I’d once thought ending King Zephyr’s reign would be enough for me to move beyond my past, but the longer I’m within the fae realm, the more I realize nothing is as simple as I’d hoped.
My first attempt to take down the castle might have been unsuccessful, but I refuse to accept defeat. The only problem... sea creatures and unknown fae insist on getting in the way and my path back to the castle proves harder than I like.
Between magical swords, my sexy fae, and new allies I’m not sure I can trust, I’ll have to figure out my priorities and quickly. Death is in the air, and if I don’t make the right decision, it could be more than just my life on the line. It could be my heart, too.

Book three can't come soon enough!!! Heather Renee has done a brilliant job with crafting this clever plot with highly entertaining characters! You won't be forgetting this world anytime soon.
Well, I'll be damned. Heather has gone and done it again! I don't know how she keeps doing this to me...and call me crazy, but I hope it never stops. I love the way she leaves me in a mess of emotions and this book is no different! I. Just. Wow. I'm not okay.
That's me for sure
Like, I don't even really know where to start. Which is really saying something. That ending really pulled out all the emotional feels in me...Heather made it utterly perfect in all the ways...and I'm just like...
I'm honestly, at a loss for words. This book was just so incredibly written and had so many different emotions building inside me. I truly feel like I've lost it. Which really just shows how amazingly talented Heather is. Just after I finished reading...I may have ranted a little and told her I'd throw something at her lol...but because she was a friend, I'd try and be more like Augie and not let Taya get ahold of me...and, well, she didn't freak out or run away...soo if that's not friendship, I dunno what is haha. 😂
Oh my gosh seriously...what is with my brain?! Heather, I think you truly did break it, like for reals. I think I might be dead...or something. Ugh. Where are my words?! I just can't process passed that ending scene. My "brain" just needs answers.
Guys, trust me on this you NEED this book in your life sooo badly! What I loved the most about this book, was how we get to see Lucy grow and how she starts to feel again (so powerful. We know that she struggles with letting people into her heart but we slowly get to see it happen (yay!)...and personally, I think, she's already let a few into her heart, even if she hasn't realised it yet or admitted it to herself.
It wasn’t like me to let people get away, but I was evolving. Look at me go.
I also particularly loved seeing all the characters growth as well. Especially Finn and Neva. Neva has got to be one of my favourite characters, for sure. Her usually quiet self, is slowly coming out of her shell, finding her voice...and we also get to see a little bit more into her past....and I think I'm on Lucy's side when she calls her something like a closet bad-butt (albeit another word was used haha). And I definitely hope that she keeps up her little cheeky streak, for sure. I love this side of her...here's a little sneaksie peak for y'all. 😉
"Uh huh. Don't think when this is all over that I'm going to let you go back to the way things were," I said as I moved toward the opening. “Oh, I doubt anything after this will ever be the same, but I look forward to it nonetheless, Ms. Lucinda.” She winked as I glared at her for the formalities that I’d thought we’d finally moved past. Now that I was getting to know her even better, I was pretty sure the elf had purposely been proper with me just to irritate me the last couple of years. She was evil in an adorable package, and I kind of liked it.
I really loved so much about this story. The development of the plot was to perfection. The characters growth, beautiful. The relationships between everyone brought on so many emotions...and the world-building is just amazing! (Just had to add that in case people thought I was ignoring that fact lol).
A quick summary of the book. Lucinda initially had one goal. To kill the king. But when that failed they kinda had to retreat. New plans need to be made because with certain happenings, things just got a lot more complicated. Lucinda is more determined than ever to be "the monster" that Zephyr created and to use that rage against the king...but before this can be done, they need to make some new allies and fight off all the other problems that keep on popping up along the way...umm, say like weird, powerful sea creatures and unknown fae that totally have their own agenda.
We on a mission peeps. A mission to end the crazy rein of the king, who's gone and lost his mind, in my opinion. His reign is coming to an end, but I have a feeling it won't be without some sort of sacrifice. No matter what, death is coming for someone...and our guys will need to be on the top of their game, so it's not them that are dying. And with what happened to someone at the end of the book, may be a game-changer. For good or bad time will tell...but with friends and potential allies, maybe they can turn whatever bad comes their way, into something good.
I seriously, just can't wait until Zephyr gets a serving of his own medicine.
I just hope that everyone remembers that the king and bad guys will always try and get into your head...so let's hope they all have the strength to know who they are...and don't get too lost along the way.
