When Edith flees through a door that thrusts her back in time to ancient Scotland, her abusive husband follows, threatening her new life and those who help her, including Bran MacLeod, the handsome Scotsman who swears to protect her…

Edith Davis thought she found love with her husband Gabriel, but discovers his controlling and abusive nature too late to prevent him from hurting her. While touring the ruins of the MacLeod castle, she flees from Gabriel and finds an open door to hide in, unaware it transports her back in time. When Gabriel follows her through the door and is caught by MacLeod guards, Edith tries to figure out what’s happening and runs into Bran MacLeod, the Laird’s cousin and Tanist.

Bran MacLeod recognizes Edith is from the future immediately and promises to protect her when she relays the horror her husband has put her through. She struggles to make sense of her time travel until she meets the Laird’s wife Maria, a former NYPD detective. Once she accepts her new world, Edith can’t deny her attraction to Bran, despite her husband being held in the dungeon under the castle.

When a storm leads to a jail break and Gabriel escapes with several Irish bandits, it leaves Edith hanging in limbo, terrified of her husband’s return and unable to consummate her relationship with Bran. Their new love is put to the test when her old enemy returns and threatens everything they’ve built and their new love.

⚔️⚔️ONE WILD ROLLERCOASTER⚔️⚔️
Sensational! Rebecca unleashes this gem in stunning delight with this cleverly spun debacle, delivering all the heat and magic, keeping you riveted on a razors edge and frozen to your seat, launching this jewel to staggering heights. One action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, page flipping, block buster, hooking you from the start and reeling you in for the duration, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Add daring drama, sinister deeds, relentless abuse, perilous intrigue, vicious intents, spiraling danger and escalating suspense ensue in epic proportions, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. Anarchy runs rampant and drama is rife, baring the crazy quirks and defying bents, exposing shattered boundaries while limitations are amplified and exploited, putting our characters through their pacing, testing them in ways they could have never imagined. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing thrilling emotions and a growing bond, binding them to one another perfectly. You feel everything the characters feel as if you're part of the adventure instead of on the sidelines. The characters are complex, original and genuine with traits and qualities that add depth and diversity, transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Fantastic job Rebecca, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

She’s got to be strong. Edith though she had married the perfect man until their wedding knight and he turned into an abusive monster. On their honeymoon, her only thought is to escape him and get a divorce. While touring the ruins of a Scottish castle she tries to hide but ends up going back in time. She ends up in medieval times, but so does her husband Gabriel. Even though he has been taken prisoner at the castle, and the laird and lady of the castle promise to keep her safe, she knows Gabriel wants revenge and will kill her or take her a keep her captive the rest of her life. And now she has something else to live for. She has fallen for the cousin of the laird and she wants to end her marriage and marry Bran. But Bran is an honorable man and will not act on his feelings while she is married to Gabriel. What can she do? Under the laws of this time she is merely a possession of her husband. Does she have any rights? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

Just at the beginning, what she thought would be her happy married life had turned into a nightmare. Seizing the opportunity to escape she found herself crossing the portal into the past and the unknown. But the nightmare had followed her and getting rid of it was the dilemma. Even more when the past was giving her a tempting second chance. Interesting and dramatic the situation that Edith was experiencing. And not only because of the issue of domestic violence but because Bran was a man of deep morals and strong convictions that didn’t match with what Edith longed. Liked Bran's strength of character, protector streak and sense of the right thing. Edith was 'not dumb like a goat'. She was young, naïve, vulnerable and in need of support to overcome her fears. Action, suspense, betrayal, violence, a disturbing attraction, strong emotions, an abusing and opportunist villain and some passion.

Enjoyable

OMG!!! This is a fantastic series all of the stories will bring a smile to your face. The characters are awesome and their chemistry burns up the pages. The stories are full of emotions with some feisty heroine and their handsome partners. I can tell you that you will enjoy every book in the series, I really enjoy this author she tells a great story It's what she always does, what can i say bout these stories: but they are exceptional, funny and truly, heartbreakingly powerful!!! Each story in the series requires its own commentary that I would be writing a book myself these men do not play when it comes around to the love of their lives! They are the true example of partners, the love and the love for their families; especially their women! What a beautiful parents I really enjoy how they all are heroes (all the brothers)and they are a part of this amazing story!!! WOW I really enjoy reading this author and she did it again!

Fast paced time travel with a definite twist. I've enjoyed this author's stories before and this is no exception. Edith is a modern woman who finds true love with her husband Gabriel. He turns into an abuser and on the honeymoon, she ducks behind a door that throws her back into the past but Gabriel follows her. Edith discovers the truth about the time change and the laird's wife is from the future as well so she has a kindred soul. Gabriel is thrust into the dungeon. Edith doesn't feel safe because she is married to a monster and she knows he'll kill her if he gets the chance. Bran, the laird's Tanist is an honorable man who falls in love with Edith (and she with him) but the path of true love never runs smoothly and Gabriel escapes. The read was easy and fast paced although Edith at times feels a bit wishy washy--of course if I went back in time, I'm not sure how I would handle it.

I love time travel stories and Rebecca Preston does them so well. This is a well written, well paced, action packed romance story with a great plot and characters.

I was somewhat dismayed by Edith’s character but took into consideration she was inexperienced and young. She was faced with difficult choices to make and coming to grips with fleeing her abusive husband and finding herself transported through time.

Bran McLeod was a wonderful hero! Strong, honorable in noble. Realizing the danger that Edith was in he was bound to protect her. A good man who wanted Edith. But first things first.

