Action-packed, thrilling adventures await when authors Kelly N. Jane and Ashley McLeo take you into a supernatural world that exists right under your nose.
Coffee house waitress wasn’t on my list of life-long goals, but it paid the bills. The only thing that really mattered was keeping a low profile.
Dead-end jobs where no one paid attention made it easier to avoid awkward questions like, “what do you mean you hear voices inside your head?” No, I didn’t need to end up like Mom. I’d pay our bills no matter what to keep from living on the streets.
Everything was going as well as it could, until a hulking man carrying a giant red murse showed up at work. Strange, but hot as hell, he was far too intense for my liking. But just my luck, his was the next weirdo voice that invaded my mind.
I tried to ignore him, but when a different creepy guy mentally issued threats against the muscled man, I had to warn him. Didn’t I? After that, things went nuts and now I’m in the middle of a supernatural mission I don’t understand. The weird thing is that for the first time in my life I finally feel like I might fit in someplace—I just need to live long enough to find out why that is.
Kelly is a USA Today bestselling author who writes royally epic fantasy where fate is forged in prophecy, kingdoms are shaped by intrigue, and reluctant heroes must rise to meet destiny. Her elaborate secondary worlds are rich with myth, magic, and slow-burn romance, blending character-driven storytelling with high-stakes adventure.
A lover of sassy chihuahuas and bobbed-tail cats, her coffee mug is always full, and she believes dessert goes with every meal. When not in front of her keyboard, she’s probably reading, playing with yarn, or lost in her imagination.
→Dragon Prince← Author: Kelly N. Jane Genre: Urban Fantasy, YA Age Rating: 12+ Spice: 0.5/5🌶️ (kiss, on page, not detailed) Cursing: 2/5 🤬(hell, damn, shit) Content Warnings: dragons, magic, death, murder Will I read more books by this author if they have any? Yes!! Would I recommend this to a Christian? Yes, with the understanding that it has magic, and cursing. The cursing isn’t super frequent, but enough to be noticeable.
~Thoughts~ I absolutely loved this!! It was super cute, clean, and the slow burn romance is slow burning!! :) Nothing of note besides that!
This was so entertaining! I love the "fish out of water" aspect here. It's written really well. There are just some (several) things a being from a different realm wouldn't know or understand. Rone's character was fabulously written in this regard. I really enjoyed all his interactions. Violet is so fun to read. I loved watching her grow in confidence and ability. The world building was fantastic, too. Overall, this is a really fun read with some great depth.
Plot- The plot was actually somewhat engaging. If the writing was better, I may have kept reading.
Characters- The FMC was likable. The MMC was a dragonblood shapeshifter and from a different realm, so his cultural missteps in the human world were pretty entertaining. To be clear, there wasn’t a hint of humor in the book, but I still enjoyed his old fashioned language and how he misinterpreted almost every interaction he had.
Romance- While there was low chemistry overall, they had their moments and their relationship had potential. But it was being mishandled.
Writing - The poor writing was jarring and absolutely diminished my enjoyment.
Content-
Language- No f-words (used “effing” instead, once or twice), some a-words and other low level swears. Not excessive. Spice- No sexual content. Violence- Some fighting but not explicit. Substance abuse- no. Cover- good POV- dual POV between FMC and MMC, first person Cliffhanger- I don’t know Format- free ebook on Amazon
I enjoyed this but something felt like it was missing….can’t quite put my finger on what. I think it may partly be a me thing the plot was fairly fast paced here and I do like plot to be a little slowed down but that’s a personal thing. I do plan to keep reading the series though!
I picked up Dragon Prince because I like stories about dragon shifters. The story follows Rone, a dragon shifter searching for people with dragon blood to raise dragon eggs and save his world. He meets Violet, a young woman with mysterious magical powers, who agrees to help him. Together, they face witches, mages, and uncover parts of their pasts.
While the premise is exciting, Rone’s character felt underdeveloped. His stubbornness, while understandable, often made him frustrating and not really attractive. In contrast, Violet felt more relatable with her struggles and backstory. The book hints at romance between them, but it doesn’t go far in this installment.
