Love's Healing Touch by Juliette Duncan is a charming contemporary romance. Although in a series (Potter's House Books Two), it is a stand-alone story. The characters are strong and vibrant and their emotions and actions are realistically portrayed as they deal with the anger and bitter feelings regarding broken relationships, and devastating life challenges. Being a registered nurse who briefly contemplated entering the field of midwifery, I loved that the main character, Melanie, was a midwife. She loves her career and the new life she has forged after an ugly divorce. Will she ever be able to forgive those who betrayed her? Seb is a man who wasn't fond of change but as he and Melanie become friends, he finds something shifting and softening inside. Would it be a good change, or lead to more heartache? The author tackles well the sensitive subject of the genetic disorder of Down syndrome. She brings to light the joys and difficulties encountered by parenting a child who is born with the extra chromosome. Readers who enjoy heartfelt stories with themes of hope and second chances will not want to miss Love's Healing Touch.
I was given a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
