Callahan Family #1

Warning Track

Rate this book
Colleen Callahan is exactly where she’s always dreamt of being.

From a young age, she’s been groomed to take over as general manager of the Packton Pistons, her family’s professional baseball dynasty. Except she never expected her father would have to go to prison for the role to become hers.

The public, and even her own family, are counting on the first female to wear the title to fail. Hoping to wipe the slate clean and clear the club’s name, Colleen vows to put her job above everything else. Friends, a social life, her well-being, and most of all, love.

Until she meets the team’s new star player. Their chemistry is instant, igniting the stadium and her heart. But the last thing she needs is a distraction, much less a surly God of the clay diamond who seems to despise her.

Fate has other plans, though. If they’re found out, it could mean the end of both of their careers. Except hurtling so close to the danger zone has never felt more right.

Hayes Swindell would prefer hell over the place he ended up.

After a series of bribes and blackmail gone bad, the league’s most desirable veteran superstar finds himself playing on a team that he wants no part of. The family who runs this dynasty is corrupt, and he’s spent his career avoiding limelight exactly like this.

With a chip on his shoulder and the intention to hightail it out of Pennsylvania as soon as his one-year contract is up, he has no plans to fall for the very woman he should stay away from.

In his ten years in the league, he’s never once gotten bit by the love bug. But the moment he lays eyes on her, Hayes can see his days are numbered. When the forbidden happens, he has a decision to make.

Should they head for disaster together, risking it all, or course-correct and save themselves the ultimate price of heartbreak and scandal?

FIVE BASEBALL STARS for Colleen and Hayes 💙🖤💙🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’m glad Carrie is back to writing sports romances because it’s the trope that attracted me to her books and her writing.

"Warning Track" is a sweet sports romance with a slow burn trope that will steal your heart.

Colleen is a female character who will do anything no matter how long or difficult the road to success and despite the difficulties that life throws before her.

Hayes is a male character who is willing to fight for Colleen and her dreams because he knows she is right for him and worth every fight.

Colleen and Hayes' relationship is sweet and hot at the same time and it gives you all the feels through the whole book.

If you're looking for a sports romance and you also love Carrie's writing style, then you should read this book next!!!

Highly recommended!!!

Carrie Aarons brings a mixture of sweet, steamy and forbidden romance in this new stand-alone novel, Warning Track. The story follows Hayes Swindell, a veteran baseball player, and Colleen Callahan, the general manager for the Packton Pistons. Both of these characters have their own sets of issues, yet they're brought together when Colleen takes over managing the team after her disgraced father is sent to prison. Her father's corrupt dealings brought shame to the Callahan name, so she has her work cut out for her in trying to turn things around. In order to do so, she puts her job above all else - friends, family, a social life and definitely any kind of a love life.

Hayes spent ten years playing ball in LA but due to unforeseen circumstances, he now finds himself in Pennsylvania playing for a team that he wants no part of. The family that runs this team is crooked, but unfortunately he's stuck playing for them for one year. After that he plans to hightail it out of there and never look back. What he doesn't plan on is falling for the woman whose father is responsible for him landing here. But is being together worth the risk of scandal and the possible damage to their reputations and careers?

I absolutely loved this story. The chemistry between Colleen and Hayes was sizzling hot, and the fact that their relationship was forbidden made it all the more exciting. I simply could not get enough of these two. The romance. The feels. I'm wrecked by it. Such a sweet, sexy, charming, heartfelt and dreamy read. I was completely swept away in all of it. This is another fabulous read by Carrie Aarons that I just know you won't want to miss! Five stars for Colleen, Hayes and Warning Track!

i never knew i needed a love and baseball book until now. baseball men are just superior, don’t argue with me on it.

women in sports make my heart happy. especially when they are managers 🥰 but what i love even more is women in sports who stand up to the men who think women don’t belong in sports.

the sprinkler scene reminded me of troy and gabriella in high school musical & made me laugh 🤣

such a fun and easy read!!

Two of my favorite series’ tropes to read: family and sports! YAY Carrie Aarons did an excellent job with this slow-burn touching romance! The push/pull between our leads was expertly folded into the story and it was realistic to the circumstances and ya’ll know how much I love realism in my romance fiction! I had a huge smile thru the entire reading of this story! I definitely should be reading more from this author!

This book is book #1 in this new series Callahan Family and is a real sports romance/ enemies to lovers romance that you don't want to miss.

