Anne-Marie Meyer is a USA Today Bestselling author who lives south of the Twin Cities in MN. She spends her days with her knight in shining armor, four princes, and a baby princess.
When she's not running after her kids, she's dreaming up romantic stories. She loves to take her favorite moments in the books and movies she loves and tries to figure out a way to make them new and fresh.
Another fun book in the Fake Marriage Series. I've read them all except, Marrying a Cowboy, and have enjoyed each one.
This book had a lot of fun scenes in it as well as plenty that had Sophia and Noah confronting their pasts and the unexplained reasons behind some choices. The opening scene with Sophia and Noah, oh my heavens. I felt for Sophia! But I also was really cheering on Noah. Kari, Sophia's best friend was fabulous. I loved her little confession to Noah. You'll have to read it to find out because it had me chuckling. Now, if I were Sophia, I probably wouldn't have chuckled. I might have been a little frustrated, embarrassed, and probably several other emotions.
There's a lot of back and forth between Sophia and Noah that had me wanting to reach through the book and give them a good wake up shake. Hello, you two, just talk and tell each other. But then, I had to remember, Noah was a spy, he couldn't say what he needed to say. He had secrets to keep.
I will say that I would love to have seen Noah's reason for leaving, staying away and not opening up to Sophia developed a little bit more. More so in regards to a person from his past. I felt that there were some scenes that could have been added to a little bit more to help the storyline flow a little smoother. But overall I enjoyed it. Sophia and Noah have some serious sparks but life has not been kind to either of them. The best thing they could have happen to each other, is each other. So the whole time I kept hoping they would just speak up. Well, I'm happy to say that they did. And multiple times. But it didn't always go as you would think. Some of the times were humorous, some very swoony and others a little heartbreaking.
Grab a copy a join in reading this series if you haven't already. Lots of hours of entertainment, laughing and happy sighing for these characters!
Content: Clean. There are several kissing scenes. A couple are a little bit more passionate but nothing further than kisses. Noah sleeps in Sophia's bed with her before marriage but nothing except holding her and sleeping occurs. Some mild moments of peril. A couple mild swear words were used two times.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
I loved how Noah came back into Sophia's life. That first meeting after all those years was hilarious and I could almost feel the drop of her stomach and my heart went out for her--especially when she discovered the reason for his return and had to deal with the throwback to her past, the one she's tried to desperately forget.
I'm a big fan of fake marriage romances and this one was intriguing because these characters share a complicated past, full of regrets, fears, and disappointments. There is a definite danger lurking in the shadows and at times, the suspense and perilous events were just perfect, but at other times, they come off as incomplete, needing just a bit of something more.
One thing that I thought was spot on was the chemistry. The sparks are undeniable, even though their communications skills could use some work. But I enjoyed the way they gradually let go of the past and learned to trust, love, and talk, especially through the peak of the danger.
Content: mild+ romance (swoony kissing, some passionate, but nothing graphic); mild+ violence and dangerous moments; mild language
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
I loved the concept of the story and thought it would be intriguing. However, I felt the pacing was off with this one. Some parts were underdeveloped and others were repetitive. I didn’t feel the connection. The author has recently started writing in a different genre - YA - and I really feel that is the right direction for her. This one felt a bit rushed for me. It is a clean romance, suitable for all ages and audiences but it just didn’t gel for me. It was just okay. The last part and the end of the book were better in my opinion and there was a nice little twist at the end too. Good concept but fell a bit short for me .
Sophia and Noah were high school sweethearts and planned to marry and then Noah couldn't get away from their small town fast enough. He broke her heart and now he was back and he worked as a spy for the CIA and was out to get her father's help in capturing an evil man. Sophia's father had been a criminal for all of her life and had disappeared after her mother and brother's deaths. The suspicion was that he was the cause of their deaths. She couldn't believe Noah wanted her help to draw her father out. She was determined not to ever risk her heart with Noah again. But, here he was asking her to marry him in order to lure her father back.
As those same feelings began to surface and she felt her resolve slipping, could she risk her heart and her life. Everyone she had ever loved had left her and she was now broken, unable to trust anyone to be her safe place, except her friend, Kari. Noah was torn with wanted to show Sophia how much he loved her and trying to protect her from the hurt he was sure to inflict on her. Would there ever be a time when he could be the man she wanted and needed and be able to keep her safe?
I enjoyed the story, although it was probably a little far-fetched. It had a happy ending and with the dangerous element provided some suspense, as well. It was also a clean read with no sex or foul language.
I was given an advance copy to read and I offer my review willingly.
Marrying a Spy (A Fake Marriage Series Book 5) by Anne Marie Meyer
Love is a losing game. It thrives on emotion as it lures away one's heart. Let the games begin. Anne Marie Meyer speaks volumes with a heartfelt portrayal of broken hearts, bruised egos and a lifetime full of secrets. Sophia has lost so much in her young life. Her family, her heart and a great deal of herself, but when her past comes back to haunt her present her world may never recover. Second chances come at a high price for the girl with a shattered heart and the guy determined to protect her life. Marrying a Spy is a heartbreaking tale of love lost, hope found and betrayal revealed. It shocks, it heals, it inspires.
