In Saddleback Ridge Stetsons are a way of life and not just a fashion statement. Cowboys, romance and small-town charm guaranteed.
This is the third book in the Saddle Back Ridge Series and is Drake Caldwell's story. He's the playboy son of the Falcon Falls Caldwells and the one who chose to follow his own dream. He chose to plant barley and brew beer and continue to pursue women. Fate brings him and Maggie back together when she and her aunt stay at the ranch for a few days. She was the one-night stand that he's been unable to forget. She's a paleontologist and he's a playboy - quite a combination. But the chemistry is there. A cute book with some twists and a cute story. the characters are likable and the story is a great addition to the series. I read a free advance copy via the author and voluntarily chose to write a review.
This is another fantastic addition to this series. This time it’s Drakes turn to find love and I have to say I loved it! There’s many twists and turns of which start right at the beginning when we meet Maggie and continue right through to the end of the book! There’s secrets, there’s steam, there’s family and friendship, there’s tears and laughter and dinosaurs!!! Aha now you will have to read this! It’s a fab second chance romance that you will not be able to put down!
This is a great book to sit back, relax and spend a cloudy, rainy day reading. It’s heartwarming angst, if that’s even possible. It certainly has its twists and turns. Do opposites really attract? Well, Drake and ‘Dino Girl’ are about to show you with a lot of back and forth. It will be of their own unique version of pillow talk. I call it ‘conjabbery’. I don’t want to give things away, but let’s just say that Drake pulls a couple of ‘no-no’s’ and really needs a comeuppance. He needs to count himself one very lucky guy. He’s a playboy and doesn’t seem to know how to play fair.
Maggie, or Dino Girl as she’s affectionately called, is a paleontologist. Thus, she definitely knows how to play in the dirt and dig up history. Soooo, speaking of history, Drake and Maggie have some of that with each other. Yes, it was a loooong time ago, but history has a way of repeating itself. 😍
👁 OBERSERVATIONS: … This definitely is a stand alone book. However, it’s part of an enduring, tight knit family series. If you read ‘Harvesting Hope’ (the book preceding this one), then you’ll recall Drake wanting to make and market his own custom brews. However, his dad is a die hard cattleman and absolutely no brewing will take place on his ranch. Well, in this current book, Drake finds a way to have his cake and eat it too. 😱
… Maggie, is a dinosaur expert, so to speak. She knows how to dig up old bones and how to sweep away and clean up all the dirt from digging … just ask that ol’ manipulator playboy, Drake. His little ‘other woman’ performance was not cool at all.
I received an advance copy of 'Brewing Love' and like 'Harvesting Hope', enjoyed reading this and reuniting with this family while learning more of their quirks.
Book 3 in the Saddleback Ridge series is here and you gotta read it!!! In both books 1 (Finding Forever) and 2 (Harvesting Hope), Drake is talked about as being a ladies man, a player. I always wonder how an author can turn a player around and not only make him likeable, but loveable. Well... Milan did just that! This is Drake's and Maggie's story. Calyton Caldwell, the owner of Falcon Falls Ranch has stepped back and has handed over the running of the ranch to his four sons. Each is responsible for a particular area. Drake has always had an interest in the agricultural side of ranching as well as an affection for beer. Put the two together and Drake wants to grow barley and produce his own craft beer. But sometimes, plans get disrupted... and this disruption is named Maggie Grayson. Maggie's reason for being in Colorado and specifically at Falcon Falls in Saddleback Ridge turns into the reason for what might be Drake's dream to fall apart. As the two try to figure out their professional loves, they also have to deal with their growing feeling for each other. As drawn as she is to Drake, she does not want to get involved with a player. Drake knows this but can't do anything about his past. Just as they are finding their way through this mess, another monkey wrench is thrown at them. Milan Watson always does an incredible job of writing about a place that makes you want to go and see for yurself just how beautiful it is. Her descritive language and colorful characters make for a fun, entertaining, and romantic story. Although each of the books in the Saddleback Ridge can be read as a stand alone, I would really recommend reading all of them in the order in which they are written.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a wonderful story for Drake. I adored Maggie Grayson. Maggie comes to town to work at Dino Ridge. She is a paleontologist. She is looking forward to working in the field at Dino Ridge and staying with her "Aunt" Betty. Unfortunately when Betty picks her up at the airport, Betty informs her that her house has a termite infestation. They will be staying with Clayton Caldwell, Betty's beau, at Falcon Falls. Upon arriving at the ranch, Maggie discovers that her one-night stand from last month is one of the sons! Drake Caldwell is the proverbial "lady's man". He doesn't do relationships. In fact, Maggie learns that Drake's reputation is that he has a different woman every week.
Reading about these two, I laughed at the lengths they went to. I especially loved Drake involving Logan's friend, Bobby to have dinner with when Maggie goes out with a colleague! This is written in a dual POV format. In fact, there is a portion that is written with just Clayton and Betty. That was wonderful. It gives a great insight into their dynamics.
The author did a wonderful job in really glossing over the sexy scenes. There is some kissing but nothing overly descriptive in details. It is more of a fade to the next scene.
