After fleeing Hearthold with a fugitive princess in tow, Damon Al-Kendras finally arrives home. He’s eager to see his aesta and Ria once more after weeks of maintaining a careful, respectful balance between Vel and Kastet.
But as it happens, coming home is just the start. A new enemy lurks in the shadows, one uniquely suited to the task of hunting and killing mages.
When push comes to shove, what will Damon do to protect the women he loves?
This book contains forbidden consensual sexual encounters between the main character and the closest women in his life.

Anya is progressing as an author at a quick pace, and this series shows that. She has great talent in setting up scenes, especially intimate ones, that are unique and exciting to read. It seems the MC is starting to get ahold of his urges, albeit ever so slightly, which shows some character growth, which is nice to see. I really, really, really dislike the reluctance to kill on behalf of the MC and his party. It makes zero sense and actually angers me. People literally are trying to rape, murder, torture, imprison etc , but no, I mustn’t kill them! Ugh! That is almost enough to get me to quit a book on the spot. It is verging on idiotic and self destructive just for a little virtue signaling. Grow a pair, plant your feet, get pissed and take care of business like a man. Removed a star for that and some other minor continuity errors. Like saying they spent their remaining copper, then two paragraphs later saying they had just enough money to buy something else. Bah.
Fantasy magic adult situations elves (Remenai) MC Damon continues promising to act more responsibly, and by the next day, he's ready to break that promise. The cliffhanger from the last book is quickly resolved, and Queen Anise's assassins chase them home, and before the night is done, their home is burning, their horses are dead, and Damon, Malon, Vel, Ria, and Kastet are fleeing for their lives. Plenty of gritty, near fatal escape scenes.
Better edited, though starting dialogue with ellipses is still not a thing. fantasy soap opera fun.
The saga of Damon, Princess Kastet, Vel, and Malon continues This continues the story from Books 1- 5 after escaping capture in a lifeboat they return home to disaster. There is lots of intense action, unexpected plot twists, gripping suspense, steamy romances, forbidden longings, dark cravings, and illicit urges. If you get this book after reading Books 1- 5, be assured the story continues to engage, surprise, and delight. If you haven’t read Books 1- 5, you should definitely read them first. I’m now off to Book 7….
Some interesting changes, some lessons never learned
It's another chapter in the tale done. The MC just never seems to learn though, he's stuck on horndog and the week they won't they with his arsta now just feels like creepfest, especially after it causes strife with his aesta and someone she respects.
I took a break from the book but came back to finish, but I don't know if I'll continue the series. I'll probably try the next book after another break but it's not high priority.
The end? I don't know, as I thought that 2 books ago. This could be a good place to stop, but there is a lot left that could be explored, so I'd be surprised to not see another couple of books.
Writing is if anything improving as the series moves on, although I'd like more maturity and capability of restraint from Damon. Anyway, we'll see where this goes if it does and how long it remains interesting enough to hold my attention.
When we left our less than intrepid band, they were running. And they still run. Great story, a few answers and a few more questions. I question only one result in chapter 40. The rest is good adventuring.
Love the story line, can't wait to see what is in store for them next. Will more assassins show up? Will last get her crown back? Can't wait to find out what is in store for them next.
Damon and company continue to surprise as their adventures continue. Safety is not meant to be. More of Malon’s background is revealed. Once again Damon is unable persevere without the support of the women in his life.
