Theo is an award-winning journalist whose reputation has been shredded to a pulp. Starting a community radio station is giving him something positive to focus on while he comes to terms with what happened in New York City. All he wants is peace and quiet, but Barbara and her family have a reputation for creating havoc wherever they go.

When the mystery surrounding his arrival in Sapphire Bay is revealed, Theo has to make the most important decision of his life. Will he trust the information Barbara has given him or risk losing her love forever.

I enjoyed this contemporary romance set on a lakeside in Montana, but it is the 3rd of a quartet that I am reading out of order and it just felt thin as a standalone. The Return to Sapphire Bay Quartet tells the story of 4 sisters who must live in their grandmother's house in order to inherit it. The sisters decide to stay and inherit, turning it into a inn over the year they must live in it. Each book tells the story of a sister finding her HEA, while at the same time there are a couple of plots that run through all 4 books with important developments in each one. You also learn bits and pieces about others in the town of Sapphire Bay, some of whom have books in other mini-series of their own.

In this book 3, Barbara, a social media and marketing consultant, is working remotely for her San Diego based company while working with her sisters to turn the house into a profitable inn and oh, by the way, help plan the weddings of 2 of the sisters. Theo is an award-winning journalist whose last expose for the NYTimes involving a powerful politician backfired and he was slapped with a defamation suit and the loss of his job. Somehow he ended up in Sapphire Bay (it's never clear) and starts a radio station. When denied grant funding multiple times, he seeks advice from Barbara. Sparks fly, some events occur improving Theo's situation, and suddenly they are both having to make big decisions - stay and be together or leave to pursue careers. You get one guess which happens. Along the way, a plot line involving Terry family history makes significant progress forward. All is set for the final installment as the last sister finds her HEA.

While quite charming, with good characterization, an interesting bit involving town storage rooms packed with abandonned furniture, it's a little too lacking in heat. Nothing hotter than a few kisses and handholding happen - and I'm usually just fine with that but here, it just needed a teeny bit more spice. Also while it read just fine as a standalone, ti really needs to be read while curled up in one's blanket fort over a weekend with its 3 series cmpanions. For example, there's never an explanation as to why the town's Welcome Center (which seems to operate as a community center more than what I consider a Welcome Center) has storage rooms filled with abandonned furniture from past town residents.

I would be remiss not to mention Charlie, the golden labrador belonging to one of the sisters and the radio station mascot, who manages to wear with aplomb his neon pink tutu to the Thanksgiving half marathon.

A Lakeside Thanksgiving by Leeanna Morgan is a 2021 publication.

This is the third book in the ‘Sapphire Bay’ series. I picked this book because the title suggested it was centered around the Thanksgiving holiday. I have not read the previous installments- but hope to go back and fill in the backstory a little someday- but that said, one can glean the gist of things and it is not necessary to have read the first two books to enjoy this one.

Thanksgiving is mentioned several times in this book- but if you are thinking this story is in any way a traditional turkey day tale filled with holiday staples and big families gathered around the table with plenty of side drama- then you would be wrong. In this story there is a wedding taking place at Thanksgiving, and planning time is short.

But the main focal point of the story is centered around Barbara. Barbara is in Sapphire Bay for a few more months due to a sitpulation made by her grandmother. She intends to head straight back to San Diego the minute her family obligations are filled. Then she meets Theo- a local radio station owner who also left the big city -but for very different reasons. It seems like the real deal between them until their big city lives tempt them to return to the frenetic lives they had before coming to Sapphire Bay.

I admit to feeling a little disappointed that Thanksgiving itself wasn't more of a focal point in the story - sort of mentioned in passing, really. There are so few novels centered around this holiday, I had hoped to find one that would remind us to push the pause button on all the Christmas commercialism and take time to be with family and friends- count our blessings, and reflect on who and what is important to us.

But, upon further reflection, the message was one that I get on board with- but I must say this, though-

Putting people before careers, slowing down and taking time to find solitude, to help others, to pay it forward are not exclusive to small town living. In fact, I live in a small town and we are just as guilty of working sixty or more hours in a week as those who live in cities. No small town is as idealistic as books make them sound and both have their unique challenges- but whereever you live- you can still adopt a mentality of prioritizing and finding a balance between work and family.

