This adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's brilliant novel Vilette is a stunning accomplishment. Samantha Lord has managed to capture the undertones of trauma and loss endured by Lucy Snowe. The psychological scars borne by the young protagonist are due to circumstances beyond her control. Cast in an environment suffused with patriarchal conventions, this tautly crafted screenplay merits consideration for production. Kudos to Ms Samantha Lord for her perspicuity coupled with ardent determination. Kathy M'Closkey, PhD Windsor, ON
