This pretty girl is running from something.I’m not usually one to get involved, but she captivates me from the start.A single mom on the road, looking for a place to hide. From an abusive ex, it would seem. He better not bring his sorry self around here.I’m happy to put him in his place. And I’ve got plenty of experience. With eight brothers, you figure out a thing or two about moving a man’s feet.My family and our ranch land are everything to me.Until she shows up and takes my full attention. And even in the midst of the chaos, all she wants is my dirty hands to hold her, save her, and take her deep into the night.I’ve never been one to deny a lady…
Jessica Mills loves the HEA found in a Hallmark movie, must have coffee first thing in the morning, and a homebody that loves living in the country. She’s definitely family-oriented and an animal lover at heart except for snakes….nope! She recently relocated back to East Tennessee with her husband and daughter to be closer to family, she has a son that lives in Florida, and three furbabies that complete her everyday life. She’s always wanted to be a writer and put the stories from her head to paper. She never thought that would come to fruition until she met Ali Parker.
This is the second book in the Montgomery Boys Series and is Gia and Clayton's story. The Montgomery-Hayes feud is everpresent in this book. She and her daughter Gabby were on the run from an abusive ex and that leads her to the small town of Green Valley. This is where she meets Clayton and he is determined to protect them. A fast burn romance that is overflowing with chemistry. A sweet story that was well written with likable characters. I received a free advanced copy from the author and voluntarily chose to write a review.
This one did nothing to me... It was ok but not great, I would have liked a little more background story for Gia and the relationship felt a little too instalove... Besides... What about condoms?? In every (too long for my taste) sex scene I couldn't stop thinking about them...
The second in the Montgomery Boys and I loved it. I was enchanted from the very beginning when the FMC is hiding with her small child from an abusive ex while the MMC is 1 of 8 siblings that co-work a ranch and he wants a family.
In the first couple of chapters, he mentions how he has always admired the mountains and how they are protection for the family and I knew they were paired perfectly.
Was not nearly as good as the first one. It was an ok story but lacked depth and didn’t flow. It also really annoys me when people write about ranching/cattle/farming and mess up details. Obviously most people wouldn’t notice but if you are going to use it as part of the story then at least be accurate
This was an enjoyable read. Gia is a woman on the run. Her ex was a real piece of work. She lands in small town in Montana. Here she meets Clayton. She never intended to find love or be happy. However, that is exactly what happened.
It started out with so much promise. But I feel it failed to deliver. I've not read book one so maybe I'm missing something but why does the deputy hate the Montgomery's so much?
Oh one of the many sex scenes I am sure Clayton detached Gia's legs 😂 and tosses them over his shoulders.
You have to enjoy long sex scenes that equate to about half the book, AND look past how unbelievably easily the Matteo situation was handled, but it's a well written and enjoyable story.

I really enjoyed this story. Clayton and Gia weren't ever meant to be. Gia was running but found a quiet town to spend some time in. Clayton only had eyes for his family's ranch. The chance meeting turns into so much more. Gia is a single mom who only has her best friend to rely on. Which I'm hoping the best friend also gets a HEA. I loved the friendship between the two. They really will do anything for each other. Gia is stronger than she gives herself credit for. Clayton has a strong responsibility to his family and keeping the ranch running. His plans don't involve a woman for the long term. But one look at Gia and his future changes. He knows her past is something she is having a difficult time sharing so his calm demeanor is just what they both need. This family has definitely peaked my interest and I can't wait to read about the other brothers.
Detached first person isn’t my jam. It lacks emotional connection and reads dry.
Clayton’s POV in the first few chapters almost made me DNF. Gia’s almost made up for it. Almost.
Meandering internal dialogue focused on things that have zero to do with the plot and even less to do with the romance doesn’t make for an engaging read.
The constant references to characters never seen was just annoying. The easy peasy way Gia’s ex was dealt with solidified a 2.5 star rating. Any survivor of DV knows that isn’t how any of it works.
It’s a fairly light hearted read considering the heavy subject matter, which was disappointing. I enjoy reading survivor stories, but this wasn’t it.
It’s a hallmark movie wrapped in cowboy dressing and the introduction of a dirty deputy served no purpose. It hints at angst and drama and never delivers.
Gia, a single mother on the run, is almost knocked over by Clayton, one of the Montgomery brother ranchers, when the stop in Green Valley after leaving life in Sacramento behind. As the story progresses loneliness abates, walls come down, and laying it all on the line could be the step needed to have the promise of a future. Jessica Mills and her Montgomery Brothers series have quickly found their way into my heart, starting with His Reckless Heart and continuing with His Dirty Hands. The sense of family with all its warts is endearing and I cannot wait to read about the remaining brothers finding the happy ending romance readers love.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
I am completely in love with the Montgomery brothers. Clayton is a hard working, kind hearted alpha male with a sensitive side. Gia is a single mom striving to keep her and her daughter safe while also trying to give her a normal childhood. These characters are so great for the other. They each want to find their own special person but don’t go out to look for it. The chemistry between Clayton and Gia was off the charts and the dynamic between the brothers was amazing. His Dirty Hands is a captivating must read small town romance with a little suspense and rivalry thrown into the mix with characters readers will fall in love with. I can’t wait to for the next release of The Montgomery Boys series. “I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this novel.”