Colleen is a beautiful, strong independent woman that has always been around sport and she is now the manager of the business only things didn't happen in away that she thought. Her father is in prison and the scandal surrounding the family is huge. Colleen decided that she will make it work no matter how hard things get and she has a long road ahead of her.
Hayes is a player on the team, something he is so not happy about. He is cocky and he is also a man that does what he knows is right and that right now is to keep his head down and buckle down. All he wants to do is get through the season and get to where he wants to be away from here.

The way that this author has written this book is awesome. The story flows beautifully and the characters were great, they have a lot of chemistry between them both and the journey that they go on together is a tough one. At first it seems as though they wont get on at all, but I just love the way that he is with in and how protective he is, I always love that in a man its so beautiful to see. I was really rooting for them both and there love and hoping right until the end that they would both get there very own HEA. This book will make you feel what they feel and the drama and emotional roller coaster will have you turning the pages so fast. If you love slow burn sports romance then this book is right up your street and I cant wait to read more from this series and this author in the future.

Colleen Callahan always expected to become the General Manager of her family’s baseball team, the Packton Pistons, just not like this. After her dad was sentenced to 2-years in prison for illegal trading & team management, Colleen is taking over as GM. And unfortunately for her, not everyone is so happy she’s taking on the position after what her father did.

10-year pro, Hayes Swindell is nee to the Pistons and is one of the players who fell victim to Jimmy Callahan’s scheming ways. At first, he wants nothing to do with Colleen, but as time passes, not only does he realize her true intentions as the new GM, but sparks fly between them. Neither Hayes nor Colleen can deny their mutual attraction, but if word got out about their secret affair, they both could lose their hard-earned careers…

Warning Track by Carrie Aarons is book 1 in the Callahan Family series. I really enjoyed this forbidden sports meets small town romance. Hayes & Colleen worked well together and I enjoyed them as individual characters too. I don’t come across baseball romances I love too frequently so I was happy to find a new series to be excited for. Definitely recommend if the tropes are right up your alley! 4/5 stars.

description
This was such a good book by Carrie Aarons. An Enemies to Lovers, sports romance, kind of office romance. It had quite a bit going on. But it was well written and had an excellent flow to it.

I liked both Colleen and Hayes. Colleen was a little fragile after everything that was going on in the beginning of the story. But she really grew into her own and gained confidence as the story continued.

Hayes was very angry and resentful in the beginning. Another thing that was completely understandable given the circumstances. But as the story progressed I saw him let his walls down with some of those around him. In the end I was rooting for both of them and their romance.

I will definitely be looking forward to reading more in this series. One character in particular I am hoping to see get his HEA.

Another great read from this author. Loved this book so much!

"There is this spark between us, I recognize the primal feeling in my chest. I knew it the first time I saw her."

Colleen Callahan has a tough job on her hands. Stepping into the shoes of her disgraced father, she's the best person to take over as General Manager of the Packton Pistons baseball team - even in the face of much opposition from her team and her own family. She has her job absolutely cut out for her but she's resilient and resolute in turning the organisation around, and hauling the team back out of the pit of ill-repute.

"There is something in his presence that feels lethal, that alerts me to the fact that we're no longer flirting with the line of no return."

Hayes Swindell is something of a veteran baseball player. He doesn't want to be in Packton, especially playing for a team owned by the crooked Callahan family. It irks him even more that he's undeniably attracted to the new GM, which influences his jerky behaviour towards her. However, when he gets a wake-up call about his attitude, he realises that he has to make the best of things, and he slowly starts to thaw towards Colleen and let some of his new teammates into his life. One traumatic incident for Colleen changes the trajectory of their relationship, and has them crossing lines and risking more scandal, their reputation and their careers.

"My God, I will never get enough of this woman. That might be the most dangerous part of this whole thing."

I was so caught up in this story. Hayes and Colleen were electric together. The forbidden aspect of their relationship added another layer of excitement to their pairing. I loved watching his psychology about his job and Colleen changing. I thrilled at the gradual build-up in their relationship and the moment when he couldn't take it anymore and pretty much stormed over the line of propriety. Colleen is a tough cookie with a really soft centre. She put a brave face on things but she was so good at her job and determined to push ahead, in spite of the negativity that surrounded her appointment. I loved the stolen moments and the deeper connection they made, and the wholly satisfying ending! Hayes' devotion to Colleen made me swoon! This was a such a brilliant, sexy, emotional story. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Warning Track by is the first book in a new sports series about the Callahan Family. And what a great story and start to a new series. A forbidden love sports romance that had me page-turning from the very start.

