Status: S1 Finished with 42 chapters, S2 will be coming in July.
Even though it has pretty much the same premise as Daughter of the Emperor Season One and They Say I Was Born A King's Daughter this one is more cuter with brighter art and the plot thickens more quickly. The father is such an ''asshole'' again and at the beginning, you feel like nothing he has done would ever make up the fact that he neglected her, hated her, killed her for something really stupid and then doesn't even regret killing her after she was but oh well as always, PAPA is the magic word that will be the key to open the cold heart of the king (づ￣ ³￣)づ

It’s got all that reincarnation and fantasy stuff, but honestly, the real gem is the crazy emotional ride between little Athanasia and her psycho dad. At first, he’s this stone-cold emperor who’s supposed to kill her, but as things go on, we start seeing little cracks in that tough guy act. And the father-daughter adorable moments where he softens his heart, where he starts to care (even if he won’t admit it right away), are just chef’s kiss. Broken families healing and unexpected bonds forming, that’s what I’m here for.
The ending might feel a bit weird or, like, hard to believe, it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment at all

That's right ya girl is reading another Reincarnation novel! AVOID THE BAD ENDS ATHY!!
Season 1 ended with Chapter 46 (according to TappyToon, where I'm reading it in English) and of course it ends with Lucas (the boy warlock) being like "gonna peace!"
My dream is for Lucas and Athy to end up together. I'm hopeful. Ijekiel (what is this name) is... suspicious and verging into dere-dere land (seems more yandere than tsundere, but I'm not ruling it out).
Meanwhile holy moley the Emperor is scary, but seeing the bits we did of why he's the way he is towards Athy makes sense. Can't wait to find out he's cursed or something.
Jennette is...also suspicious to be honest? But moreso in she has a "perfect family" in mind and I'm worried if it doesn't happen she'll go nuclear.

I got carried away and ended up rereading it from the start in one sitting again. (I need to sleep)I really missed Athy as a baby! I honestly just want her and Lucas to get together and murder everyone. I love the drama and twists the whole story takes. one of thee best isekai manhwas, i love how the story focused more on the bond btw a father and daughter instead of the usual romance plot line. I read this back in 2021 but it was unfinished at that time, however rereading this was rlly good too.

Before I tell you guys what this webcomic is about, I’m walking into this thinking it’s an incest story. I mean, the cute blonde girl in papa’s lap? Plus, if you check out the first chapter she wants her papa to love her and his response is something like I’ve never seen you as my daughter, so you bet my forbidden romance senses started tingling! Unfortunately, I’ve yet to confirm if this is actually the case (ngl, I want it to be incest, I kinda ship them!!)
If it turns out to not be incest, well, you’re in for a very close relationship between these two
Before dying, “Athanasia” remembers reading a book by the name Lovely Princess. The story is about a princess who was outcasted by her father at her birth and sent to the Ruby Palace to be cared for by maids. At the age of 9, the princess meets her father by chance. At age 14, the princess, and all of the Empire, finds out she has a sister named Janette and whatever favor she had gained from the court and her father is redirected to her more charismatic and sweet sibling. At the age of 18, the princess is killed by her father. The name of this princess is also Athanasia so it’s only natural that “Athanasia” starts to plan her life with the purpose of living past 18 when she realizes she’s been reincarnated into this tragic story!
The first step is to avoid meeting her father when she turns 9! The second is that she starts sneaking jewels and gold from the Ruby Palace so that when she runs away, she will have some way to live properly.
Of course, this all goes down the drain when she accidentally meets her father four years in advance and he starts to take an interest in her. In order to avoid being killed on the spot, Athanasia decides that charming her father is the best way to stay alive. But how exactly do you charm a heartless man who killed everyone in the Ruby Palace the day she was born, and only spared her because he thought Athanasia’s naming was amusing?
If you read that summary and didn’t instantly want to find out what happens OR saw the Emperor’s cold glare and didn’t want to see more, who exactly are you? An angel? A saint? Because I instantly saw both of these things actually just his face and fell in love. In fact, I binged this webcomic so quickly I was having withdrawal symptoms when it went on break for the second season (yes, webcomics have seasons)
I suppose my second favorite part of this webcomic (or third if we include the gorgeous art), is that while we “know” the story, we still don’t know what’s going to happen. For example, Athy knew she was going to meet her father when she turned 9 when she gets lost, but because she started sneaking away jewels from the Ruby Palace (and into a neighboring one), she “changed fate” and ended up hurrying their meeting
Likewise, even though the original story shows that she’s going to die at the age of 18 because her father and all the court prefer her sister Janette…is that really the case?
The first time we start seeing that perhaps fate is changing again is when Athy is coerced into singing her Papa a song to chase away the bad dreams. During this time, she also falls asleep and when the Emperor wakes up, he uses his magic to allow Athy to dream of her mother. This was actually pretty big because Claude had gotten rid of everything that depicted this woman and forbade anyone to ever talk about her
It seemed like the only relics this woman had existed resided in Claude’s memories and in Athy’s appearance
We also get to see even more of Claude finally opening up to Athy as she begins to grow up. It’s actually hilarious watching this because Athy’s plan seemed to have worked at 200% and Claude ends up being even scarier than a doting parent. Such are the wonders of being the Emperor. And my poor redheaded guard must suffer the consequences of his Emperor’s jealousy and possessiveness!
If these two weren’t blood-related, I would have no problems calling a romance (although technically Athy isn’t Athy…oh man that’s complicated, is she really not? Or IS she regardless of her past life? I mean, she doesn’t really see him as her father, more like someone she has to please in order to not die and with recent events…HMM).
Speaking of romances, it almost seems like Athanasia is the only one who isn’t really interested in romance (even though she’s not completely oblivious to her charm). I guess she’s just too busy trying to save herself from execution to really worry about all her suitors right now.
As for who these suitors may be, I call Claude for wanting to keep her forever and away from guys (overprotective? or something else? hehe), Lucas for being so caring and indulging her in the simplicities of life (plus I love that he’s so particular about insulting her), and Ijekiel…that weirdo who is the “main love interest” in the storybook (not to her) and who also knows about Janette’s existence. As you can guess, I don’t really favor that guy. Plus, he’s a little too pure for my tastes. Also, I’d like to keep the redhead guard as my own, Felix is SO ADORABLE
Season one actually ends up at a very INTENSE cliffhanger that might give this story a whole new twist! I don’t want to spoil anything but so far this story has been really good! All the boys are super cute but I have to say my love is with Claude, second with Lucas, and last with prince charming Ijekiel (or rather No love!).
Ok all her suitors are kind of old with the exception of Ijekiel but I have a weird feeling about him. He seems to really like Athy but because he’s in on the Janette secret it’s like I just can’t like him? Like, you are about to ruin Athy’s patiently and carefully laid out life plan! And I feel even more dislike for Janette because she’s so “pure”. It’s very annoying…oh god, my true colors are showing through!
But if there’s one thing I really want to see in season two, it’s more about the inner workings of Claude. I just have this thought, possible prediction? about how he acts and the way his magic works, and I want to see if I’m right or if I’ve just been completely brainwashed by his beautiful face
Also, I think it’s pretty obvious but I actually really like Athy as a main character. She’s very rough around the edges, which I think is courtesy of her past life. While she tries to act very cute around Claude (especially in the early years), there’s something very “vulgar” about her that makes her refreshing. Not really what you’d expect of a princess but also she is

