Trapped like an animal. Shared like a piece of meat.
This alien wilderness is no place for an innocent little human like me. I should have been more careful. Should have watched my step.
Now I’m caught in the hunters’ snare.
Three primitive alien beasts are coming to claim their prize. Three battle-hardened predators with brutal muscles and gleaming tusks.
And I’m their prey.
They’re going to make a meal out of me, and there’s nothing I can do about it. But is that real hunger in their eyes, or is it something else?
I belong to the carnivores now. I’m theirs to toy with as they please. Theirs to use. Theirs to share.
Theirs to devour.
If I should try to escape, they will punish me thoroughly. But if I stick around, I’ll be eaten alive.
And the most shameful part of all?
That’s exactly what I want.
Meat is a dark reverse harem romance with rough, explicit scenes, spankings, and a whole lot of other dirty, dirty stuff. There are also action scenes containing graphic violence. If you find such material offensive, you’ll want to give this book a pass. There is no cheating and a deliciously dark HEA.
I'm sorry but I cannot read a book where the heroes start out wanting to EAT the heroine... and no I don't mean like eat her out, I mean literally eat her. I should've taken the title a lot more seriously...
This was was a strange and weird one which was one of the reasons I wanted to read it I mean I’m partial to all the wacky stuff and this definitely had that in spades. I was also really intrigued with the title and the actual blurb it sounded so different to what's out there.
So initially this started strong and was quite dark with our heroine Alyx an obstetrician from earth traded away to the Nith a race of large alien lizard predators In exchange for Ksh a nutritious food source highly sought after on the overpopulated earth.
After her own crime on earth aiding forbidden pregnancies, Alyx finds herself one of the human cargo bound to a Nith processing plant for harvest. Upon realising her horrific fate she escapes into the surrounding Forrest where she is captured in an Ukkur hunters snare.
Originally slaves of the Nith themselves Krogg, Ravnar and Jale are Ukkur hunters originally thinking she is some domesticated pet they plan to fatten her up and eat her for dinner. That is until another hunger rises instead and they then start to realise she is actually a sentient being like themselves.
So I liked the first half of this more than the second. The writing here itself is fine and this was well written. This has a strong breeding trope at its centre, It’s reverse-harem Sci-Fi and the world-building though it’s there isn’t majorly elaborate either. It’s really just the bare-bones and this most definitely could have been improved on.
This had a lot of dubious consent but nothing really dark as Alyx is really into her 3 new mates. There’s a language barrier, spanking and all sorts of sexy times as these aliens discover just what to do with a women something they all have had no prior experience with.
The second half of this is where this managed to lose me after obtaining their prize and claiming Alyx things for me went swiftly downhill. I really detested the fast-breeding here like massively. Then as this progressed further it all started to feel very rushed indeed add in some lacklustre character insights and I was out. I never felt I got to know any of Alyx’s mates on any deeper level and the relationship that evolved well I just didn’t feel the connection myself.
The finished epilogue though appreciated did feel like a massive gap out of time and the finish here was very unsatisfactory indeed. Especially since the end result was played out against persons originally unconnected to her initial fate, it just didn’t make sense to me.
So yeh I can’t really fault the writing here but the story was lacking something deeper for me and the connection itself was also missing. This really could have been so epic as the idea itself was ever so imaginative. If your looking for quick hot sci-fi fun with some dark themes included to pass the time this could well be a fit. But don’t go into this expecting anything deeper, It basically does what it says on the tin.
So I woke up early this morning and felt like reading something easy, my choice landed on “Meat” and while this is bad it’s actually not the worst book I’ve ever read 🥳😂
This book starts off with obstetrician Alyx landing on a planet with some weird crocodile-aliens called the nith. Human and nith have a deal: nith provides some drug-thing called ksh, and in return they’d get some humans. Alyx escapes and lands naked at 3 other, more human-like aliens called ukkur. (They have claw feet so that would have been a big turn off for me, but hey 🤷🏻♀️😂)
One of them finds her stuck in a trap, upside down and naked. He thinks she is food (because that’s totally logical to think somebody is food when they have a body similar to yourself). But even more, he starts licking her and gets a boner (because thats also totally normal reaction to you FOOD). And yes, she comes. Because that’s a totally normal reaction to the situation 😂
They keep thinking she is food that needs some fattening, all while having sex. And the best part - Alyx get pregnant and have the baby after 2-3 days (because they grow super fast) Her body heals super fast because of ksh, so that’s just super great. They take Alyx back to their village, where there’s only men and nobody has ever seen a female. But the 3 aliens watch out for Alyx so no problem 👍🏼😄
This was surely a strange book. It’s actually one of the reasons I decided to pick it up. That and hormones. And the fact that it sounded a little ridiculous and definitely OTT. It was surely all of that, and I had fun reading this.