This was such a great story. I loved the main characters, Hayes and Colleen. They are such good people with flawed lives and it was a joy watching their story unfold. This is a fabulous sports romance that hits the right spot. Lots of heart and heat with a fantastic epilogue. It left me ready for the upcoming books in this series. I really enjoyed this first book in the Callahan series and I’m really looking forward to the next one.

Play ball!!!

I absolutely loved this jewel. Even though I love sport romance, baseball is actually the one sport I stay away from. That’s why I just couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed this read.

Hayes and Colleen both stoke my heart. They are fantastic characters. Both with their love for this sport. Her desperate to show she’s the right person for the job and he is a veteran player. The chemistry is instant and even though a relationship would be taboo they can’t seem to stay away from each other.

From the first to the last page I hung on every word and couldn’t get enough of these characters and can’t wait to see where the author takes us next. Very excited for this series.

Warning Track by Carrie Aarons is definitely one of the best sports romance of 2020. It had all the sweet and swoonworthy feels. It had the drama and twists to keep me glued to the pages. Amazing characters. Adorable and steamy chemistry. Great writing. What more can you want from a sports romance?

Colleen Callahan took charge of their family baseball team when they were being dragged through mud for her father's illegal activities and imprisonment. She may have been trained by her grandfather and father for the role of general manager since childhood but she still has to prove herself. Hayes is one of the players acquired by her father's manipulation and lies. And he doesn't want to be here. But he is a legend and baseball is his life. And somehow these two unlikely allies start feeling something. And it's way too risky. What is important? Career? Love?

So I loved how well structured and well paced this story was. I never felt the story is getting dull or boring. It had a healthy dose of hardcore sports moments those are absolutely necessary for me to fall in love with a sports romance. I loved both Colleen and Hayes so much. Colleen is such a strong character. She is always judged by media for her father. Her own family doesn't support her fully because she is young and female. The baseball community and the players don't trust the team. But she powered through everything and worked so hard to get back the team's former glory. My heart breaks for this amazing fierce and confident woman because of the negative and derogatory ways people treat her. But my girl showed them who she is. And I love it! She also dealt with her issues those were holding her back and came out stronger.

Hayes is so amazing himself. I admit he was being a bit harsh and cruel to Colleen but that was more of him taking out own anger and frustration. I admire him for giving his best to the team even though he didn't want to be here. And he recognised how incredible Colleen is and stood by her every single time! I am just so in love with his caring and protective ways. He can be hard to anyone trying to break her and totally soft while taking care of her. The chemistry was insane. All the swoooons and sighs. And also hot. There were bumps along the road. Heartbreak. Pain. Confusion. Loneliness. But the happily ever after was so beautiful. They were breaking so called rules and they did try to protect each other by staying away for the ourside world but their love was too strong and precious.

If you love sports romance, Warning Track by Carrie Aarons is a must read for you! It was beautiful and captivating every way possible.

This is the start of a brand new series by Carrie Aarons and truthfully I’m not a huge fan on sports romance stories, but Carrie managed to write this in such a captivating way that it made me fall in love with the story that she was telling. Even though it’s a sports romance book, it’s written in a way that made me forget that this isn’t my typical genre. Overall I think that Carrie has done a good job with this and considering it’s the beginning she had me hooked on the characters, they are all an interesting bunch and with quite a bit going on, you just couldn’t help but be drawn in by it all.
I thought the chemistry between both Colleen and Hayes was just sparkling, you could tell from the first moment that once they gave into their attraction for each other it was going to be fireworks. I preferred Hayes being honest over Colleen, there was just something about him that spoke out to me. Don’t get me wrong though, Colleen was a great character and she did a great jo when it came to turning around the team, but there was just something off about her.
One thing that bothered me, was that you never get to find out what becomes of her Uncle after she stands up for herself to him, it would have been interesting to see what happened because that is when you start to see her blossoming even more and making a name for herself.
Other than that, I do think the story flowed quite well and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in the series.

Colleen has been groomed for the role of general manager of the Packton Pistons, however her dream has come way too early, thanks to her father’s crimes. Now she’s in the role and having to make everything work in her favour so that people don’t think that she took the easy way to get the job. However, with her father still doing interviews and trying to take her down from prison, it’s not an easy job, but she is still doing her best to turn the team around. However, one night when she bumps into Hayes he happens to make the mistake of thinking she’s entitled and can’t be trusted just because of her name and family… But unfortunately for him, he can’t seem to get her out of his head. It’s clear that there’s an attraction between the two, but will they give into it???
Will Colleen be able to turn the team around and show her Uncle and the executives that she deserves the position that she’s got?

