I bought this book for my daughters. It’s an easy read with helpful tips on how to “make being a teenager suck less”. I applaud Maeve Ronan as an author, speaker and mentor for young adults and teens. It is clear that her passion is to help others. She is a very popular on TikTok and has led an interesting life so far. I would’ve enjoyed hearing more about it! Although most reviews from teens express that the book is very relatable through her 3 simple steps - start, believe and appreciate - I wish she went a little deeper, gave more examples, offered more tools. I know that the book has helped so many teens, and that is really the point, but, in my opinion, she underestimates cognitive capacities of young adults. I would recommend as an overview, just wish we heard more about her travels, the people she met and more in-depth strategies to combat teen depression. I wish her the best of luck as she is enjoying her life and good work and has overcome her struggles.

Okay so where to start. I can say that if you are going through a confusing period in your life right now where your feeling as though your not serving much of a purpose or are just a little drained from stress etc, you need to get this book. I am not just saying it. I hate reading, I have never completed a book, this didn't feel like I was reading, it felt like I was reading something extremely overwhelming but in a good way, like my eyes were being opened to a whole new perspective on life. This is coming from a young girl who's so confused about so many things, quit education, and just extremely introverted so does everything alone. But now I honestly feel brand new.
Overall get this book, and just trust me on this one your life will be in a new light

After reading an online version I was moved to buy a dozen more for our team members to bring home and share with their young adult family members. Quick and enjoyable read which I like as the intended audience may actually read it. If they do, they will be treated to knowledge and insights that took me decades to master. Straight forward and easy to read. Definitely hope there is more to come from this author. More people need to be exposed to uplifting and inspirational books like this. Five stars and two enthusiastic thumbs up....

I wish this book was published when my child was in the throes of depression during middle and high school. It was a dark and frightening time for both of us. Maeve's voice is honest and wise, and the strategies she offers are accessible. Depression can be incapacitating, and this book helps teens begin to move in the direction of making positive changes. It offers so much hope and light, which are the antidotes to despair and darkness. This is an essential tool for teens and parents who are struggling with this.

While the author clearly meant well, the messages in this book were focused far too much on the author’s experiences. The consistent focus on the author’s self and disorganized expression of important ideas made the book difficult to follow and hard to relate to. Further, conversations about traveling and living in exotic places is not relatable to the average teenager or even average family. Because of the frequent co-occurance of depression and poverty, and the frequent talk of moving and traveling, I would not recommend this book to teenagers struggling with their mental health. The printed hyperlink of the author’s website didn’t improve my feelings about this book.

This quick and enjoyable read is hands down one of best advice books for teens. I finished the book in less than an hour and learned lessons that inspired me to push for change in my life. The lessons are explicitly stated and defined in a way that allows anybody to understand the meaning behind it. I highly recommend this book to anybody!

Reading this book was very comforting and it was nice to know that I am not the only one that feels a certain way about being a teenager. I found this book on Tiktok a while ago and I think I was one of the first people that ordered it. However, I never read it. I realized I really should have because even though this book could have been so much more than it is, it is still a great beginning. To know that almost everyone feels lost in the same way helped me understand my current situation and even the world better than before.