Rebecca writes an awesome story you don’t want to miss. Thank you so much Rebecca for such a well written, wonderful love story!

I love these stories! This is the second in the series and it is every bit as good as the first. Edith is trying to get away from her abusive new husband and both of them end up back in time. Bran is smitten the moment he runs into Edith (literally), but she is married and he is an honorable man. It is so easy to slide into this book and become involved in their lives.....it all seems so natural. Bran is a hunk, Edith is a little all over the place and Gabriel .... well let’s just hope he gets what he deserves. It’s quick, entertaining and so good!

I would give this book more than five stars. I love time travel and blend in Lairds and you have a true winner. I loved the imagery and the characters. This is the second book in the series and I want to go back and read the first book. Edith is on her honeymoon when her husband Gabriel shows who he realy is. She tries to escape and she goes back in time. She meets people that help her out. There are things that happen that add to the story. The action and the suspense was great. Cannot to read more.

This second book in the series centres on domestic violence a topic very much in our news nowadays. I think it is well written and enjoyed the read. Another female who has travelled back in time and can’t believe it thankfully for her Maisie has been in Edith’s shoes before and knows how she is feeling. Edith finds a new family and a new love. A reasonably quick enjoyable read, look forward to the next book to see who will join the others at MacLeod castle.

A great time-travel adventure.
This highlander at least understands that Edith is from the future so that will help but there are still going to be serious challenges facing both Bran and Edith. Bran is just an awesome hero I loved this character. Edith has an up and downs in this story will keep you on your toes. It was a great read the drama was so good and the issue the author address is done so well. This book is very entertaining and I highly recommend this jewel. This book 2 in the Highlander Across Time series is a very well-written time travel romance story with wonderful characters that are very cautious. There is drama, intrigue, tension, turmoil, danger, and she looks like his lost love and that cause issues for these characters. This story has action, adventure, betrayal, twists/turns, chemistry and love with a HEA that must be worked for. These characters have wonderful personalities that are brought alive by this great Author

This is a riveting, suspenseful and romantic story. After realizing that her new husband, Gabriel, is not the man she thought he was, Edith wants to get away from him. While on their honeymoon, she tries hiding from him, and she ends up going back in time. Unfortunately, Gabriel does too. But he's taken prisoner and locked up. Edith meets Bran and is drawn to him. They fall in love, but Bran is too honorable to act on it. Frustration, fear and determination are Edith's constant companions. The story pulls you in and keeps to turning the pages until the very end.

The premise of the story was good and characters engaging. However, this author needs to hire a good editor. She still has issues with subject/verb agreement and numerous other grammatical errors. In several places there are sentences that are very confusing and then just trail off without completing the thought. In chapter 30, the author has confused character names by using Gabriel when she clearly meant Bran, as Gabriel had been killed.

I bought this whole series and certainly hope that the remaining books had seen better editing.

0.5 stars. I pretty much hated this. FMC irritated me soo much, & I didn't like the "laws" & ideas of the time period. I also hated how they'd kiss all of two or three times and she was already thinking about marriage and being in love with MMC. Especially because in the book, they had hardly talked more than a few times. I also hated how she kept throwing herself at MMC while she was still married, but yet got offended when MMC denied her and said she was being "loose".

To be fair I hardly ever like historical books, but it's not impossible for me to like them.

There was a lot to like about this book. I loved Bran, he was a man of deep convictions and intensity. I liked him better in this book than in book 1. Edith was kind of immature, I get that she was young, but she really acted that way and somewhat selfish towards Bran. The book was well paced, interesting, and held your attention from start to finish. My disconnect was with Edith.

Kiss A Highlander

When Edith was at the ruins of a castle with her abusive husband she hid through a door that lead to the catacombs. After seeing another door went through but her husband followed. They ended in dungeons and with her husband’s bad mouth he was locked up. When Edith was discovered she found they had traveled into the past. She was kept safe but her husband escaped. Later he fought with the wrong people and was killed.

I like the general story but not great execution

The main female character is extremely annoying. She’s an immature brat. The story was good on premise but it just wasn’t well written. I was ready to throw in the towel at 20% but was curious if it would get better. I skipped MANY pages along the way. It just was not good. This is the first book from this author that I have read and I will not read any more from her.

boring

I struggled to finish this book. I’ve read so many historical romance novels that I understand the customs & period quite well. Nothing in this book as far as historical behavior made sense. Many explanations were repetitive & unnecessary. And it was boring. There wasn’t any suspense or drama to keep one engaged in the story. Then after reading nothing for a good portion of the book it was suddenly done. Not something I would recommend.

I really enjoyed this book. Edith's marriage to an abusive man that managed to time travel along with her added a ton of drama, angst, suspense, intensity and emotion to this entertaining read. This book had my emotions on a roller coaster ride as the story progressed. I found Edith and Bran to be very likable and boy, was I rooting for their HEA! This is my candid, volitional review.

Exciting

While I enjoyed the novel I was disappointed that there was no reference to Hugh who played a role in Book 1 of this series. I also was surprised to find several grammatical errors and if fact some characters that were incorrectly switched. I had to read some sentences several times before I understood the intent.

A so-so story

I gave this only 3 stars because of the numerous grammatical & punctuation errors.. The storyline was 'just' okay for me. This supposed to be in Scotland, yet the author didn't use any Gaelic. Maybe if the author was a little more detail oriented, it might have made a little more believable.

I tried to give this next book in the series a chance and I was disappointed again. The writing is not good. The whole story didn’t flow and you felt there are parts missing as far as chemistry between the characters. The development of these characters is way under par.

There are other good time travel books. Don’t waste it on this one.
