The Recital: A sonata of broken hearts, blended family, and pinot grigio

Rate this book
Why hello there! How are you? Really, how are you? Misunderstood? Pissed off? Tired AF? Completely defeated and deflated? Frustrated as hell? Unbelievably sad and furious at the exact same time? Willing to try anything to improve your existence at the moment?

I am guessing that you picked up The Recital for a reason, and I am going to guess that the cover grabbed your attention because life just sucker punched you. Now you are looking for something – anything – to help you get through ‘it’ and you need to hear sh*t from someone who really knows what ‘it’ is like.

I’ve been there, and yes, ‘it’ sucks. My name is Kimberly Mooney, nice to meet you.

No, I do not have a psychology degree nor do I have a Ph.D, but I do have a doctorate in complete shitstorms.

You are not ready to quit! How do I know this? Because this book is in your hands. Otherwise you’d be at a lawyer's office pissed as hell signing papers. But you are not, you are here about to flip your world around! Cheers to YOU!!

The courage to share your journal is admirable. The transparency of the story on our local Island is another act of bravery. The sharing of life lessons that were learned the hard way build bridges towards hope that we all need to hear on our toughest of days.

The Recital was amazing, personal, truthful and emotional. Without giving out too much information on the book itself, for those who haven’t read it yet, I will start with this. The Recital tells Kim’s story. If you know or see this woman with the beautiful smile, sparkle in her eye, and so much love and kindness in her heart - you naturally think of perfection - and to me she is. But life is not always what it seems. As the old saying goes “The grass is always greener on the other side”. But this isn’t necessarily true. When you read her book, you will see why. This book was amazing. I laughed, I cried, I felt her pain and her love. And I especially felt her true strength and determination. I am beyond proud of her and her book. Thank you for baring your soul through your life story. You are a true inspiration. You were lost and now you are found. 💕💕💕💕

This book grabbed me right from the start and wouldn't let go! I was amazed at the courage it took to share this personal story with the world. It was also incredibly entertaining and obvious the author has a fun sense of humor. While there were many difficulties to overcome throughout the years she described, her love for her boys and Larry shone through it all. Life is tough - it's tough for all of us and sometimes reading that others struggle too is comforting. Thanks for the laughs and for helping me put things into perspective. I also bought a copy of this book for my best friend. Highly recommend!
