Everyone wants to know how to talk to God and get answers to their prayers. Yet most people are skeptical of prayer, or convinced they’re doing it wrong.
Is there a secret to talking with God?
God is more concerned about the condition of our hearts than the words we use. He cares more about the posture of our hearts than the posture of our bodies. And what is the right heart posture? Humility.
The Secret to Prayer will take readers on a 31-day journey, examining the heart and actions of biblical characters whose prayers were answered. On the other side of the journey, readers will have a more vibrant prayer life, and a more intimate relationship with the God to whom we pray.
Loved this book by Kyle DiRoberts. I don’t remember reading anything from him before, but I really liked this one on prayer. Learned so much about prayer and how to pray, pray from your heart. I have always tried to pray that way, just pray and talk with God. And ask of Him from a humble heart. But this book shows a lot more we can learn and know to help us with our prayer life. I didn’t agree with him on a couple of things or how he brought it out, but when he would explain, it usually made sense, so didn’t disagree for long. Really good book. Thank you to #NetGalley and the publishers, B&H Publishing Group, for the opportunity to read and review #TheSecretToPrayer with my honest thoughts.
Prayer. Easier said than done, for some. So glad j picked this book up. Recently, I’ve been on a healing journey, but I could not see it succeeding without God involved. Without ME INCLUDING HIM!! How would I include Him who is in all things? I’d get intimate with him.
While this was supposed to be a 31-day guide to a more intimate relationship with God, I finished it in almost half the time, and I plan to use it as reference ALWAYS. DiRoberts said things as I thought them. Not so proper. Not so formal. Not so brave. He showed vulnerability, he showed ignorance to prayer at times (me, always), he showed how intimidating praying can be. Super easy to read, understand, and MOST IMPORTANTLY connect and relate to.
This book completely tore down that notion that God is GRAND YET DISTANT and so to reach Him we must be careful and proper and precise. Yes, be a God Fearing person, but God truly does care about the little things in my life, and He is someone I could…just TALK to. He isnt interested in pompous formal grand words if thats not how you truly express yourself. He just wants me as I am, and He wants me to feel His live through a HUMBLE HEART FELT PRAYER.
Hope that this books opens eyes and hearts more to God and blesses them and challenges them to get closer in a more infinite personal manner with God through prayer without the intimidation. Amen. 🙏🏽

In my head there’s always been this expectation around prayer that it should be beautiful and poetic and make perfect sense. But throughout this book I’ve found that is the product of a prideful heart. God doesn’t need or even expect all that. Groaning when we don’t have the words is enough, because He already knows it all. And when our words fall short, we don’t have to wait until we can weave Shakespearean prose to approach God. He wants our groaning and rambling and weeping and half-formed sentences, as long as they come from a place of humility. And this takes practice, but praise God He is patient with us.
I highly recommend this book to all considering. Such a powerful discussion and effort to refocus on what matters with prayer, a humble heart. The author is skilled in using humor and anecdotes to strengthen this read and also lighten the mood at times. I highly recommend and learned a lot as I read. The author's personality comes through, something often lacking in theological books, but truly an enjoyable read!
This book was great! I enjoyed the scripture references paired with personal stories. It is written in a conversational and approachable way, felt like I got to know the author through his writing. I appreciated that it wasn’t a “how to” guide; instead, offered lot of great ideas to reflect on.
The author gave many examples of how important it is to pray from a humble heart. Repetition is good and helps you to remember, simple but key principles