Thanks to the amazing Ky, I am reading Manga, which I NEVER would have found myself. They are so funny and addictive, you just can't help but read the next chapter and the next and neglect my actual book. Athy starts out in this as a baby and I was laughing from the beginning.
This one hasn't been as much about the romance, and surprisingly that hasn't mattered at all. It's been about a blossoming relationship between father and daughter! Dad: Claude is one of the most unique characters I've ever come across, I love how he's always half dressed. He is MY type of character, he is so ruthless to everyone except Athy! Those flashes of a soft side to him are LIFE!
There's three love interests for Athy. I won't mind if it's Felix or Lucas! Season 2, please deliver!

The manhwa is really cool. Nice drawings (even though the eyes and mouth looked weird from Athanasia twice). The plot is something new to me and at first I wasn't sure if I will like it, but I am glad that the whole 'it's from a book I read' plot is not exactly like the book the protagonist read, otherwise it would have been boring. Athanasia is a smart girl and I think she is forced to act and speak like her age as her body still needs to learn, even though her mind already knows how. If not, then that would be a logic mistake as sooner or later she would have definitely slipped a word or acted more adult-like. The plot is unique and the characters and how they behave (especially Athanasia) is funny. There were lots of moments I just chuckled as they were funny. The book also has relatable content like the way Athanasia reacts to seeing her father for the first time. I would react the same!
Definitely a nice read. Planning to read the next chapters and volumes!

One of the best webtoons with reincarnation and transgression into a book out there at the moment, one of the ones that made this kinda theme so popular and get adapted more into webtoons (and it's even going to get an animation version soon!).
Let me preface by saying there is no incest of any sort in this story!
I, also, must say Claude is indeed a DILF, the man drank from the fountain of young & hot and became an Adonis.
The story is legitimate in being tense and stressful about Athy's dire situation and her trying to change it to be able to survive from the novel's bad end. I really like that she starts the story as a baby, I felt more emotionally connected and attached to her seeing her grow up.
A must read for sure, even if it's just for Spoon's amazing artwork and detail!

With all the shoujo isekai I've been reading lately this one didn't interest me right away, not until I read The Abandoned Empress and I Belong to House Castielo—which both have that father/daughter dynamic. Now I can't get enough I need more stories with father/daughter relationships as a focal point (￣ε￣) (but I guess my interest stems from the fact that the father doesn't seem/or doesn't love the daughter so the daughter has to gain his affection...) Anyways the art style for this is gorgeous, actually all the manhwas I'm reading are very pretty, and I'm excited for season 2.

*edit* okay, I just reread this. I'm currently on chapter 100. I still love this manhwa and I'm still team Lucas. I care for Clause but man is he aggravating. I know this is unpopular opinion but I don't really care for Athys mom. Usually when I read manhwa's I don't care for the children but in this case I don't care for the mom. We just don't know much about her and we were never shown the blooming romance between Clause and her so it makes it difficult for me to care for her. I just want Clause to love Athy and treat her right.
I guess Clause will always love Lillian more then his daughter.
Btw if I don't get Clause truly regretting and lamenting his mistreatment towards Athy in future chapters ima riot. 🤣🤣

I read this and I'm sad now.
At first, I kept pushing this manhwa off because I thought it was going to be like the manhwa They Say I'm The Kings Daughter (or whatever it's called.) I don't like reading about Pedophilia or incest so I was wary. Also Im not really into this father daughter trope.
BUT then I saw a sad video about this manhwa and decided to go for it and finally read it. I'm so glad I did!! This is a beautiful and heartbreaking story.
This is about a girl who wakes up in a book about a princess who just wants to be loved by her father but the father is a cruel and heartless man who ended up killing said princess. The MC knows about her future death so she thinks up plans to survive!
I really wanted to hate Clause, the dad, but I just can't find it in myself to do it. He's just so damn handsome! 😩😩 I took off a star because he's just so mean!
Don't even think about it and just read this. You won't regret it.
