Romance, fantasy, and horror may seem to be a strange combination for some, but I love reading these genres as much as I love writing in them.

I can't imagine my writing existing without elements of darkness and light.

My perfect life: The Sacred Trio, good health, loved ones, reading, writing, travel, adventure, and simply sitting down with someone and sharing who we are.

"Let me tell you something Ben, you're a great fuck, but you threaten me, and I'll put a bullet in you just as quick as the next man, or wolf, or whatever the fuck you are."

"But you don't have bullets. Or a gun."

"Yes. I don't have bullets yet. But I'll get them, eventually, and when I do, they'll be all kinds of silver, but I'ma shoot you one kind of dead."

I got this book because I really, really enjoyed this authors two previous books. Not only that but she can do an over-the-top semi-psycho or sociopathic main character and make you really like them. You end up rooting for the insane fuckers.

The heroine Morgan isn't a psycho, but holy cow she is a force. I just loved her from the jump. All of the passages I highlighted in this book are things that come out of her mouth. She is so quotable! Also she is irreverent.

The hero is this super serious Big Alpha Shifter, very conscious of his role as a leader. The world building makes it necessary for the head shifter to be mated by a certain time or he'll go crazy and slaughter his clan. Because the hero, Cillian, is at the critical phase, he is placed in a break-out proof cell to go crazy and die without hurting his clan. The heroine, Morgan is thrown in his cell with him (to be killed) as a punishment for breaking into his castle to steal an important artifact.

But of course (duh!) she is his mate. They learn this but not before they fight, throw insults (mostly form Morgan -- who insists on calling him 'Ben' a reference to the rat in the Michael Jackson song, LOL) and have hot, insane sex.

If there is one thing that I ding the book for is that the world-building in areas feels a bit muddled and confusing. Basically it is a LOT.

But the book is fun, Morgan is a hoot. We get lots of action and mayhem and sex and magic and as is this author's norm, crazy characters with great dialogue.

Fun read indeed... F Yeah

Okay, so I am usually not one for shifter romances or anything like that, but I gave this a go because I love this author’s two previous books. Getting into this book was a little hard for me visually (when I read books they play out in my head like a movie) and I struggled with that throughout. I think it is because the characters were vaguely described. But what I did love was the flow of the book. All of the characters are fleshed out pretty well and I loved the strength of the main character. As a potty mouth professional myself, I must say that Morgan’s cursing felt a bit forced and unnatural in cadence. It was like she was either 12 or a Juggalo. But even with that, I loved her psychotic little self. I loved the magical elements, and this book was just fun. I can’t wait to read book 2.

An action packed six-fi / supernatural love story. I must say that after being immersed in the fictional world in the pages in this book, this plane of existence seems so boring. Can’t wait for book two!

I don’t understand some authors who write about things they don’t understand, don’t know or don’t think through.

Just imagine that if you go to rob a place and you bring two guns, 7 knives, 3 grenades and a shotgun — then you are okay with killing people if they try to stop you. Innocent people, perhaps.
That doesn’t make you look okay. The main character is not at all a nice person. Perhaps, even a murderer, because this is obviously not her first “rodeo”.
And she did shoot. So yeah...

I was ready to give the book a try even with the bad start but the writing is so poor that I knew I didn't want to waist my time and money on it.

Surprisingly Good

I wasn’t sure what to think when I picked up this book. This isn’t my usual genre but based on the reviews, I was willing to give it a go, and I’m glad I did. This was so much fun and I can’t wait for the next book as I’m now immersed in this world. In the beginning it took me a few chapters to really get into it because it seemed kind of dense and there was a lot of information to digest. Once I had a good grasp on the world and all the characters I was hooked!

