Tales of Pixie Hollow #15

Iridessa, Lost at Sea

Rate this book
How did super-orderly Iridessa get into such a fix? First, Tink’s crazy idea to take a pirate bottle from Captain Hook goes horribly wrong. Then, in the flutter of a fairy’s wing, Iridessa and Tink find themselves trapped inside the bottle, floating forlornly on the ocean waves! But as they bob along, the bottle crosses paths with all sorts of unusual sea life, from green turtles to flying fish to beautiful, but selfish, mermaids. And gradually, Iridessa learns something new—a little adventure isn’t such a bad thing!

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others, when Tink has a tantrum it's adorable but when Iridessa has one she's just plain annoying.
I did love the adventure they went on, especially the scene with Tick Tock.
This is the last of my Disney Fairies collection. I'll have to try get the rest of them at some point.

This was a very cute read with a good positive message for young readers. My niece isn't a year old yet, but I will be sending these to her in the hopes my sister reads them to her at bedtime and saves them for when she is old enough to read them and interpret the message on her own.

A library find with my daughter. Iridessa and Tinker Bell are working to solve the owl problem. The fairies end up on an adventure, requiring more problem solving but also testing friendship and how to work together.

Moral of the story: Accept help from friends? You might end up having an adventure... Ask for help along the way?

I bought a boxset of Spellbinding Stories back then during Big Bad Wolf, and I had no idea it was part of more than twenty titles. *sigh*

I like Iridessa, a light-talent fairy who's quite organized compared to other mischievous fairies like Tink or Fawn.

What makes the book version seems better than the animated movie is that we could know various talents, not only those related to nature. There are cleanup-talents, metal-talents, and many others.

In this story, Tink helped Iridessa look for a way to send an owl go. They took us all the way to the Jolly Roger and met Captain Hook and Smee. We could also see the Mermaids.

Put it simply, they took us to the adventure throughout Neverland. Iridessa is an organized fairy, having an adventure is a new thing for her.

That's it, nothing special.. for me.

Had to get this from interlibrary loan. Though it's 15th in the series, it's the 23rd book in the series I've read (one more to go).

The quest that drove this plot felt rather thin, as if the author backed into it. She (or whoever at the publisher hired her) might have said they wanted the main character to get lost at sea in the bottle, and then had to come up with a reason that would happen. The two fairies at the center of the plot, Iridessa and Tinkerbell, bicker a lot, which probably reflects emotions and behavior more realistically, but doesn't lead to any sort of lesson for young readers.

Anyway, it's a solid little adventure that builds on the already established world of the series and the original book as well as Disney movie. It doesn't further develop the world, beyond perhaps exploring light talent fairies, so not one of the strongest books but entertaining.

I loved reading about Iridessa's adventure with Tinkerbell. This is a great early chapter book for students who have an interest in fantasy, fairies, and Disney! I would use this in the classroom to show students that it is okay to not always follow a plan and that sometimes the greatest adventures are the ones you do not plan for. It also shows different ways to solve a problem, as Iridessa is in charge of trying to help Pixie Hallow get rid of a mean owl. Iridessa learns this lesson when she helps Tinkerbell get the bottle from Captain Hook's ship and they both end up lost at sea together (hence the title). I would have this in a 2nd or 3rd-grade class, depending on the reading levels of students

We recently read some of Disney's 'The Never Girls' books (after first reading Peter Pan) and now my daughter wants all the Never Fairies stories so we went ahead and read this one even though we don't have any others in this series. We found this one at a charity shop.
Most of this story is Tink and Iridessa being rather rude towards each other but they end up working together despite their adversity to solve a bigger problem that endangers Pixie Hollow. They end up on a wild adventure that includes the Jolly Roger, the tick-tock crock, mermaids, and more!

This was very well done and they way Tink and Iridessa had to work together to figure out the problem they were in was good and very well thought out. It was brilliant and stunning to she them work through the problem and learning more about them selves and each other. Very enjoyable and brilliant.

I was okay with this story, I felt somewhat boring in the middle.

Tinker bell and her friend, Iridessa decided to work together and learning each others boundaries so I believe it is perfect book for the newer generation(^^)

Iridessa is such an interesting character. Particularly in this book, she almost seems like a tinker fairy. She happens to attract the attention of an owl while practicing her light talent, and in turn, ends up being charged with coming up with a plan to eradicate the owl. Naturally, Tinker Bell - the curious, problem-solving tinker fairy that she is - offers to help her friend.

Iridessa, much like Tink, has a bit of a temper and doesn't really like help solving problems. It's kind of fascinating to see Tink have to deal with another fairy who behaves a little bit like she does to other fairies. But as Disney Fairies usually do, they take such things in stride. (To her credit, Iridessa did recognize that she needed to make it up to Tink, but I do get annoyed that culturally fairies don't really do apologies - but a great opportunity to talk to your kiddos about that!)

A lot of these books in this series have a lot of great storylines that showcase fairies growing past something - like fears, doubts, pride, etc. And ultimately, Tink and Iridessa do have to learn to listen to one another and use teamwork. But this book is really mostly just pure fun adventure. It's really a fun what's-going-to-happen-next story where we get to follow Iridessa and Tink and see some of the beautiful parts of the fairy world. I love the worldbuilding in these stories (and the illustrations, as always), and this story really leans into the wonder and creative side of this series.

Iridessa is a light-talent fairy who works hard and tries to be perfect. When she is frightened by an owl one night, she recruits her friend Tinker Bell to help her figure out how to scare the owl away. Tink's adventuresome nature leads them on a risky trip to Captain Hook's pirate ship, where they become trapped in a bottle. Before their adventure is over, they meet a crocodile, a turtle, some flying fish, mermaids, and a blue crab.

This is an exciting story for girls 7-8, who will be delighted with Iridessa's solution to the owl problem.

Loving the fairy series...each book has a reasonably-interesting but not too scary plot, illustrations and 10 chapters that are a good intro to chapter books for my 6 year-old. We are reading these to her at night. We might not be ready yet for her to read them herself, but who cares- these are fun and easy to put a kid to sleep with!