While this is a part of a series and the Caldwells make appearances, you do not have to read the prior books to fully understand this book. I would though highly recommend them as they are wonderful books that I feel shouldn't be missed.
This is the third story in the Saddleback Ridge series. In the previous books, Drake’s brothers have found love and happiness, but he continued his playboy ways. Settling down is the furthest thing from his mind at this point in his life. The most important thing in his life right now is to make his dream of a brewery on his portion of the ranch come to fruition. That all changes when a woman from his past, Maggie, reappears in his life. Her presence on the ranch is not only unexpected, but also fateful. A discovery made in the fields where barley is to be planted just happens to be of great interest to Maggie and her colleagues. Her presence also gives the playboy a chance to win the heart of the woman he hasn’t been able to forget. His reputation as a player and a secret from her past serve to put a giant roadblock in his plans. Will they get their chance to fulfill their dreams and claim a happily ever after for themselves?
The characters are fascinating and believable, and this story offers surprising twists and turns that make this book very enjoyable to read. While this story features a romance, it also offers more insight into the family dynamics and into the lives of the family members featured in the previous books. It is always great to get further glimpses into their lives. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A good, shorter romance with a smart heroine who has an unusual profession and the playboy third son on the Falcon Falls ranch. Turns out a brief, East Coast hook-up won't let go🎣 and Drake has to negotiate his feelings while continuing to wage his campaign to bring a craft beer operation into the ranch's business in the face of patriarch Clayton's disapproval.
Maggie, or dino girl as the folks around Saddleback Ridge affectionately christen her, is at a possible turning point in her career and Drake complicates things in her well-ordered academic life. But the attraction won't let up and the passion, though closed-door, makes life in rural Colorado pretty attractive. There's a shocker to disrupt things as Maggie throws Drake a curve that no one sees coming late in the book😮.
I enjoyed it. Author Milan Watson created a community of realistic characters in a great setting. Yes, there's some serendipity involved in the romance but the plot is based in a believable world of hard-working, genuine people.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Fate or destiny? What do you call it when you are thrown back together with the one who got away? Unfortunately, her dream come true may mean the end to his. Can they move past her secret past and his all too public history? Maggie and Drake have all the chemistry (yes, it gets steamy in a sensual but not overly graphic way) and a fun banter filled relationship. They also have some serious relationship hurdles and one doozie of a secret to deal with.
Drake is the easy going middle kid who kinda got the short end of the stick when everything was divvied up and it is nice to see him come into his own and the way his brothers support his dreams and bring Clayton around. I liked getting another peek into Betty and Clayton's relationship as well. Another great addition to this series.
This is the third book in the Saddleback Ridge series but can be read as a standalone. As they take place in the same town it is a richer experience reading them in order. It is nice getting to know more of the people around town. A couple scene stealing characters in this book seem like they would make great main characters in their own books!
The Saddleback Ridge series is a great series about Clayton Caldwell and his four sons. This book focused on Drake, a sexy cowboy and a lady's man who wants to brew his own craft beer if his father will ever go for the idea.
I liked how fate played a big part in bringing Drake and Maggie together after they had spent one memorable night together in the Hamptons. It was fun finding out that Maggie was Betty's cousin and that she would be spending six weeks at the Caldwell ranch with Betty and all of the Caldwell men.
The love that was brewing was unexpected but as their past is revealed who knows what would happen. Maggie and Drake were definitely opposites. I liked how Drake's character changed and made him do some crazy things when he got jealous. It was quite entertaining. Maggie was a paleontologist and taught at Harvard. Looks like she will be digging up more than just dinosaur bones in this book! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Drake is not a one-woman guy and loves playing the field. He is happy with his crops, his home-brewed beer, and a new woman every week to entertain him. Until he met Maggie. He should not be attracted to her; she is the opposite from what he is looking for, serious, does not do flings, and lives in the city. But the chemistry between them is off the charts, and they don’t seem to be able to avoid falling for each other… This story was entertaining, with unexpected twists to keep us glued to the book until the end. The characters were fascinating in their way to cope with the notion of falling in love. Especially since Drake did not believe in it ☺! The book lost a star due to insufficient proofreading. Some missing commas changed the meaning of sentences several times, which was quite annoying. However, the stories of this author are always so diverting that I keep reading her books ☺.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
What happens when a one night fling, may not be just a one night fling? Maggie and Drake spend a night together at a party they both attended in the Hamptons and neither thought that they would see each other again. Then Maggie gets a job at a dinosaur museum in the small town of Saddleback Ridge where her Aunt Betty is and goes to live with her for six weeks. Unfortunately, Aunt Betty's house has termites and needs to be fumigated, so Betty informs Maggie that they will be staying at her boyfriend's ranch with he and his four adult sons. That night at supper, Maggie discovers that one of the sons is, Drake her one night fling. Maggie and Drake soon discover that the sparks are still there, but they are going to have some obstacles to work through before they can have their happy ending and believe me some of those obstacles are definitely doozies.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Milan Watson, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this interesting love story of Drake and Maggie. He is the country boy and she is the city girl but together they make sweet music. What they thought was a one night summer fling led them to the real thing. I liked all the surprises that were included to keep the story interesting like what was thought to be a large rock in a field that Drake was plowing to plant barley turned out to be dinosaur bones. There were other surprises that almost ended their relationship, but love won. I highly recommend this wonderful second chance romance with a HEA ending.
