I grew up on these cartoons and loved them. I’ve tried some of the supplemental fiction. This was my first CYOA GIJoe book. It wasn’t as good as the fiction.

The reader plays a made up Joe in each book and decide what everyone does. Which seems very lame as a fan who would love to “be” a real Joe. Also these made up Joes are leading Duke and other high ranking leaders so it’s weird. The inside art is truly horrible. It looks like a six year old won a contest and they used his art for the inside.

All that ragging over with it’s still fun for a fan but I don’t think they hold up well.

This find your own adventure book is fun, probably funner if you can read it, make the decisions it asks for and live with them. After I made it to a positive end, I ended up reading it backward to see what decisions led to what ends. I hadnt read it since I was a kid. I found it for my 9 year old on my parents bookshelf. It was a childhood book of mine and I found it still fun to read.

Shattering web of intrigue and deceit? I think not. Never even got to find out what Dragon Fire was before I blew it up. And Hawk sure looks a lot like Cobra Commander in that first picture. Even when I was a kid I thought this book sucked and 30 years of nostalgia hasn't helped any.