Warning Track is the first in a new series of baseball romances about the Callahan family, with Hayes and Colleen’s story being a great introduction into the family, the players, and the team!

Colleen has just taken over the general manager position of the Packton Pistons from her corrupt father, who has just been put into prison for fraud and blackmail. There’s a black cloud over the club, and she’s already under the pressure of her uncle as well as the media, who believe she will fail at her new role. But Colleen has been training her entire life for this moment, it’s her legacy and she is so ready to prove them all wrong. Hayes is a newly signed player to the Pistons, one that Colleen’s father obtained illegally, so he is angry and distraught at how he was manipulated into being a part of this disgraced team. He takes his anger out on Colleen, who quickly tells him how misplaced it is, but they still continue to butt heads, all the while hiding their attraction. Because acting on their chemistry would only cast the team in an even worser light, something Colleen is trying to change. But as they become closer, they realise not acting on their growing feelings isn’t possible, they just have to keep it a secret, but can they?

Both Hayes and Colleen had difficult childhoods which shaped them into the people they were as adults. Hayes had struggled to form meaningful relationships, always expecting the other shoe to drop, keeping his main focus on baseball, but he knew the minute he met Colleen she would change that. Colleen had always tried to live up to the men in her family’s expectations, but when she was thrown into the role early, she soon realised she had to stand up for herself. I adored her speech to her uncle about how she would’ve been treated if she were a man, addressing everyday sexism in the workplace, go Colleen! But as a couple they brought out the best in one another. Hayes could see a life and future outside of baseball, realising he had had his moment, and Colleen began to have more faith in herself. Can’t wait for more from this family, especially Walker! Definitely worth a read!

I love me a good sports romance and this author has created another fantastic read. Colleen has been raised on baseball her whole life, been groomed from a young age to take over her family team so baseball is a part of who she is. She is trying to fight against the stigma her father created with the family name and baseball by doing illegal dealings, etc. It isn’t an easy road for her because of being a woman in a man’s sport and her last name being tainted she has a lot to prove but she is fierce, strong, and believes she is the best at her job. I loved how strong she was even when it would have been easy for her to give up, she preserved and held strong. When she first runs into Hayes, he is resentful and out to hate everyone in the Callahan family especially her, yet she holds her head high and persists. Hayes hasn’t had it easy lately with his baseball career being shifted to a team he hates so he wants to hate Colleen, but he finds himself wanting to know more about her. They fight attraction because it would be unethical and the media would blow up with such a scandal, but attraction can only be fought for so long before chemistry takes a part and turns into more. I loved Hayes, he was the strong silent type with a slight of a cocky edge but mostly he liked keeping his life personal and not showboating it. He was such an amazing sports character that I found loving everything about him just because he was so different from most I have read about and Colleen was such a strong hardworking woman that believed in herself and knew she could do this, but can they keep things a secret or will feelings grow into more and they find it hard to stay in the shadows with their relationship? Will Colleen finally realize her father’s actions do not ever determine who she is, or will she give everything up because things get too hard? Such a great read and loved all the secondary characters as well.

So excited to see where this series goes! Colleen has been groomed to take over the family business from a young age and it’s been all she has ever wanted – especially after her father’s betrayal. Hayes was one of the last that got stuck thanks to Colleen’s father’s betrayal to the league and he’s extremely unhappy about having to stay but won’t let it affect his game. While there’s an instant attraction for both of them, they acknowledge how frowned upon a potential relationship is and they try to fight it – until something happens to Colleen that changes the game for Hayes and he decides to pursue her. While they have a relationship in hiding, everyone knows it’s not sustainable and when someone finds out it causes a ripple effect that affects both their careers. Hayes – what a freaking man! I loved how he really sacrificed for Colleen and focused on her dreams. It made my heart melt! I hope that we get more from this book world – I would love to see what happens with the other players as well as Colleen’s cousin!

I finished this book at 1am! I couldn’t put it down... I loved this story & these characters. Hayes and Colleen were wonderful characters abs their attraction to one another was great. As much as Hayes didn’t want to fall for Colleen sometimes fate & your heart has different pathways set out.

Both Hayes and Colleen have had difficult pasts and upbringings. Neither having the best of family relations when it comes to parents.

With Colleen on the role of General Manager & Hayes being one of the star players for the Packton Pistons, they simply cannot have any form of friendship or relationship. Sparks would fly from all angles, accusations would be made, and their futures in the sport they both love so much would be under threat.