The journey that Heather has taken me on with this book, is hella amazing! Yeah, that ending was a killer...but I would probably be disappointed if it hadn't been lol. I get it. Authors and readers probably need to be in therapy but hey, if we are happy being tormented and taken through the emotional wringer...then all is well in my mind 😂🤷🏻♀️...I think, we have a higher adrenaline desire than those who want to bungee jump and jump out of perfectly sound planes. And they think we are the weird ones lol. (I don't really know who they are but whatevs we're going with it 😂😂).
People may tell you it's not real and that you probably shouldn't get this worked up about a book, but I'm with this guy. No one can convince me otherwise haha. They all totally live in my head and it's real dammit! lols.
And yes, if you don't end up liking this book...this will definitely have to be me, jokes...or am I? 😆
I'm nearly finished...but can I just say dang Finn is amazing and sweet. I totally claim him as mine! Their relationship is just so unique, like them...and I just love how they slowly begin to see how the other thinks and works. It is truly so swoon-worthy...and then add in the way Lucinda just loves to mess with him...it's just so adorable and creates an even more satisfying reader experience.
You guys are in for a treat with this book! I seriously cannot wait for you to read it! 😀 This book is releasing in just a couple days, on the 5th December, so be sure to grab your copy of Dark Fae Freed. The second instalment only gets better and the plot has opened up to a whole new level. I cannot wait to see where Dark Fae Unrivaled will take me! Like seriously I have so many questions and need them answered like now dammit!
Be sure you have all your comfort food on hand because all I will say is, that you will definitely be in need of it, with this attention-demanding book. I know I sure did. Thank goodness chocolate and coke was on hand. Otherwise, that would've been depressing...Now, just let me lie here and try and process all the craziness that happened and hope I can recover soon lol.
Thank you, my beautiful friend, for putting up with me and my crazy messages lol. As always, it's an absolute pleasure and joy to be on your ARC team and to be able to share with the world, your amazing book babies...I'm so proud of you girl! 🖤 Also, I feel like this may be you after you read my review. 😂

Ha seems like I finally found my words lol. I do apologise if my ramble is even crazier than normal...my head is so incredibly out of it and pain is like, off the charts right now. I wish I could take strong pain killer right now. But yeah. Hopefully, I've at least made some sense lol.

Goodness, I finished this in about 3 hours; I was hooked and couldn’t put my kindle down! Just the right amount of action, romance and adventure for me; I adored it!
In this second book of the Broken Court series we see Lucinda (Lucy) break free of her darkness and come to some even harsher truths, beginning to understand what type of fae she is, as well as get some insight into the rest of the fae lands and their inhabitants.
Finn and Lucy are end game and I adore them together. Lucy’s hard shell really began to crack in this book and Heather wrote it so realistically which I think drew me most to this book in particular.
Neva is such a beautiful character serving as a ‘best friend’ I suppose and I adored hearing more from her character and her past! Little powerhouse.
I really enjoyed seeing more characters and additions to the plot being entwined, even if I have no freaking idea what it all means yet!! I need the third book to be release ASAP to see how this series will wrap up!
This time, we see Lucy face off with other enemies while struggling with the darkness inside her.
She goes to a island for a little rest.
There’s also a little adventure where she dives under the sea for the blood of a Siren in exchange for safe passage to break into the castle of the Fae king.
Lucy tries to find multiple ways to rescue her mates sister Ivy, as she and Finn (the love interest have bonded and the romantic tension only grows tighter.)
And she also brings back Ivy to life after she dies. And she still wants to kill the Fae king. Most of the book is also about trying to find him.
Took me a while to get through this book. It wasn’t that it was bad, it was just I was in a funk. After I got out of my funk I couldn’t stop. The ending made me want more
I know my last review said this but I LOVE LUCY! This second book was everything and more. Lucy really is starting to find herself in this book. She’s growing and becoming the Fae you knew she could become. Finn is just grows on me too! I loved him so much in this book and he certainly is becoming a top book boyfriend contender.
This book has it all too! Steamy scenes, an alpha broody Fae, amazing action scenes, and just all around lovable characters. Each new character that is written into this series I have to know more about...I need their stories. Neva, Roman, Ash, Ivy...I need to know about them all. That’s how I can always tell I love a series... I always want more.
If you love a sassy Fae who is finding her place and fighting to save her people even if she doesn’t think she is, this is the book for you! Don’t forget there is also the hotness of Finn to steam up your kindle.
