This book wasn't as exciting as the first.

Rusty was the main character and Lenora was kind of in the background, doing her own thing and avoiding Rusty when he got into trouble.

He's been trying to save up for an engagement ring and that's mostly what the book was about. It starts off cute and fluffy, how he wants her to have a special ring similar to Rosa's necklace but then it goes bad when mobsters threaten to harm Lenora if he doesn't produce the cash he supposedly owes them.

So Rusty takes up as many different jobs as he can to pay them off but it's still not enough and no matter what, he doesn't want to bring Lenora into it, but she's already involved, more than he knows.

I love Rusty but I hated seeing him struggle so much. Why can't these two ever catch a break and enjoy some peace and quiet? Still, I prefer Lenora as a main character to Rusty. He has his charms but I like her more.

Frederick was so annoying. SHE'S TAKEN, BACK OFF. I'm so happy about that punch.

And the government agent made a return (albeit a brief one), that was the real highlight for me.

The Knock Over has a slightly different feel from Moonshine Murder...the timing isn't exactly specified but it feels both months in the future and only days afterwards and it's somewhat simpler. The flow doesn't match the first one, if that makes sense.

And the ending? It was fine and all but I was expecting a big event...guess I'll have to wait for the next book to see that (unless if it's skipped over, PLEASE don't skip over it, I want to see them happy).

The Knock Over is the second book in the Moonshine Murder Mysteries and is a great sequel to the first book.

This book takes up where the Moonshine Murder took off and tells of Rusty's struggles to leave Colorado with Lenora. This story has mobsters, danger, suspense, and action.

I enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was fairly sure I would like this one as well. And I did, but you don't need to read the first book to enjoy the second book. Rusty and Leonora are the main characters again, and they are planning to marry. A big conflict arises when Denver mobsters expect Rusty to pay off his former partner's debt, and he doesn't have the money. I loved the suspense, trying to figure out how he was going to solve this problem...without telling Leonora and without putting her in danger. I wasn't sure how the story would be resolved until the last few pages...a satisfying ending. I was left wanting to know more about this couple, and was happy to learn that the author--E.S. Jameson--has written a third book for this series.

This is the 1st book that I read by this author. Rusty is attempting to live life on the straight and narrow. However, his past life comes back to haunt him and endangering the life of Lenora. I believe the author has a good storyline and I am,looking forward to more books from E.S.. I received this ARC in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I have freely written here

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I liked the flow of the boom and the plot was amazing. Things that you thought were going to happen did and things you had no idea was going to happened happened. I love the writing and it is definitely a fast read. Love the main characters and got very emotional when things happened throughout the book.

THE KNOCK OVER BY E.S JAMESON

This is the second book in the moonshine murder mystery.

Rusty, an ex-moonshiner is determined to do the right thing and protect the love of his life. It means “Desperate Times, Desperate Measures.”

Rusty, once a moonshiner and now a bank teller, is saving every penny he earns, eager to marry Lenora and get out of Silverton, Colorado. When Denver mobsters threaten him over his former partner’s debt, his life is in danger—and so is Lenora’s.

Rusty must find the money to repay the debt, and he’ll stop at nothing to keep Lenora safe, even if it means losing her. Desperate times, desperate measures—and Lenora has some plans of her own.

I liked the flow of the book and the plot was quite smooth moving. The events could be predicted. But I felt that this book was not as interesting as the first book.

The Knock Over, picks up sometime after book 1. I expected Rusty and Lenora to be in California but they're still in Colorado. There's no explanation why they were still there, at the end of book 1 Rusty had left a note for Lenora to join him to California.?. Anyway, the story of mainly Rusty's POV, was good. He's a smart man who just wants peace and a quiet life with Lenora. There are twists, turns, kinks and tunnels to get worked out to reach that point. It won't be easy.

The Knock Over is a fantastic sequel to Moonshine Murder. It covers the story of saving as much as he can to marry Lenora and get out of town. But, when confronted by mobsters to repay a former partners debt, both he and Lenora and thrown into a world of Danger.

I highly recommend this book if you are a Teen or adult with a craving for a Historical Mystery. You won't be able to put it down!
