The Gift 14 Lessons to Save Your Life [Hardcover]:
In the end, it's not what happens to us that matters most - it's what we choose to do with it. We all face suffering - sadness, loss, despair, fear, anxiety, failure. But we also have a choice; to give in and give up in the face of trauma or difficulties, or to live every moment as a gift. Celebrated therapist and Holocaust survivor, Dr Edith Eger, provides a hands-on guide that gently encourages us to change the imprisoning thoughts and destructive behaviours that may be holding us back.

The
In 1944, sixteen-year-old ballerina Edith Eger was sent to Auschwitz. Separated from her parents on arrival, she endures unimaginable experiences, including being made to dance for the infamous Josef Mengele. When the camp is finally liberated, she is pulled from a pile of bodies, barely alive. The horrors of the Holocaust didn't break Edith. In fact, they helped her learn to live again with a life-affirming strength and a truly remarkable resilience.

THE GIFT : 12 LESSONS TO SAVE YOUR LIFE BY DR EDITH EGER
"The prison is in your mind. The key is in your pocket. In the end, it's not what happens to us that matters most - it's what we choose to do with it. We all face suffering - sadness, loss, despair, fear, anxiety, failure. But we also have a choice; to give in and give up in the face of trauma or difficulties, or to live every moment as a gift."
Dr Edith Eger is a 92 year old version of one of those Duracell batteries that never stops with a boundless amount of energy. She is also a surviver of Auschwitz and an accomplished Doctor of Psychology, as well as best selling author of the remarkable book The Choice. Dr Eger has gifted us with another book. A book under 200 pages that is packed with a bucket full of wisdom, experiences, encouragement and life lessons.
This gem of a book is one that will hold a permanent place on my bookshelf. One that can be read over and over again when times are tough.
A remarkable lady who knows how to turn lemons into lemonade.
Dr Eger comes from the same home town as my grandparents. Wish I could meet her.
An incredible 5 stars.

Life-changing.

No, it's not life-changing.

But it's a good book.

Way better than some other books offering 12 lessons.

The choise

Anbefales!

I saw the book on a friend’s instagram account. It clicked immediately with my needs at that moment in time. I read it in one go. It’s truly a gift. I probably used the highlights more often than in any of the books I read so far. It’s humane, genuine, and humble.

A few of my favorite quotes:

“If you’re perfectionistic, you’re going to procrastinate, because perfect means never.”

“Power has nothing to do with brawn or domination. It means you have the strength to respond instead of react, to take charge of your life, to have total ownership of your choices.”

“If you take back your power and still want to be right, then choose to be kind, because kindness is always right.”

“We aren’t born with fear. Somewhere along the way, we learn it.”

“The most toxic, obnoxious people in our lives can be your best teachers. The next time you’re in the presence of someone who irks or offends you, soften your eyes and tell yourself, “Human, no more, no less. Human, like me. Then ask, “What are you here to teach me? “