Can they find a way into each other’s hearts? And can Hayes move past all his beliefs and the lies he’s been lead to believe from the Callahan family?

A wonderful, slightly forbidden, sports romance which I loved!!

Really looking forward to Walkers story!!

The one thing that Colleen has always known is that it was her destiny to manage her family’s baseball time, but she never expected it would be due to her father’s ethics and that it would be without support. She is feeling the pressure of not making a wrong move which would only prove to all the people who think she isn’t capable that they are right.

Hayes is a professional baseball player who was enjoying his life and career with his previous team until a questionable trade finds him on a struggling team with a bad reputation. All he wants is to fulfill his obligations and then move on to a situation of this own choosing, but he didn’t think the biggest challenge he would face would be for the woman he considers his enemy.

Both Colleen and Hayes find themselves in a situation not of their own choosing and they know in their heads that a relationship between them could be detrimental to both their careers, but their hearts don’t seem to agree. The only question that remains is if the risk of them being together is worth the reward.

Warning Track by Carrie Aarons is the first book in a new series of interconnected couples, the Callahan Family, and I loved it! This enemies to lovers slow burn sports romance was emotional, touching and had all the best feels. For Colleen Callahan, baseball was in her blood. Her family owned and operated the Packton Pistons and she was raised knowing she would one day be the general manager, but after the family name was marred with bad publicity, everyone expected her to fail. She was determined not to do so. I loved Colleen. She was so strong and determined, but also vulnerable.

Hayes Swindell does not want to play for the Pistons. He is counting down the days until he can leave and go back to the team he loves. Hayes was angry and stubborn, but he also showed a caring side to those he cares about. When Hayes and Colleen meet, their connection and chemistry is instant and steamy. But with all the bad history with the team, nothing can happen between them, right? Nothing comes between either of them and their love of baseball, but what if this is meant to be? Their story was heartbreaking, poignant and sweet. I loved it and am excited to read more of this series!

Warning Track by Carrie Aaron’s is a forbidden love sports romance that will have you page-turning and hoping for a Happily Ever After.

When Coleen Callahan inherits the role of General Manager for the Pennsylvania Pistons, it is met with backlash and upset. She is desperate to right the wrongs of her disgraced father, trying her best to appease players that were dodgily signed to the club. Amongst them, is Hayes, disgruntled player who is determined to see the season out and return back to L.A. But if Hayes thought it was going to be easy, he is wrong.

Through the anger and the drama, Hayes and Colleen connect in a way that they have been unable to with another person. Neither of them know what the future holds, but they know their romance could have damning consequences. Will they ride it out together, or will they call it a day and walk away from the biggest game of all, love?

The story is a great light-hearted read with characters that you can’t help but like, and want to succeed. Aarons writing style enables you to become embroiled in the drama, and Hayes is pretty bad ass.

I look forward to see where these books go, and I am hoping for the opportunity to read Walker’s story.

A great book that is perfect for sports romance lovers,
Or those who enjoy forbidden love/ enemies to lovers tropes.

First I must say that I don’t usually read sports romance books. I don’t connect with them, as we are not a sports family and don’t know how to relate HOWEVER, this first book in Carrie’s newest sports romance series was amazing!

I loved the characters and how they were real. I love books that have flawed characters, they are real and easy to connect to.

I can’t wait to read more about this awesome sports family.

Alright Callahans, way to start the series.

Each book that Aarons drops, I say it, so I’ll say it this time too. As long as she writes it, I’ll read it. There’s just something so gentle about her take on romance, makes me want to wrap up in a cuddly soft blanket and devour the words on the page.

Hayes & Colleen definitely don’t have an easy road. However, even while the road was rocky, they were steady in the affection for one another. That speaks volumes to me. His character was just so incredibly kind, and Colleen’s was a girl finding her place in the world.

A tangled road to happiness, but together they can weather the storm.

What a great story and start into a new series.

I absolutely adore this book. From the gorgeous cover to the characters this book is just great.

Colleen and Hayes story starts of as a slight enemies to lovers romance but the distaste in the beginning quickly fades to a wonderfull lovestory.

Hayes is a baseball player. He got transfered to a new team under false pretenses. Colleen is the new general manager of said team and also the daughter of a corrupt, money hungry guy who made alot of people suffer including Hayes.

Warning Track is a slow burning, sweet and overall feel good story. They do have ther ups and downs and the beginning is a little rough but overall I really enjoyed their story and I‘m very curious about many different side characters.