I really wanted to like this

The premise of the book is promising and I initially liked the female lead. However, there was a lot of detail and many characters introduced all at once which took away from the enjoyment of getting to know each character individually. I feel like the beginning should have been an introduction to the lore of each clan, and it’s customs as this would have avoided lengthy descriptions slotted into strange parts of the story. The main female character’s demons and trauma were only alluded to so we never really understood properly her character flaws. The male lead was in his head fighting his ‘darkness’ most of the time and most characters were usually fighting some unseen monster. I must admit I skipped through a lot of dialogue as it was repetitive and stopped reading at 63%. This was my first time reading this author and although the idea of the book and characters seem great, the execution needs refining. I spent most of the time confused as to what was happening because of the abundant internal dialogue and lack of character development. Tegan and Elgin’s characters go through quite a lot but this is only ever alluded to. The Morgan and Cillian find themselves bound together really quickly and again, there’s no real development of how this would feel to each of them. We jump from one battle to the next with no break to develop each character or build the plot. I’m going to try and finish this book but doubt I’ll read the second.

Definitely a different spin on werewolves!! Indomitus

Wow! What a read and such interesting characters! I just enjoyed the banter and verbal interaction between our protagonist, Morgan and her kilgaron 's sister, Sorcha. There was just so much to understand and absorb. A coming
together of differing cultures and myths which leads to an exciting and action pack read with a hot and heavy dose of heat and romance. Right up to the end, the reader is not allowed a moment's reprieve from the action, betrayal, devastation and loss. Although this does not end on a cliff hanger, - our hero and heroine are safe and happily in love- it does leave a number of unanswered questions still not resolved and the urgent need to find Rah, Morgan's cousin. But a thrilling read with touches of humour and some poignant scenes. Truly an emotional roller-coaster read. This is only a brief reprieve as we eagerly await the next book in the series. As usual Ms. Rucker knows how to please her audience.

Ben:-)

One of the few authors I wait patiently for with bated breath is Shay... You cannot rush greatness... Since her first novel to this one...she has fortified her writing abilities with mind blowing supernatural characters and this latest book proves how well her skills have expanded... Morgan and Cillian...Ben and his Delicate flower finds love in a castle dungeon..... Well ...there is nothing delicate about Morgan... She a foul mouth.... Quick tempered sexy assassin sent on a suicide mission... But she doesn't know... She has entered sacred grounds... Scary monsters everywhere.... The scariest of them all was locked in a dungeon deep within the castle...waiting for his true mate....his goddess...to save him from eternal darkness.... But it's not that easy...because his wish came true.... A foul mouth... Angry....pissed off delicate flower..... And it is hella funny😂😂😂😂😂

GLORIOUSLY SAVAGE!!

This is an excellent book. It has all the elements I enjoy in a book, especially a kick a$$ snarky heroine, get this, that's an older black woman not a tween or early twenty-something. That's what I'm talking about! Morgan is no-holds barred and a queen at her craft. Poor Cillian got more than he bargained for even as the "cursed" Kilgarian or Indotimus. The powers these two have along with their interactions and conversations are things great books are made of. Man I can just picture this as a movie with the drama, suspense, action, comedy, and romance all with surround sound. I'm giddy just thinking about it.

Ms Shay Rucker, you have yet to let me down on your books. Girl hurry up with book 2 😁. FYI - The soundtracks playing in my head are SAVAGE REMIX and EVERY WOMAN

Not stand alone

As captioned it’s not a standalone, leaves on a cliff hanger but not one that makes you impatient. The book it’s self for me was a nice read, I enjoy paranormal Akon go with many others genres. This one can get you lost unfortunately. There’s only two main POVs, Cillian and Morgan. His right hand man had a small POV prior to the introduction of Cillian. There are many characters, so a lot of dialect to get through and names to remember. The book held my interest while reading, but I never felt “yes! Free time, I can read” I simply waited till bedtime, but once I got back to it I enjoyed. I prefer books that make me want to fight sleep. This didn’t do that. I will read the second one, as I said it’s good, but if I completely forget about the second release I won’t be surprised

A Must Read!!!