Though action-packed, the story sometimes felt slow, and the abrupt ending left many questions unanswered, as if it had been split into two parts. Still, it’s an entertaining read, and I’m curious to see how Violet’s heritage unfolds in the next book.
Dragon Prince comes out tomorrow! I'm so excited, it's such a fun story between a dragon shifter coming to this world and being utterly confused by what he finds. He meets a barista with mind-reading powers and the two head off on an adventure filled with twists, turns, and turmoil! Check it out . . .
The plot was fun enough but I just couldn’t connect with the characters. There really wasn’t any chemistry between Violet and Rone either and I found Rone to be incredibly frustrating and completely unreasonable at times.
This book is all about magic. We have a protagonist who believes she is human, but she has a neat knack to read minds. She absolutely believes there is no such thing as magic until she runs into a dragon. The Dragon is a King who is trying to save the only remaining dragon eggs. If he doesn’t save them it will be the end of the Dragon line. This author has caused the reader to be transported to a whole new world of magic. There was a real balance of darkness and realm of fantasy with lightness and humor. The authors brought the characters to life, as they penned this amazing story and created their characters. I was entranced by this story. The writing was fast-paced. This book is a real page-turner. You won’t want to put it down, so clear your schedule, get comfortable and settle in for a treat. I received a copy of this novel through BookFunnel. This is an honest review, and my own opinions.
Excellent, excellent beginning of a new series. Love the dragon, Rone, and love Micah. Crazy interested to find out what Violet is and I’m already betting with myself over it. Hope we get to delve a little more into the mother’s history as well. I cannot wait for book two!!!
Wow this action packed dragon shifter adventure is just awesome! Once started I just couldn’t put it down! The world building is incredible and I found myself easily lost in it, the storyline addictive and the characters amazing! If dragons, fantasy, slowburn romance and tons of action are ur thing then you are gonna want to jump right in!!
In Dragon Prince by Kelly N. Jane and Ashley Mcleo, because she sometimes hears voices in her head Violet believes she will eventually end up in a padded cell same as her mother. After she meets Rone, who is on a quest to save his race, she finds out she isn't crazy and that she is the key. I received this book through Bookfunnel and love this book and know I will love other books in the series. This book comes out on Amazon October 13.
I'm excited to read book 2 in this serie. 🥰🥰 A thank u to Ashley whom send the ebook to me.
Sorry had to think about it before i spoiled to much..
it was very interaining. and loved the fish out of water aspect. :P Rone's charcter is well written and loved all his interactions. Violet was fun to read. i loved the way she grow in her confidence and ability. im very excited to read book 2 in this series. because i liked it alot
I loved this book! Ashley and Kelly wrote a amazing story of Supernatural’s and Dragons. Violet thinks she is going crazy like her mother, she hears other people’s thoughts. Her mind reading is a well kept secret and she learned to put up walls not to hear them all the time. Rone is a Dragon Prince on a quest to search for humans with dragon blood to take care of 6 dragon eggs brought from his realm. Violet warns Rone that he is about to be attacked and they join together to find dragon bloods and are thwarted every step by Vampires and powerful witches. Lots of twists and turns full of surprises. I can’t wait for more.
This book had promise. The characters are a bit two dimensional and the lead male is so annoyingly stupid that I just couldn't get into the story. There was no character development at all. It was an interesting spin on dragons and shapeshifting, but that's about all I could say it had going for it. There is no real romance between characters or building of tension between them. It just all fell flat.

A Funtoging New Dragon Shifter Series!😍☕🐉👑👜😂 A 3.5 Star Read 🌟 Dragon Prince (Royal Quest, #1)
Violet was raised in relative poverty. Her Mum has mental health issues, it's caused her to become institutionalised, Violet fears she's inherited them!😔 She can hear some people's inner thoughts which freaks her out massively. She's at one of her jobs, in a coffee shop, when a seriously hot & sexy guy comes in.🔥 Weirdly to her, he's wearing a red man-purse (murse), which he insists is a satchel, he's Extremely attached to it!😉😆 When they meet again, under odd circumstances, he introduces himself as Rone.