It started out strong, but then it disappointed me a little. I am a little mad at the author for that, but if you wanna know why you’re gonna have to read the “rant” section lol. I may still pick up the next book in the series. I’m not sure yet.
🏷️ TROPES & TAGS (possible spoilers):

More on the grey line between dubcon and noncon OM/OW: no 3rd act breakup: no Humans slaughtered for meat (not by MMCs alien race, but another) Graphic violence Mentions of termination of all unauthorized births (on Earth, dystopian world) Eating meat of sentient aliens in extreme situation (they were the bad guys at least lol) Eating of own placenta Birth on page
😤 LITTLE RANT (possible spoilers):
Okay, I thought I was gonna read a book with lots of smut and breeding. We got that, BUT I’m so mad at the author for all the spicy scenes skipped. Like, that’s the main reason I picked this up 😭 and you only give me 3 spicy scenes in which I believe only one is a full PIV scene? Like whyyyyyy.
Also I think all the spicy scenes were in the FMC pov, except for the first one which was just pųssy eating. C’mon, you can’t give me feral aliens with super-sperm for making babies and not let me enjoy some more breeding 😭
If I’d gotten at least a couple more scenes on page, it might’ve been a 4 stars. Because the author is actually pretty good at writing those. But I feel robbed, so… 3 stars it is lol.
End. Of. Rant.
* Fyi about 🌶️ levels: I rate spice on a combination of quantity, quality, length, intensity and explicitness of the scenes. K!nks are listed separately and generally do not directly affect the steam level to keep it fair for non k!nky books.
TW: Bad puns and is this a cannibal kink? Is that a thing? I’m not Googling it.
Not going to lie but it IS weird that the heroes go from “Can I eat this” to “I want to eat it out.”
Especially in this book where it felt like both the heroine and her love interests weren’t quite sure what they are to each other for some time.
It is uncomfortable, if you think about it too much, but the plot is pretty much smut. For me, I was able to roll with it.
However, in retrospect, I have been having thoughts like, That was odd how they went from mystery meat source to love interest they have sexual feelings for. 🤨🤨🤨🧐
However, I rarely enjoy heroine with multiple love interest stories but this really worked for me! Also, even with all the smut, there was still an interesting explanation for the Ukkhurs and I absolutely LOVED the sci fi ending!
This was a weirdly addictive little alien breeding story. A bit of enjoyable escapism. If you can get past the fact that the three Ukker alien originally intend to eat Alyx before they each start to have physical reactions to her and realise how the female human body works. They quickly figure out that Alyx can be put to use for things other than eating. This is not a traditional romance due to the alien language barrier and definite cultural differences in the beginning. But these four definitely develop a bond as mates that grows into more. The epilogue, set 65 years later, gives a really intriguing overview of what happened after this ended. It’s a pity that part wasn’t told here because it could have shifted this from alien porn into an epic alien saga. The transformation of Alyx, and her mates, from the last chapter of this story to the end of the epilogue warrants more. I’m not sure if the sequels tell this part of the story or not. But I enjoyed this one enough to try the next.
I enjoyed the world building and the creature's descriptions. I was definitely a fan of Alyx not being a complete push over. I also enjoyed the guy's exploration of her body, since it was nothing they'd ever encountered.
I found some of the writing a bit off. The third person didn't really bother me, but when it would switch from one character to another I had to reread portions just to make sure I followed.
As a mother myself, the quick terms for the hybrid pregnancy really freaked me out, but it was an interesting concept.
I'd definitely recommend this book. It's a bit odd, but the love story is sweet. (3 ¹/2 stars)
First off, just looking at that cover with those men and that woman, work that title ** shivers ** I had goosebumps. I knew that Ms. Bequin was going to take me on an intensely depraved ride. Guess what?!? I was so right. Even now as I'm writing this, I'm smiling just thinking back on what I read. This girl!!! I have no idea where she comes up with her stories; what crazy worlds are created in her mind, but I want to spend some time there.
I will tell you that usually seem to get annoyed by the females in her books because they usually do something stupid, but I always love her male characters. In this book though, I loved EVERY character. Alyx was the perfect mix of survivor and fighter. She was so bad@ss at the end. Her mates were just . . . What can I say other than they were hilarious, fierce, and protective.
This seriously twist plot will have you looking at your next steak with a jaundiced eye, but the fighting spirit will have you smiling. Thanks again for another wonderful read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4.3 stars. Wow. This was weird. Don’t get me wrong. I liked it. But damn if I wasn’t worried for a good portion of it.