Emotional, dark and intense!!!😍🖤🔥 Lucy just keeps growing in my list of most badass, incredible FMC ever, her resilence and will power are amazing and, even tough she doesn't know how to love, she's doing pretty well managing all the new emotions she's now feeling, both in the romantic and friendship fields #yougogirl #womenpower #youcandoit 💪👊🤗 Finn, oh my dear fae, is hotter than ever, he will surprise you with these sides of him we haven't read before and you will love him even more, but #heismine #ilickedhim 😍🔥 Neva also surprised us, she's even more badass than we thought before #girlpower #friendshipsgoals #amazingsidekick 💞 And all this happens while dealing with a lot of twist and turns we didn't see coming, our crew got a lot of action, so many emotions, and that cliffhanger 😳🤯 Need the next book NOW!!!... A MUST READ Series!!! 💖
4.4 stars! Jumping off pretty much right where the first book ended, there is a ton of action happening in this book right from the word go. There are some pretty significant happenings with Lucy, Finn, Neva, Maddox, and Ivy, and their journey is bloody and brutal. Lucy is faced with emotions she’s not used to, and we start to see different sides to everyone, which is an interesting turn of events as they work to free Ivy and kill Zephyr. We have the addition of Miso and Olida, and even by the end of the book there is still a ton of mystery surrounding them, but they play a pretty critical role in how things unfurl for the group. The story moved on at a good clip, and there were a number of lighter moments that nicely set off their dark mission. But the books ends on quite a big cliffhanger, and I am very interested to see what is going to happen from here.
Heather is magical story weaver! She really knows how to make each book in a series better and better. Raises the stakes. Keeps you on your toes. Increases the romance. Rips your heart out and then shoves it back in....Just kidding on that last one. Or am i? 😏 Either way, highly recommend. . This picks up right where book one left off. Starts with action right off the bat and keeps it coming. Constantly trying to figure out who can be trusted. I love where Finn and Lucy's relationship is going! 😁 . 👉🏼 Some Quotes Neeva was getting ballsy as the days passed. And I couldn't decide if i was proud as hell or irritated by it. . "Did that bitch just threaten me back?" . Gods, this was the f*ing worst. Why in the world do people continuously look for love? There was literally nothing appealing about caring for others so much it made you sick.
I never thought I would read that she got almost every emotion. There are a lot of firsts in this book. I knew Lucy and Finn were going to keep gravitating toward one another. However you threw in a curve ball. I am still curious about the 2 witches we meet in the book. And Most & Olida are a real curiosity because I don't know their true intentions. I am worried that the King is several steps ahead of them and by the time they figure it out it might be to late. I don't want Lucy to be trapped with the dark creepy voice for the rest of her life. There is a cliffhanger at the end so it's a good thing that Heather is quick to put books!
Lucy is less under the dark influence as she bonds with Finn, makes new friends, learns more about the Fae world while still planning on rescuing Ivy and killing the king. There is a growing curve as she battles with emotions and feelings, she’s not sure about or even if she wants them. Finn is a massive help but she still doesn’t trust what’s happening. As she is learning to trust and like others, she is very conflicted. Neva is also growing or at least showing what powers she has to the surprise of the others. There is action, romance, a great story and characters. This is a fairly easy, quick read with an interesting ending leading right into book 3.
Dark Fae Freed is well worth purchasing. Lucy and Finns' relationship has grown. Lucy has grown also but still is a kick butt - let's get it done fae. Neva has shown a side that I was shocked to learn existed in her. Finn has some convincing left to ge Lucy to believe that he accepts her for her no matter what happens. Mosi and Olida are new characters and they are interesting additions. King Zephyr must go but I wonder whom is going to end his life - he has made a few enemies. Heather has created an wonderful series so far and I am anxiously waiting the next one.
Dark Fae Freed is the second book in the Broken Court series by Heather Renee. This installment picks right up where book 1 left off. Lucy and Finn move Hell and high water to free Ivy and kill Zephyr once and for all. But, do they succeed?? I can’t tell you that. You’ll have to read and find out. What I CAN tell you is that book two is just as action packed as the first. The steam level is ratcheted up a few notches and sexy time is just a little sexier.. I can’t wait to read what Mrs. Renee has in store for us in the next book. Bring it!
I absolutely loved this second book!! It was such a good continuation and made me fall even more in love with these characters. I loved Lucy so much! I just want more of her and this story. This book had so many twists and turns and so much action. It kept me guessing and wanting to know what would happen next. I definitely didn’t see many of these twists coming. Lucy has to deal with so many things in this story as she continues her quest and I can’t wait to see what is in store for her next! This series is amazing.
Wow! This one was quite the ride! I freaking love Lucinda and Finn, but have to say I didn’t see that end coming!! The book picks up where the previous one left off and is action packed with every page. Seeing more into Lucinda’s mind and internal struggles really helped with connecting to her character even more in this installment. Absolutely love this series and can’t wait to see what happens next!!
