. The characters are compelling, and realistic. You have Laurie, the wife of an Air Force officer that loves her husband, but begins to suspect that he is responsible for the deaths of members of his unit. Ryan and his unit have returned from from the war, they are all changed, but he is suffering from PTSD which has changed him in sometimes frightening ways. Then there are the FBI agent who is at the end of his career, and the local detective who is young, ambitious and determined to solve the murders quickly. These are just some of the many well written characters in this book. There are so many twists and turns in this plot that it was impossible for me to put this book down. I think this is an absolutely riveting, must read book, and I loved it.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Laurie Davis was assaulted in an isolated cabin and rescued by police officers. She is being debriefed in her hospital room. Laurie's husband Ryan has been deployed five times and is now home on leave. He is suffering from PTSD. He has a temper and has anger issues. Is unable to live with his family. He goes to visit squad members. There is always a suicide after he has been there. She is wondering if Ryan is a murderer. How will she handle this thought? This story will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are many twists and turns. Willow will hook you in the beginning, reel you in, and not let you go until the end. .Come along on this ride. You won't be sorry. I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
The story begins with Laurie being debriefed in the hospital. She has been shot and beaten and rescued by the police from a cabin in the woods. Her husband, Ryan, is in the Air Force and is home on leave He is suffering from PTSD This book kept my interest from the first to last page. The storyline has so many exciting twists and turns. The surprise ending had me asking myself hours after finishing it, What just happened! If you like a great page-turning psychological thriller, you’ll definitely love this one. This review is based on a complimentary pre-release copy from the author.
Ms. Rose has once again proven that she is a thriller writer par excellence. She is a master crafter who can take a real-life situation and fashion an intricate tale around it. This story is well-written, with strong characters and vivid descriptions that make you feel part of the action. The narrative pulls you in and glues you to the pages, not wanting to put it down. It winds through incident after incident, building suspense, with evidence leading the reader to draw a conclusion. Then the reveal blows you right out of the water! Well done, Ms. Rose! I’m always eager to read your next book!!
Laurie loves her husband, but he is suffering from PTSD and is not the old Ryan she married. In the military, and back from active duty, Ryan and Laurie try to keep their son and daughter in ignorance of his volatile moods. Several of his comrades have committed suicide and Laurie starts to suspect that they have been murdered. As she begins to investigate which one is true the suspense ramps up. It was interesting to follow the way that the characters interacted, with suspicions that were skilfully created to provide doubts in the reader. Another triumph for Willow.
Well, this one had me sitting on the edge of my seat yelling "somebody pay attention". Sort of like when you are yelling at the tv :) I'm not going to tell you I read it in one sitting. It's your normal size book, 340 pages. I can tell you I did not want to put it down and get up to do chores.
I have not read a lot of this authors’ books and she is prolific. Of those I have read I can tell you that the suspense in this one is no different than the others. The tension she creates is something you can feel and the characters she creates so vivid it makes you feel what they feel.
This is an author with a lot of books and great reviews. How could you go wrong?
The suspense just keeps building in this book. Lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Definitely one of my favorites of this year.
Laurie and Ryan seem to have a great marriage, until they don't. He's in the Air Force and returns from deployment a different man. Laurie becomes suspicious when his visits to squad members coincide with their suicides. She's seen his temper and anger since he returned. Could he be a murderer?
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
Overall another great read from Willow Rose., This time in a standalone (possible series to come?) novel that will have you guessing up to the end. The story as usual has an element based on fact My biggest distractor was due to the fact as an Air Force retiree some of the book jarred upon reality. This will not be noticed by non vets or current active duty, but if you are take some things with a grain of salt and enjoy the rest of the story. I received an ARC copy in return for an honest review.
PTSD. It is what it is. Or is it? When a husband returned from deployment a different person and all of his friends from his squad start committing suicide things look suspicious. He has changed but not for the better. When the wife is found beaten in a cabin it’s time to get away. But she suspects too much. But can she prove it? Or can she live long enough to figure it out? Who is killing people and who wants he dead? Read this page turner by Willow Rose. It will keep you up all night. And it will be hard to forget.
What a twisty read. Every plot made sense, then there was a zinger thrown in to change directions. The twist made just as much sense. By the end it felt like you had read multiple books in one. Then a reference was made to change things yet again. The characters were well developed. Couldn't put the book down. The story, the characters, even the scenery was gripping. Tough subject matter though. Think that is what keeps you reading though, wanting justice for the victims. Impossible to put down!!
I really loved this book! A page-turner from beginning to end and what an end!!! One you don't see coming!!!! Wow, what an awesome tale with a powerful insight into military life. I never realized that women in the military faced such hardships caused by other military members. So sad that it happens in our day and time. Thank you, Ms. Willow Rose for another entertaining tale of mystery and for showing the world that there is such a problem in our military. I wish I could've given this one more than 5 stars!!! Highly recommend!!!
A wounded veteran, a loving and supportive wife; two adoring children... What could possibly go wrong?
A thriller like no other, Sorry Can't Save You will lead you down a dark and twisted path; perceptions are askew and what should be right is terribly, horribly wrong. Ryan and Laurie had a picture-perfect marriage, until Ryan came back from his last deployment....
This is such a great book! As are all of Willow’s books. You pick up one of her.books and think you will just read for a little while and before you know it the hours have passed and you need to get to sleep. I think I am positive I have it all figured out and I know who is the culprit, then she throws us a wicked curveball. This is another winner Willow and I can’t wait for the next book! Thanks for writing such great stories!
This story is about Laurie Davis and her husband Ryan. Ryan used to be a kind, loving husband, but his last deployment left him 'not himself'. What happened over there that caused this? But when members of his last unit start dying...suicide something isn't right. I felt like I learned a lot about PTSD in this story, whether it is reflected is truth or not, it is very convincing. I highly recommend this story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This book was truly a page turner. I could not put it down. I could not guess what would happen next. I love Jonathan the FBI agent. The story was awesome.I don't think anyone will be able to figure out what is going on. Willow Rose you are the best writer ever. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. And this is an honest review.
Willow Rose has done it again. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Quite a twist near the end. Realistic characters & plot lines keeps you guessing until the end. As always Willow includes real life experiences and situations, highlighting some of the worst behaviours known to take place but usually whitewashed by the time they become public. You won't be disappointed.
Just finished this book not really sure as it was not my style but do appreciate what the writer has written, the characters are well-drawn out and the storyline was different as the crime coming from a previous book as the FBI spotted but the writer has a good imagination and can churn quite a few books a year which is something I guess but I don't think this was one of her best, unfortunately.