If you’re looking for pure smut with a dose of dark alien weirdness, this is definitely it for you.
These three want to eat Alyx for a pretty big portion of the book. Like, plump her up and cook her, Eat her. Not the sexy ‘eat her’ I’m usually talking about with romances. Thankfully, while they’re taking the time to plump her up, they figure out that she’s sentient and also that she can provide them with something besides food. Pleasure.
It’s rough. And these aliens are primitive and have never seen a woman before so they don’t understand boundaries At All.
It’s over the top, and a little ridiculous, and sort of gross for a lot of it. But the smut, and the slow going connection they build, makes it worth it for me.
I don’t know what to tell you. This author writes some filthy smut, and I’m just here for it. 🤷🏻♀️I liked it.
Ill be honest the title of this book kind of threw me and although i was curious about it i wasnt a fan. Saying that once you read the book the title makes sense. The meat in this book being humans enslaved for food. Yes its a dark read but the relationship between the main characters Alyx, Ravnar, Krogg and Jale is pretty steamy as well as a caring one. Especially with the language barrier and the fact that the guys have no idea what a female is. I was kind of thrown by how quickly Alyx was churning out children. I understand why though. Not a bad read even though im not a massive Sci-fi steamy books
Ummm, wow. Talk about a dark reverse harem story. It had pretty much everything in it from killing, romance and a happy ending. Can't say that some people may find some triggers per say in it though. So read at your own discretion.
Alyx was given up to the Nith, because she wanted to help her fellow human women. But in doing so she was branded a criminal. Now on a cargo ship to who knows where. She must figure out a way to get on the ship and find safety... but what was once a well thought out plans. Turns out to be a nightmare and a half. Can she survive long enough to find a safe place or even a ride back home?
WARNING! THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS! THIS BOOK CONTAINS TRIGGERS!
For starters, this is NOT a fairy tale. It's science fiction, pure and simple. But I do appreciate the amount of world-building created within this book. I'm sure more could had been done, but considering that we don't have a god-like omniscient view of this story, only the individual characters, we won't be able to get any more than originally presented. I will say that this is a very singular world. I have yet to see something like it before. But this is a short novella. I would have said a long short story, but that's an oxymoron in my book. It is a short read, in my opinion, and there are some provisos that must be considered.
Don't read this book if your brain is in any way depressed or you're coming down with a virus.
Don't read this book if you're a militant vegan or vegetarian. You'll probably barf and not eat for the next few days.
Don't read this book if anal sex turns you off. Period.
Don't read this book if you've been the victim of abuse of any sort. And if you have any strong feelings about how you hate seeing main characters with Stockholm syndrome or any variation thereof.
Okay, let's get started.
Alyx is an obstetrician who has violated the global law of only one child per family. She starts off with hiding one pregnant female... then another... then another... until she's helped too many women escape with a second child without having referred them to a termination center for mandatory abortions. She is captured and transferred to the Nith who are a crocodilian alien species who have a tenuous trading agreement with Earth. Ksh, a highly nutrient-dense substance that will stave off mass starvation on Earth in exchange for undesirable humans. This is a new version of dealing Earther lawbreakers. What happens to them? Who cares!
Between Point A and Point B, Alyx is usable to eat or sleep. The rest of her fellow prisoners are feeding off food tubes 24/7, a mixture of ksh and mush that packs the pounds on those that eat it. This ksh makes Alyx ill. When they land on the planet the Nith call home, she is the only one that isn't obese. The crocodilians ship her to what she figures is an abattoir (her father used to work in a slaughterhouse and the smell of both places are the same), but she is lucky enough to escape with her life. And that's where her life takes a quick turn into the Twilight Zone.
I like how the all the characters are developed in this story. I had very well-designed characterizations for all four individuals. The Ukkur are a giant form of orc, complete with tusks and super-sensitive noses. They are the indigenous lifeforms of this planet. Unfortunately, in attempts to control them, the Nith conquered, enslaved the Ukkur, killing all the women. Using genetic engineering, the generations of Ukkur since have been males, born from artificial wombs without any knowledge of mothers or females in general. Jale, Ravnar, and Krogg are great characters, each having been rescued from the clutches of the Nith, hoping against hope to eventually fight against the crocodilians for their freedom, but their numbers are very low in comparison. I love their initial thoughts that Alyx was food and were arguing with each other about bruising her flesh from too much poking and prodding because she smelled and tasted so good! I appreciated the fact that these three Ukkur were highly believable with their assumptions and beliefs. I could easily tell who was talking by the manner of their speech and context. By the end, I was highly satisfied with how all four eventually turned out relationship-wise.