Rone believes he is possibly his species' last hope. He's taken charge of their future's continuation by bringing 6 eggs to our Earth realm. He wants to find other dragons to help care for them - Unfortunately for him they're just myths here!😳 He employs a 'hard up' Violet to help him find other Dragonbloods. He's convinced she's a Supernatural of some sort too, thus turning her world on its head!!🙈😲
Violet & Rone have an amusing and at times frustrating & antagonistic relationship. He's full of alpha male arrogance but struggles to understand our customs & equitable attitudes! Violet is often left stumped by his attitude until further information comes to light. He starts to become protective of her & then jealous about her attention to other males!💚 An mutual attraction begins to blossom.
This is an often fun & amusing read. The dichotomy of Rone's excessive manners versus the laid back attitude of Violet, makes for some truly amusing situations. I found the fact that Rone didn't seem to learn from Violets insights & suggestions frustrating, but his saving grace was his ability to apologise when he messed up badly.🙏 I found the pace a bit lacking in the first two thirds of the storyline, it was a little repetitive. It did, however, spice up well in the last third, which had me hooked into their quest so I really began to care!!😍 Micah became a wonderfully exciting addition to the two main characters. I really liked the introduction of more supernatural types as the story progressed too. I can't wait for book #2, I'm hoping Violets heritage will be revealed or teased a lot more. The murse HAS to stay!!🙏 I can see it becoming a character in its own right.😂 This was an enjoyable first book to this engaging new series.🌟
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
Ashely McLeo and Kelly N. Jane have come together to write the Royal Quest series. The first book in the series is Dragon Prince, which is an urban fantasy with light romance and told from two alternating points of view.
One perspective is from the main female character, Violet who is a barista who is barely making ends meet even with a second job and plasma donations. She tries her best to take care of her mother who is in an assisted living facility because she isn't capable of caring for herself anymore. It's very clear that Violet is a very caring person, she cares about her mom and values life but she also has a feisty side which Rone happens to bring out quite frequently.
Rone is the other perspective, he's a dragon prince and is on a mission that could save his kind. Rone is from a different realm and needs help completing his mission so after meeting Violet in the strangest way possible (haha) they are joined at the hip and getting into all kinds of trouble. Rone doesn't have nearly enough information about Violet's world and his ignorance (of the world) and plus his privilege shows a lot, then add in that hot temper and big trouble happens.
It's amazing that Rone and Violet get along (if not perfectly) but there is something there. They try to understand each other, all though it's hard but the try to listen to each other, forgive mistakes, and forge ahead. The romance between them is light but there is something there, and after everything they've been through the two are even closer than ever. I have a feeling about what they might be to each other but it hasn't been verified and I can only hope that I'm right.
The story is fantastic, seriously I loved it so much. The fact that is obvious that Rone has no idea about how Violet's world works and the hi-jinks that ensue when he tries to be the person in charge and get things done is hilarious, then add in the mystery that is Violet and the dynamic between the two, it is all very entertaining. There
Dragon Prince is just the beginning of Violet's and Rone's story and I am excited to see where this series goes because I love it so far. With all the supernaturals about, critical missions, mysterious backgrounds, angsty love, magic, and precious baby dragons how could I not want more?
Rone a dragon has in his possession a very precious cargo that he has been entrusted with to keep safe. He must keep this precious cargo safe to save his world. Rone is in search of other dragons to help him secure his cargo’s safety. Rone’s world is at war and his precious cargo plays a big part in helping to save his world.
Violet, a human or so she believes until she meets a dragon who tells her differently. Violet can read minds. The day she meets Rone he is attacked. Violet follows him and witnesses the fight. After learning that Violet can read minds Rone knows right away that she is not human that she is supernatural.
Rone enlists Violet’s help in his search for other dragons and to help protect his precious cargo. Needing the money he offers her Violet decides to help him out. But before she can she has a personal mission to complete.
Vampires are tracking Violet as they want to drain her of her blood until she is no more. Rone saves her on more than one occasion but the vamps just keep coming one after the other. Why are the vamps tracking Violet? What exactly do they want with her? What is so special about Violet?