Marrying a Spy is a quick read (and clean romance) with interesting characters and some plot twists to keep you entertained. The main characters have history. Now Noah is a spy who needs to marry Sophia to flush out her dad who has connections to some major "bad guys." I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Admired Sophia and how she handled not only her heartache but also Noah returning. I really didn't care for him and thought his reason for leaving was pretty thin - how about just talk to her. There was some drama and suspense and another person from her past shows up. I did love the ending and one scene is pretty funny.
Sophia and Noah are reunited after 10 years and pushed into a fake relationship. I enjoyed the sparks between Noah and Sophia even though there were a few times I wanted to shake them, so they'd talk to each other. That always seems to be the case in these fake relationship stories. Just talk already! I enjoyed the premise of the book, but had hoped for a little more suspense as it was involving spies and really bad guys. There were moments that eluded to suspense, but it never got there for me. I also felt at times the book was rushed and not developed as well as I would have liked. However, it was a nice clean escape.
This second chance story is full of excitement, romance, intrigue, and mystery and until you finish the book you will not really know how the story will end. It is a page turner with all of the mystery and suspense. I really liked Sophia and how strong she was or pretended to be. She has lost her mom and brother, Benny because of her father. She had to tell her father to leave her alone and never come back. She also lost the only man she has ever loved and that was ten years ago. Noah Elliot suddenly shows up back in her life with a proposition or a charade he needs her to take part in. He is a spy for the CIA and he wants her to marry him in a fake marriage. The only problem will be if their true feelings for each other get in the way of the charade. This is a very interesting and fun story to read. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Excellent story, hard to put down. Sophia is a woman that everyone has left. Her father left, her mother and brother dies in an accident, and the boy she loved as a teenager picked up and left her too. She has made a life for herself, working as a dental office. She plans to live her life alone, that way no one can leave her again. Then one day she gets to clean the teeth of her former boyfriend who now works for the CIA. She tries to avoid him, but he is insistent and is trying to get information concerning her father who is 2nd in command to a criminal kingpin. He is under orders to fake marry her is he has to in order to get the information. He thought he could handle this case without involving his heart. He soon finds that he cannot pretend with her. Read the book and see all the trouble it causes them both when they realize they are still in love with each other. Great book!
I have enjoyed all of Anne-Marie Meyer’s books and Marrying a Spy was no exception. Sophia and Noah were high school sweethearts, until he left town. Now, he’s back asking for her help to catch her father. Can she put aside her feelings and go along with his plan or is she going to tell Noah to take a hike? If you enjoy second chance romances, you will enjoy this fast read. No spoilers, but I enjoyed how this turned out for everyone involved.
This book. It is hit and miss with this series. This is a miss. So fake, the characters are acting like adolescents. They are suppose to be professionals. Hear that noise? I am hitting my head against the wall. "I am going to hate everyone who hurts me.....
Fav quotes? “I work for the CIA. I’m a spy.” She stared at him. There was no way she’d heard him correctly. “A what?” “A spy. I work for the CIA,” he repeated.
This was a very enjoyable clean secon chance romance. There was a lot of angst from both Sophia and Noah. I loved the longing and that intense pull between them. It started pretty abruptly, but then the intensity between Sophia and Noah kicks in and I just became focused on their story, both past and possible future. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Marrying a Spy is another of Anne-Marie Meyer's Fake Marriage Series. Her books are always a clean read but possess a romantic undertone. This book had drama and intrigue along with two people who have loved each other for ten years. Thru the legal system of bring criminals to justice they are reunited and find their future together.
Fun and intrigue! This clean romance has it all. I loved it. I knew how it was going to end. It’s a romance after all. But I didn’t know how it was going to get there. The twists and turns kept me reading to find out what would happen next.
Get your sleuthing ready. Can these two fake their true feelings and still catch the bad guys? Plenty of action, suspense, second chances, and romance. I highly recommend this book. Happy reading!
The Wedding with her Ex is a fake marriage romance with both Sophia and Noah finding their way to love after years of choices separating them. It’s a fun, action story with a bit of danger.
Anne-Marie Meyer always writes clean romance and shes done it again. The premise was a little far fetched for me but then I dont know anyone in the CIA so maybe it's not. Noah disappears after graduation and Sophia is left brokenhearted. Make sure you have some tissues handy while reading this book. The emotions definately go on a roller coaster ride. It's a standalone easy read HEA. I loved the story.
Okay this was my fav book of the series because there was lots of danger and suspense that could end a life. Having Noah as a spy means he has his own bagagge and Sophia just needs to see that. Faking a marriage would be so very hard but it makes a great story. They are also very funny to laugh at how dumb they are being.😂 Anyway I really enjoyed this book!
I dont know. I didnt really enjoy this one. Everything and I mean everything(character, plot development, romance) was just lacking. Even the whole catching the bad guy was wrapped up so easily and quickly, you also didnt feel like any of them were in any real danger considering nothing dangerous really happened to any of them during the story. The bad things that Georgie did and reasons for James getting involved with them were also very vague....It also felt slow and super Repetitive with the whole, I love her/ him but I shouldn't in order to protect her/him/myself, and the imma close myself off. Soooooooo many paragraphs were stating that same thing. Disappointing read for me but others may enjoy it more.
There were some minor spelling and grammar errors but no stars were docked off for that. However, I thought i should still point it out for those who care.