The editing wasn't horrible, but there could had been some additional clean-up. The context was what saved this book from being returned. The plot and world-building were quite exceptional. There were a few moments I was wondering if this was to be a giant Soylent Green conspiracy, but it isn't. I was easily able to suspense my sense of disbelief. And I appreciate the care she took in adequately describing the difficulty between two parties who can't speak a spit of each other's languages. It was hysterical.
I would definitely buy this book. I did get it via KU, but I'm getting my own personal copy!! It was that good!
So the book starts off pretty dark. Aliens eating humans after earth has been overpopulated.
These aliens have never seen a woman before and at first think she's an escaped alien pet.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER S P O I L E R S ..................................She smells good so they start poking her and figure out if they poke her in certain areas she squeals and eventually they find out they can use her for sex.
The sex scenes are pretty weird. The alien foods or their alien cells cause some massive changes in her body, like she goes up 3 cup sizes in one night. She gets pregnant and gives birth in a matter of days. While she's giving birth the men have to suck breast milk out because her boobs hurt so much from being full of milk.
The aliens also don't like to wait so frequently she has 2 or 3 of them at a time.
Overall the book was out of the ordinary. But the first half is pretty stressful because you don't know if she's going to get eaten.
This book was circulating around one of my groups and I got curious.
First off .. I heard this was a sci fi. then I looked at the cover. I knew I might not like it or that it wouldn't be up to par with my ... other sci fi reads. By the way..the cover doesn't match the character descriptions .. but we're all probably distracted by their abs anyway.
The plot. Very interesting.. but very predictable? Though it is refreshing when many sci fi books hover around similar concepts and story lines.
I think .. here's where my stars starting teetering and falling off.. There were some parts I truly enjoyed: the guys being so caveman-like, they didn't even know stuff about their own bodies beyond the basics. Okay cool, I can go with that. They don't know what a woman is, obviously there are only males of their kind or something .. gotcha. As they got to know the h .. one of them calls her woman parts a c**t. Okay.. I'm not offended by the word but rather.. confused. These men who seem to have no knowledge of what a female actually is let alone her opening..how does one coincidentally dub her woman parts a term that is so familiar?
Little details like this started to scatter in as the story went on. It kind of .. threw me a little because then I started thinking: do these guys have some sort of repressed memories or something? but at the same time.. they are of a different species, so how can this even be coincidental?
The further the story went on .. the further my feelings went downward towards this story. It seemed a bit rushed at the same time. I didn't feel that we had enough of a relationship build up with our characters after the initial "give in"?
BUT the storyline literally redeemed itself with its amazing epilogue. Without that epilogue, I would have given this book a lower rating.
If I had not read so many sci fi books with all their different plot lines .. I may have been more inclined to give this book more stars. It's fascinating if this isn't the type of stuff you're used to. But because it IS the type of stuff I'm used to ... my bar went up a notch.
Kudos to the author though. I felt perhaps the author had so many great ideas they wanted to get across .. that the details got left behind.
★ Alien world woven together by a creative concept, in different forms - great read ★
—>>> This book pushes and pokes at the basic instinct or drive to survive, whether predator or prey. And one must do what is necessary to achieve that end. Illegally helping countless women give birth as an OB on Earth, Alyx finds herself stuffed into the cargo hold of an Nith ship, with a very dubious outcome anticipated. But an even grimmer discovery sends Alyx running for her life in the dense forest beyond the parked ships, only to be ensnared in a primitive male alien beast’s net, to become his and his fellow hunters’ next exotic meal. An alien world woven together by a creative concept, in different forms - great read!
This book wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
Meat is a dark, naughty, filthy, nasty, wrong, Reverse Harem, space romance where humans are tasty.
Alyx is a criminal, and in future Earth, the government sells them to the Nith as chattel. Onboard the spaceship, they eat ksh, a space plant-based protein that makes you porky, so when you get to the Nith processing plant, you are ready to become meat.
I thought this would be the same level of perverted wonderfulness as the Quarantine Omega books, but it was much more like Their Human Vessel, and I wasn't that much of a fan of that. I would say I'm not a Bequin alien fan, but the fact is, I enjoyed Breed.
All-in-all, this is a steamy read with an unusual origin story. Its innocence angle is a fresh look at the sexuality of beastie-men. A world without women still seems like it would have adapted to other sexual means, ifyouknowwhatimean. So there were things which made it hard to suspend disbelief. But yes, I'm talking about suspending disbelief in an alien world where crocodile-like people eat humans. My feelings for this are complicated, but my rating is still three-stars.