I truly enjoyed reading the Dragon Prince. It was written amazingly well. The world-building was fantastically written. Dragon Prince was so descriptively written that it jumped right off the page right into my mind and played out like a movie. I had no problem imagining what was going on and seeing it in my head.
Dragon Prince was a great introduction to a brand new series. One that I can’t wait to read more of in future books. I can’t wait to learn more about Violet and her mother. Who and what are they? What kind of supernatural are they? Or are they supernaturals?
I definitely recommend Dragon Prince to all fantasy, paranormal, and dragon fans. One-click your copy today to begin this magical journey!
Violet was a waitress who had a secret, she heard voices in her head, but fearing she would end up in the loony bin just like her mother she spoke of this to no one and tried to keep up her barriers as much as possible. Rone was a dragon prince from another realm, and he'd come to earth with a clutch full of dragon eggs, seeking dragonbloods in order to get them to mind the eggs till they hatched, thus trying to save his people back home. Violet met Rone in the coffeeshop she worked in, he was a hunk, but she did not want to get involved, until she heard a voice in her head and knew she had to intervene, as the voice was out to get Rone. From the moment she saved his life they formed a team, to save the eggs, and use her faculties to pinpoint dragonbloods, and from thereon Violet's life was changed forever. Things she had never believed in like magic, dragons, vampires and witches suddenly entered her life, and the adventures, most of them a threat to her life began. However on the plus side she did get to ride a dragon!! I loved this exciting dragon shifter story even though at times I hated Rone's attitude towards Violet, but was glad she managed to put him in his place. His arrogance often times got them into very tight spots. Royal Quest left off at a very crucial point in the story, so obviously I look forward to book 2 as I find myself very intrigued by this story and love the characters.
This first book in the Royal Quest Series takes off from the beginning and doesn’t stop keeping the reader engaged and not wanting to put the book down.
The book is told from both of the protagonists viewpoint with each alternating chapter. I don’t usually enjoy reading books that present different viewpoints because it is easy to loose track of who’s talking. That is not the case in this book As the authors make it well known who’s voice you are hearing and actually helps the reader understand what is taking place. Our first protagonist is Violet who is trying to make ends meet while taking care of her mother who is institutionalised. Then there is Rone, a Dragon Prince from another realm trying to keep his dragon eggs alive. Rone enlists Violet’s help on his quest to help his dragon eggs. Along their adventure they encounter witches and vampires who try to keep them from completing their quest.
The author does a really good job of world and character building. The characters are very believable and it is very easy to imagine the world the author describes.
I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
If you are a lover of fantasy, dragons, or vampires then this book is for you.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for a review. My opinion of the book is my own and was not influenced by anyone.
When I first read the description for the "Dragon Prince," I thought that it sounded interesting. However, I was expecting more of an adult series but while reading the book it felt more YA than adult. The author did a good job with world building and characterizations but I just felt like the read was immature.
Violet works in a coffee shop. She has a unique ability to hear certain people's thoughts. She always thought that she was just strange and maybe following in her mother's footsteps who is currently in a mental hospital. However, one particular day a man,Rone (a prince) comes in and orders a sandwich. She can hear his frustration with her and soon realizes that she is not the only one paying attention to him. There is man lurking about and he follows Rone out of the coffee shop. Violet follow the men so that she can warn Rone. What ensues in an interesting partnering between Violet and Rone. It seems Rone has been given a mission to complete: find homes for Dragon eggs in order to preserve their race. Hopefully, with Violet's unique abilities she will be able to help.
There were times that I was bored and wanted more from the storyline. In the end, I did not dislike this story, I just didn't love it. Therefore, with that being said, I will not be going on with the series. Read it for yourself and decide. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
Violet can read minds, but with every great power comes a great tradeoff. Like only being able to hear the strangest of humans. So when a hot guy walks in and she can hear his thoughts, she knows she's in for trouble. Especially when she hears him think of her as "the human."
Dragon Prince flies right into action, and the plot doesn't stop as we follow Violet, Rone and Rone's murse in a race against time to protect all of dragon-kind.
