Andrea Neil is the Amazon bestselling author of eleven books and writes lighthearted fiction about loveable late bloomers. She lives in Oklahoma but grew up in Southern California—and the latter will always be home in her heart. In 2015 she left a job in finance to follow her passion for writing and creating art. With age comes wisdom—or at least a few more stories to tell—and soon Andrea began self-publishing quirky novels with the intention of brightening her readers’ day. When she’s not trying to get her own words onto a page, Andrea edits other people’s fiction, eats dark chocolate, and goes on walks if the weather’s nice. You can find her at www.acneil.com.

The Guthrie Short Stories is the fifth book by Andrea C. Neil in her Beverly Green Adventures Series. This book is a series of stories featuring the characters from the previous books set in Guthrie, Oklahoma. There are seven stories in all. Bookstore Confidential is the first one and it features Beverly Green, her female attorney, Kelly, and her landlord, Leona. Beverly is always in trouble with Leona. This story is funny as it is based on a bunch of misunderstandings, and I found Beverly and Kelly’s ogling together of men to be entertaining as well, and kind of hot in its own way. In “Bill’s Shop”, we find one of Leona’s lovers, Bill, opening a store. Leona only tolerates him because he is “good in the sack.” Bill is a basic kind of guy and he just wants to call the store Bill’s and is frustrated because nobody knows what kind of store it is. And so the stories go, each on a different facet of Guthrie, Oklahoma (where Beverly and these other people live). There is even a story about Beverly’s independent minded, mean ass hen, Beryl.
These are all good natured stories that surprise and please in their own way. Just what we need in this pandemic time we live in.