Second Chance Romance due to a Dinosaur! Drake is a ladies man, Maggie knew that when she had a one-night stand with him. No last names or phone numbers were exchanged and she was okay with that, even though she cannot forget the night they shared. When she takes a 6 week contract away from her Harvard teaching job she doesn’t expect to end up living on the ranch belonging to his family. Sparks still fly between them but can Maggie risk her heart on a playboy? Great story (loved the dinosaur) and a recommended read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Drake has been given a parcel of land, by his father, to plant what he wants. He's trying to brew beer so wants to plant barley, but his father is really against it. Maggie, Betty's niece, is staying at the ranch while Betty's house is fumigated. Drake and Maggie met a bit ago and had an amazing one night stand, both still thinking about each other. Drake starts to plough his field and find a very large stone. Maggie is a paleontologist, then the fun begins. Can they overcome their differences.
The Caldwell family is getting closer together. Drake is pleasantly surprised when Maggie shows up with Betty at the ranch. She is the girl he hasn’t been able to forget since summer. Maggie doesn’t believe that they have anything in common and that there is anything more than the one night they shared before. Drake is determined that he will win her over and decides to go full court to woo her. With the surprises that pop up on the ranch they have to work together and that allows them to see how much they love each other.
In this book Drake, the third of the Clayton's sons, finds his "everlasting love" with Maggie. The relationship between Maggie and Drake is fraught with tension and Maggie's secret. I must admit I was totally wrong with regards to Maggie's secret. Well done Mrs Wilson. Maggie causes Drake to seriously rethink the way he treats women and life. What I thoroughly enjoyed in this book was the gentle waxing of love between Clayton and Betty. Theirs is a real sweet love. Looking forward to see how young Logan finds his wife.
Great addition to the series! The author brings strong characters in Drake and Maggie and takes them on an unexpected journey in this second chance romance. It's an emotional read with twists and turns ,secrets , love and laughter. The scenes are painted in vivid detail and the story moves quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Maggie and Drake had a one night stand in the Hamptons. Parted ways the next day never to see each other again. Her new job took her to Saddleback Ridge where Drake lived. She was staying at his ranch. Drake wanted to brew craft beer since it was his life long dream. Drake became a master at brewing beer but beer was not the only thing brewing on the ranch. Brewing Love by Milan Watson has many ups and downs, twists and turns I never expected. It is a winner and a great addition to the series.
This book is well written about two peoplr who are drawb together. It is now Drakes turn for her to find love. It is so well written, it will pull you through. There are so many twists and turns from the start. We have Maggie, now we have friendship, family, and you are going to laugh and cry. The funny this is you have dinosaurs. They each have their own lives but are pulled toward each other. I recommend this book.
This was a great book on the lives of the Caldwell family. Drake a young man whose dream was to open a craft brewery on Falcon Crest land. Maggie comes to town to work at the Dino project on uncover fossils and whatever else they can find. The two become one and decide to work on Falcon Crest land. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
We return to Saddleback Ridge and Falcon Falls with Drake and Maggie’s story. Brewing craft beer and uncovering a dinosaur fossil are the background for their love story. Loved the story and all the characters both new ones and old friends. Don’t miss this one. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
This is Drakes book and it was a wonderful story. He can’t forget Maggie from last summer and when she comes back he’s determined to win her over.He has some convincing to do but there are secrets and laughs to share. It was a great story as they work to get their HEA! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Love and family. The Caldwell brothers may be grown up but family dinner everyday is important. Drake is a player but one meeting in the Hamptons changes his life. Maggie comes to town for a job and to visit Becky. Unbeknownst to Maggie her Hampton fling lives at the ranch. A touching story of endless love and family!
I enjoyed reading this book! Two people who are pulled toward each other, each have other lives and yet are still pulled by something to each other! I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance!
What I liked? Maggie is a paleontologist. She’s at Saddleback Ridge to dig up bones. Not to see Drake, a player who’s pushing his beer. They already hooked up. Er, met.
Drake was ok, he uses another girl to make Maggie jealous (not cool). Just not into another player/beer guy.
Two people have a one night affair that leaves them both wanting more but with no way of getting it. Fate steps in and they come together again. This occurrence leads to dreams coming true and forever love bonds forming.
I am enjoying the Saddleback Ridge series so much. From page to page there is so much happening and just when you think there's a clear run to home plate, there's a curve ball
I received an advance copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
Love the story of Drake and Maggie. Enough drama to keep me interested to see what would happen next. I have enjoyed the first three books in this series but found this one heartwarming and the couple very endearing. Would definitely recommend to others. Very sweet story.