The stakes are high, and our heroes won't make it out of this one unscathed. And what Violet find outs may completely upend everything she's ever known and leave her on the run.
But one huge question remains: What is she? Can't wait to find out.
Is this book for me? Yes if you like shifters, a heroine who gives the hero a big run for his money and a lot of sass, snark and high stakes fast moving plot.
I received this ARC and these opinions are my own.
Have you ever had a secret so unique that you were afraid to tell anyone, because you feared being institutionalized? Well that is exactly the burden that Violet our main herione deals with on a daily basis. She doesn't know supernaturals really exist despite the fact that she oblivious is one. She has even managed to keep her unique talents a secret until an entitled dragon prince pushes all her buttons, both infuriating and intriguing her. Will she delve into a world she's been apart of her whole life without knowing it, or will she tell the shifter from another realm to go back to where he came from?
This is the start to a great series and I can't wait to read the next installment. Do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself. If you like adventure, mystery, and a couple definite love interests then you will enjoy this fun, fast read.
I would love to have Rone as a book boyfriend. He is responsible, handsome, kind, rich and very cute when he is out of his depth with all the new things he sees on Earth. I loved the humorous banter between Violet and him as they tried to complete their quest.
The story did not leave many cliffhangers at the end of the book and yet, I find myself waiting to start the next one. The authors have used a failure and loss to drive a reader to relate to the characters and want to come along for the ride, no matter the hurdles it may be filled with.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get to imagine the little dragons in the near future in all their glory. I will imagine them as the baby dragons from GOT but of course, in a bigger number.
This is a slow burn romance, so judging by their kiss in this book, I hope to get to the steamy stuff as fast as I can.
This was so awesome to read. I was surprised when a slow burn romance was introduced, you don't get very many of those build ups these days. The characters for Dragon Prince were also a different approach. Rone himself makes mistakes and is constantly learning and trying to understand. He is a prince but here he can't just order things done his way and he has to trust Violet's knowledge of the world and her powers which even she doesn't always listen to. The relationship that is building between Rone and Violet is one I want to see progress but more important than the is what happens to Rone's "cargo" and how the authors are going to move the story forward when a rebellion is building and the hope for his world might take years to mature. Its an intriguing story and if you are interested in seeing "new" supernatural beings I recommend it.
Do otherworldly beings such as dragons exist in another world? We have legends of dragons here. So did dragons once exist here? This fun book has a dragon prince visiting our world on a mission. Can he complete it? Go unnoticed amongst us?
Rone’s mission isn’t going well. He has been here a week and hasn’t found a single dragonblood. Still he can’t give up. The continuance of his people depends on his success.
Violet has noticed the hot guy who has visited the coffee shop where she works every day. Until today she has avoid interacting with him. When forced to face him, she hears his thoughts. Because Violet has a secret. She has to shield her mind to avoid hearing the oddest of people.
When she hears another man’s plan to attack this stranger, she rushes to help. Thrown together by chance, can Violet help Rone save the dragons? Can she discover the mystery behind her own ability?
Violet is just trying to make ends met and keep her secret, well a secret ~ no one can ever find out what she can do or its the padded cells for her..just like her poor mum! Working as a barista at The Mystic Bean, she didn't realise how much the next customer would change her life. Rone is a prince in his home realm, but here on Earth things are very different! He has a mission of the up most importance and needs to complete it as soon as possible - yet he's not having any luck at all! His chance meeting with a barista could turn out to be the help he needed to turn his luck around! I love that we get to read the story from both main characters point of view, such great world building and characters that leave you wanting to find out more!

This first book in a new series is written in two perspectives: Rone and Violet.
Violet is convinced she's going to end up like her mother. She can hear people's thoughts. On top of that, she's barely making ends meet with two jobs and also trying to take care of her mom, who can no longer take care of herself.
Rone has come to Earth on a mission - to save his species. He's also convinced that Violet is some sort of supernatural. What he carries may save his species, and he's determined to make that happen.
When the two are thrown together, they have to learn to get along and help each other.
