Rate this book
Millions of women across America have had it up to here with trying to have it all-while never finding the time to appreciate what is right in front of them. This engaging new book from a fresh new voice reminds women of the wonderful life choices they have already made, and helps them to figure out where they want to go from here. It offers all women, of all ages, a chance to rewrite their "to-do" list, and put themselves at the top.

Forget Perfect is a smart and funny look at how trying to be perfect actually gets in the way of happiness, and how letting go of being perfect means raising standards to live life to the fullest and appreciate the things that really matter.

I wish every woman I know would read this encouraging book! I love the way Lisa grapples with our desire for perfection and shares a fresh perspective about how to enjoy life in the moment. I especially like her idea of "front sight," a way of jumping ahead mentally and considering how we might view our lives looking back from some future time. Also helpful: the idea of open and closed windows to consider what's really important now.

Lisa's light-hearted and realistic view of marriage and motherhood is also spot-on!

This book is one of the only self help books that has actually made a difference in my life. It proposes the ideas that A) you don't need to wait until the perfect time to do the things that make you happy and B) being perfect in general should not a goal of yours and why. Amazing! Will change how you think about things for the better.

Sometimes you need to be reminded of these things ... forget perfect. Call a friend. Forgive your mother. Kiss your husband. Hug your kids. Don't worry about the dirty floor, chipping paint, well we could go on and on, couldn't we? This is a very funny reminder to revise our to do lists to include laughter and joy and things that matter.

Went and heard the author give a talk at our elementary school and she was very humorous...unfortunately, the book was a lot harder to get into. Must admit, I didn't finish it. THis was a book club pick.

Motivating the reader to overlook the minutiae of life, this book combines humor with common sense advice. I actually called my husband at work to read the section on Disney World to him. We both appreciated the reality of too much fun in the Magic Kingdom.

I really enjoyed this book. There was great wisdom and advice that people like me, the ones on a quest to be "perfect," could take to heart and work into their lives.