So, overall, I ended up really liking this story, though it was not exactly what I had in mind. It’s clean, pleasant, and while light on the surface, there’s a gentle, but important message there, too.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Lakeside Thanksgiving: A Sweet Small Town Romance: Return to Sapphire Bay Book 3 is by LeeAnn Morgan. Barbara Terry and her sisters had returned to Sapphire Bay to take their place at their Grandmother’s bed and breakfast. In order to get their inheritance, the girls had to remain on the island for a full year in order to inherit. Meanwhile, they ran the bed and breakfast.
Barbara’s boss in San Diego had given permission for her to work from Sapphire Bay even though it was across the country. So far, her clients and her boss was very happy with her decision; however, she was itching to return to the hustle and bustle of the city.
Theo was an award-winning journalist who turned his back on New York City and filled it with pity. He had written a story accusing the mayor of New York City of crooked dealings and tax evasion. However, the papers proving his theory were stolen from his apartment before he had a chance to send make copies or send the papers to his lawyer. The IRS said they didn’t have enough information to file tax evasion. He was trying to get a radio station going in town but was having problems getting grant money. Barbara helped him get his paperwork in order to at least get a calm reaction.
With trying to arrange a wedding for her sister, helping Theo with his investigation to find more, and helping with the B&B, Barbara finds herself going and coming. When will things settle down, or will they?

Barbara Terry is enjoying working with her sisters to promote The Lakeside Inn, the bed-and-breakfast they recently opened. But she's still not sure whether she'll be sticking around.

Her grandmother's will stipulated that the four sisters stay in Sapphire Bay for twelve months, in order to inherit her house. Now that the inn is open and the year is almost up, Barbara's starting to think about going back to San Diego and her lucrative marketing career.

Journalist Theo Montgomery used to work for The New York Times until he failed to pull off an important expose and lost his credibility. Now he's running the local radio station and looking for funding. His friend Ethan recommends Barbara's social media skills to help him boost the station's ratings and popularity.

It's not long until Barbara and Theo are working together and wondering if their friendship can become something more. But how can romance bloom when Barbara might be going back to San Diego and Theo is still running away from his past?

This is the third book in Leanna Morgan's Return to Sapphire Bay series. Although it can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading it in order, if only to understand the background context behind the inn and the characters' relationships.

Another enjoyable and fun read from this author, however I felt that the ending seemed slightly rushed.

In "Lakeside Thanksgiving," Leeanna Morgan tells the story of Barbara Terry and Theo Montgomery against the background of her sister's wedding. Barbara is the third oldest Terry sister and is very sure she is not looking for a boyfriend. She has a good job in San Diego, California and will return to it as soon as the year of forced residency in Sapphire Bay is over, when they will own the Lakeside Inn B&B, as stipulated by her grandmother's will.
Theo owns and runs the town's only radio station, and strives to maintain a low profile. His activity in New York City caused a scandal and he does not want to be identified by the certain people. When he becomes involved with the amazing discovery of a historical letter, his cover is in danger of being exposed.
I recommend this book because of the good grammar, complex characters and interesting plot that Leeanna is able to bestow on her readers.

Unexpected opportunities and second chances.

Barbara is in Sapphire Bay to fulfill inheritance requirements, Theo is hiding in Sapphire Bay trying to escape the press...they both find far more than they ever expected. Peace, acceptance, hope and a future they could never have imagined is what they ultimately find, but the journey there is a bumpy one with road blocks, wrong turns and unexpected obstacles. It's a journey that tests them but also helps them realise just how special the love they have found is.

Penny and Wyatt are getting married on Thanksgiving and everyone is rushing to get everything done, Theo finally gets the info he needs from his source to end the defamation case and get the mayor arrested. Meanwhile the radio station is growing and accumulating more fans. Theo and Barbara both have to make decisions about their careers, are they going to relocate to major cities or stay in Sapphire Bay. Great read.

My third Lakeside Inn novel and it didn't disappoint. The story line starts and ends with planning for and the wedding of Penny and Wyatt. Learn more about Diana and Ethan. And, see Barbara and Theo fall in love.
Yet, some unanswered questions remain and in order to find the answers you'll need to buy the next book in the series

I love Sapphire Bay!

I'm really enjoying this Sapphire Bay Series. Barbara seems to be the most quiet and introverted sister and the tone of the book reflects her personality. Theo had an interesting back story and the book has a great ending.

This is a quick fast easy to read romance. It is a part of a series but can be read independently. It is really a novella but I still liked it.
