Since the days of Kublai Khan, I’ve walked among you, living countless lives – warrior, adventurer, and lover. I’ve seen wonders few others have beheld and walked away from terrors that have felled even the bravest of men.
Torn from my home as little more than an animal, I assumed the form of a man. But make no mistake, I am not one of you ... or at least I wasn’t. Once I was an apex predator, living or dying by the rules of the hunt. But now I’m not so certain – the events I’ve witnessed and the friends I’ve made having slowly changed me.
Still, the beast inside is never far from the surface, seeking to drown in blood all who cross my path. Every day brings with a new struggle, but also a new chance to become something more than I once was.
Rick Gualtieri loves to write adventure, mayhem, and snarky dialogue. His bestselling Tome of Bill series combines all of this into a world of supernatural danger with hard-hitting action and plenty of sharp-tongued geeky humor.
Rick lives alone in a dark, evil place called New Jersey with only his wife, three kids, and countless pets to both keep him company and constantly plot against him. When he's not busy monkey-clicking out words, he can typically be found jealously guarding his collection of vintage Transformers from all who would seek to defile them.
I was a big fan of James "The Wanderer" in the original Tome of Bill books. Finally, we get his story. It's a bit disappointing in the fact that it skips ahead a lot and we only understand his "savage" side at the very end. However, I really enjoyed the peaks into his long and fascinating life. I particularly enjoyed James visiting his sister's family and the horrible consequences thereof. A very good vampire story and I am glad I read it. Obviously, you'll get far-far out of this if you've read the original series.
I was so hoping I knew where this was going and I love that it happened.
I doubt that will spoil anything. Once again, the author gives us an inside look at the characters in the Bill universe, and this time, it’s James! We see some familiar characters along his journey through the centuries. This book is a treat, and I can’t wait for the next Bill of the Dead book.