This book was so thoroughly entertaining. The storyline keeps you hooked from start to finish. Morgan was a character who you just can't help but to like, brashiness(yes I made up this word) and all. What was even more entertaining was the by play between Morgan and Sorcha, it'll have you laughing with their antics. Gillian is in a league of his own as well. Everyone in his clan all have respect and love for him as leader, to his enemies he's their biggest threat. If you follow the story closely you pick up who has betrayed him and the his clan way before it's revealed. I'm so looking forward to book 2 and seeing what's going to happen next and to more revelations. Highly recommend this book you will not be disappointed!!!

Took me a minute to really get into...

....but once I did man I didn't want to put it down. It's been a minute since we've had something new from this author however you can tell she was hard at work because this book rocked. Hoping to get book two soon I want to read about the Wolf Horde as everyone so fondly called these babies. And I NEED to know what's become of Rah and her Ahimi and a whole bunch more stuff but will not say in this review as to not give away too much. If you're a fan of What Rucker READ THIS its so worth your time.

The horde😍

This blend of supernatural and fierce negress!!! I am in looooooove with Morgan!!! Oh, more please almighty Shay!!!! I can’t wait for book 2. Now the difference between Rí and Goddess Mate would be confusing to those that didn’t pay attention to the reading. For the Wild Wolves those titles are one in the same. But for the Clans, that have spent more time in human form than their wolf form these titles are designated for two separate people on most occasions. I’m glad you didn’t put Cillian, ‘Ben’ in a polyamorus relationship. Morgan seems a little territorial 😁

Awww, Ben and the Sheared Sheep!

I absolutely enjoyed this book. I laughed, I swooned and fanned, I laughed some more and most of all, I was beyond excited. The action and the adventure alone will keep you more than entertained. I thoroughly enjoyed Cillian and Morgan, with her delightful and delicate personality (not), but let's not leave out Sorcha. When I tell you some of her comments had me cracking up, I'm not lying. I can't wait to see what happens next with the Kilgarin clan. Somebody's got some explaining to do.

Best Paranormal Romance Period

I love paranormal romance and this is by far the best I have ever read. Well done this author is amazing. She knew how to weave and build this story from beginning to end I couldn't put this book down. This also has the trappings of an amazing series, I want more this book, heroin and the dominate male character where off the charts. The supporting characters were also just as amazing and added to the story creating the stage for an amazing series. Please create more to this story it is amazing.

I enjoyed this story. The back and forth between “Manual Jackson” aka Morgan and “Ben” aka Cillian was quite comical. They had a pretty good connection. Morgan had no filter and Cillian at times struggling to deal with her smart mouth. This was a well written story...very detailed but there were times when I wasn’t quite sure what was happening in a scene. Nevertheless, this story did hold my attention. I look forward to reading Shay Rucker’s next release.

Excellent Reaf

Loved all characters...the story line is something different from my normal paranormal reads but workable. The passion and humour make for great chemistry between the hero and heroine. The secondary characters are interesting and so likeable. I love a book where the main characters can acknowledge the chemistry and act on it. Both are strong and humorous. I can't wait to read the next installment. I hope it's the cousin or sister.

Finally a good Romance fantasy with black lead

The book was interesting and I couldn’t put it down! There were some grammar/spelling mistakes and some inconsistencies in the writing that I found a bit frustrating to read. I also found the book confusing at times as the main characters would start fighting foes out of no where without much explanation. But the pros of this book out weigh the cons. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series!!!

A different direction but a good direction

This book was everything I want in a paranormal romance. Morgan is my all time favorite heroine. I laughed alot throughout this book. The hero was the perfect example of a Alpha. Ms. Rucker thank you for the adventure. I can not wait until the second book.

The love story thread throughout the story was tangible and exciting.

If you don't mind the supernatural, werewolves, witches and a really good love story, then this book is for you. There is humor, intrigue, betrayal and love. What else could you ask for. My only complaint is that Book Two isn't ready. Read this book, you won't be disappointed.

New author for me and I wasn't disappointed

Sometimes the paranormal romance can be over done so I was pleasantly surprised at the fresh twist on the werewolf. Callian and Morgan have an instant connection even though Callian is in the middle of a transition. As the story progresses you learn of Morgan's special circumstances. Waiting patiently for book 2