Another great book by a really good author, who makes everything so real, you feel like you’re there!Seriously, you can smell the earth and feel the heat and humidity just by reading it.Eight brothers have a ranch by a small town in Montana. The other half of this story is a woman, her three year old little girl, and her best friend who happen on this small town as they are running away from the woman’s abusive ex husband. The women decide this is a good place to settle down and so it goes. There is love, drama and a few stressful moments but it all comes to fruition, which you really need to read to find out what happens. If you read this,I’m sure you’ll agree with how good it is!
I’ve read the first two books in the series. Both of them are interesting and pretty good.
There are certain things that I HATE in romance novels - ie: a woman calling her own breasts perky (wth?? Who does that??), and the use of “staff” and “rod” and other ridiculous immature synonyms. PLEASE stop using them! The book was predictable, but still good despite the formulaic feeling of some of the dialogue. Hoping the other books in this series are written in a more natural/less “look up synonym for c*ck and insert here” style.
Wow, I loved this one!! Clayton, 1 of 8 Montgomery Brothers and Gia. The chemestry between these two was phenomenal from day 1. She had been running for 3 years with her young daughter and best friend Darci, when they come to the small town of Green Valley, where for the 1st time in years she finally feels like it could be her home. Prior to meeting her, Claytons one love is the family ranch. He falls in love with both her and her daughter and soon has another dream. But will she run again when her ex finds her?
I feel like this one maybe needs another book of this couple. Like the writing itself is good don't get me wrong, but to me they didn't progress as far as they should have. I feel like some of the in-between was irrelevant and it could have been more of their HEA.... This is my first book by this author, and while the writing was good I want to read about them living together, being married and living their life out. Not just dating and getting to know each other...
Gia just wants a fresh start and somewhere to finally call home for her and her little girl. Running from an abusive ex isn't easy. She uproots from California with her best friend Darcy and finds herself in a small town that gives her vibes of being home. She decides to stay awhile and see how things go and when she meets local rancher Clayton she begins to finally feel protected and safe. This romance will make you swoon! Can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Gia, her baby daughter with Darby was on the run after His ex boyfriend was trying to find them. They pull into town and talk about staying. The people is friendly and helpful. They meet Clayton and he decides she is the ones d is determined to help them. They get apartment and jobs. Her ex show up while she was trying to close. Clayton and the ex start fighting. The ex gets arrested and Darby decides since His is safe she leaves them together
I had a lot of hope for this series…but it came up a tad “short” in book 2. The storyline had a great premise but fell shorty of the mark when Darcy decided to leave; the characters seem okay and the plot twists and turns seemed fine. The best part of the book—the HEA! It’s a really good one and I know you’ll enjoy it. Grab your copy today!!
She deserved better. And so did her little girl. Moving yet again. To stay ahead. Finally landed where she was safe and felt at home. And one one man who gave the safe p!ace to land . Is the man she should of always had. He loves and her little girl. You couldn't ask for more. Great story.
I did think at times that there was a little too much details for me that swayed me from the main story and it stopped the lovely flow that the author had built yo
It was a well developed story that was both romantic and sexy
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
I liked the story and the characters a lot. Although I realise the story may be a trigger for some dealing with abuse. I did get discouraged with the some of the dialog being essentially the same content written prior under the other character. I found myself skipping whole paragraphs without losing any content.
Bored to tears. The story was okay? But there was way too much exposition… pages and pages and pages of exposition. Seriously. Pages of it, until I was bored to tears. There was very little character development, and I didn’t even get halfway through, because I simply didn’t care enough about the characters to keep reading to get the outcome.
I love the Montgomery Boys, strong, caring, alpha family men. This series is so worth the read! Hurry Jessica I need the next brothers story. If you haven't read Jesse and Claytons stories, what are you waiting for?
I'm hoping it isn't a long wait for the next book. The characters are so real. The story represents true life. I love the way the story is laid out and allowed to develope.
Another book about the the Montgomery boys. Clayton Montgomery was not interested in women except occasionally to blow off steam. The ranch was all that mattered until Gia came along. Then she was all he cared about and the ranch chores were done as quickly as possible.
This wasn't my type of book. Clayton was great but the story was just really slow for me. And there wasn't a lot of chemistry between Clayton and Gia. The characters were great and the plot was good, just a little slow for my taste.
Could be a nice story, but too predictable. There is a lack of character-description. The picture I had for Clayton, was the character in the previous book I read, who also had a scar. Same with Gia; she has dark hair and great boobs. The rest?