Dark Fae Freed!! This is such an incredible series. Lucinda tried to act so hard and so much as if she doesn’t care about any one or anything but herself but her actions show how that is the furthest thing from the truth! Dark Fae Freed continues where Dark Fae Cursed Ended it is non stop action and boy does it leave you wanting more like yesterday!! Loved it!! Can’t wait til we get to read what happens next!!
I love this world that Heather has made along with Lucinda and Finn! Lucinda grows in this book and so does her relationship with Finn. This book has so many twisted I had to keep reading so I could find out what was going to happen next and what would happen because of it. I can't wait for the next book to see what is going on with Lucinda because this book ends with a lot of questions unanswered.
What can I say but that I'm obsessed. Dark Fae Freed was amazing. I really Love Lucy alot she kicks butt and take names. Finn is just intriguing I love his alphaness. I really like learning more about some characters like Neva. So much action sexyness Fae and A Revenge wanting Lucy set to take down the bad guys. The other characters Roman Ash and Ivy are interesting and I would like to know more about them also.
Dark Fae Freed is the 2nd book in an engaging new series by Author Renee. This book really needs the first in the series to be fully enjoyed. One of Author Renee's skills is creating characters and situations that are new takes on old themes. This book is no exception. Character growth, battles, romance, this book holds a nice balance of each.
The plot has strong pacing, the character interactions are enjoyable to read, and overall the story is very enjoyable.
“Dark Fae Freed” book two of the Broken Court series by Heather Renee will keep you on your toes. So much happens in this story that you won’t want to blink. As Lucy continues her quest to kill King Zephyr’ with a group of Fae she must deal with a lot; emotions, adventures detouring her off her route, and more. Author, Heather Renee does a great job continually building the characters in this story. The ending is jaw dropping and I can’t wait for book three.
One shot knock out book. Normally second book in a series is not my cup of tea. This one doesn't feel like that. I kind of like it when the main character fails at stuff, it makes for better writing. Because then the main character has something to overcome overall. Heather does an amazing job of this. I still agree read the series as a whole as with most trilogies/series, but if I picked this one up in the middle, I wouldn't be left out of the action.
If you give me a story about the Fae, I am usually all here for it. Especially when the story is so unique. This was a fabulous continuation of the first book. So much action, adventure and attitude. I laughed way to much and swooned plenty. Lucy and Finn are everything. All of the tension and hot chemistry you will ever need. I am so ready for more of the story!
All I can say is wow! Heather will keep you intrigued and waiting for more. The growth of Lucy throughout this book is amazing, and how Finn ties into that. "My problems mostly lie with not being sure I'm good enough for you". Also, watching neave blossom is amazing. Heather made my chuckle and smile through the book while reading furiously to get to the next page. Can't wait for the next one to come out!!
Five stars easily. Much more entertaining and enjoyable than book 1,which I gave a proper four stars too. I had zero problems getting into the story with book 2. Book one is a lot of setup and backstory information - book 2 is where the action really starts and Lucinda's a easier character to like as well. But truly the star of book 2 is Neva. That little brownie elf is amazeballs.
I honestly couldn’t put this book down ! This second installment is even better than the first one with lots of action too! Lucy is one bad ass fae! Lucy is still on her path to take down the king as well as getting Ivy back but she must learn to trust other people for help even if some have questionable motives. Loved seeing Finn kick ass too 😍 And lets not forget Neva our closet badass elf!
I was so excited to read this book . I’ve been waiting for it since I read the last one and I’ve gotta say I was not disappointed at all . I can’t believe they bonded 💕I was so excited about that . I’m so glad she took out that rotten creep. Want more ? Then read this fantastic book. I can’t wait for book 3
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Wow the action was non-stop from the start! If it wasn't fighting then it was Finn and Lucy going at it in many different ways. Great characters and all sorts of fae creatures joined in the fun. I can see there is still so much Lucinda needs to learn about herself and of course the king needs to die.
This was another great book/great series from Heather Renee. You can't help but love Lucinda and cheer for her. There's a lot more of Maddox in this book, as well as Neva, who is easily one of the best characters. You also see quite a bit of Finn, and a lot more romance in this part. I did enjoy the first book more, but this is still a strong follow-up. Can't wait to see how it all finishes in book 3!
This book kept me on my toes! Lucinda needs to kill Zephyr before he destroys the Fae Islands totally. Who is friend? Who is foe? A definite cliffhanger. This is the 2nd book of a 3-part series. Downloading now. Highly recommend. Great characters, interesting world. One of the better series I've read in awhile.
