Oh yes! Derek has his book and we finally get to learn more about the dark and brooding teammate!
Derek doesn’t say much-ever. He sticks to himself and looks out for his team, that’s what he does. The tall, dark, tattooed man likes things simple and uncomplicated, well until he meets Aiyana!
Aiyana runs the local bar where the SEAL team frequents. She watches them day after day but that’s all- she keeps her distance. She’s got her own drama to deal with and she doesn’t need any more, enter Derek.
This book delivers such an emotional punch and I couldn’t get enough! The characters are so full, complicated, relatable, and realistic that I really felt like I knew them. The details and descriptions about places, events, and the characters are in true Lonergan fashion. Nothing is missed and everything is given.
This is part of a series, though you do not need to read it like that. All background information is given in the current book (we just happen to hear a little about him in the previous book). This story points out some injustices that go unanswered and raises awareness for it.
I strongly recommend this book as it is so enthralling and keeps you on your toes until the very end. I’m already looking forward to reading it again while waiting for book 3!!
This is a slow-burn yet clean romance (think Nicholas Sparks) but with a few darker undertones to it.
Absolutely love everything about this book. The story line. The characters. The emotions. The keep you on the edge of your seat factor. A beautifully written story that brings together suspense and love. Highly highly highly recommend.
