Betraying the vampire king has deadly consequences. But what if you crave the punishment?

Charlotte...

Get in, get the intel, get out. And above all, don’t get noticed.

As a master thief, Charley D’Amico lived by those rules... until she screwed up and fell in love with her mark—a sexy, commanding vampire king whose cravings are as dark as his secrets.

She should be running for her life.

Instead, she’s running into his arms. Into his bed. Into his punishing, demanding mouth.

Bad idea? Definitely. But if anyone can help Charley take down her vicious uncle and keep her sister out of danger, it’s Dorian Redthorne...

Assuming he doesn’t kill her first.

Dorian...

For vampire king Dorian Redthorne, love and betrayal have always gone hand in hand.

Charlotte D’Amico is no different. Her dark, sinful seduction was all a lie.

Dorian should kill her. Tear the bloody heart from her chest.

But when she comes to him for help destroying the man who controls her life—a man working for House Redthorne's mortal enemies—there’s no way he’ll turn her down.

No way he’ll let her back into his bed, either.

How can he? He’s the immortal vampire king, and she’s a devious little traitor.

And traitors must be punished.

All. Night. Long.

Sarah Piper is a witchy, Tarot-card-slinging paranormal romance and urban fantasy author. Through her signature brew of dark magic, heart-pounding suspense, and steamy romance, Sarah promises a sexy, supernatural escape into a world where the magic is real, the monsters are sinfully hot, and the witches always get their magically-ever-afters.

Readers have dubbed her work “super sexy,” “imaginative and original,” “off-the-walls good,” and “delightfully wicked in the best ways,” a quote Sarah hopes will appear on her tombstone.

Originally from New York, Sarah now makes her home in northern Colorado with her husband (though that changes frequently) (the location, not the husband), where she spends her days sleeping like a vampire and her nights writing books, casting spells, gazing at the moon, playing with her ever-expanding collection of Tarot cards, binge-watching Supernatural (Team Dean!), and obsessing over the best way to brew a cup of tea.

A slightly less exciting follow-up, but a good development to the series

I always get caught up in books like this, I don't know if it's because in my head the storyline should be different but when book 1 ends on a cliffhanger, I've got a pretty good idea where it's going to go next, and then end up being disappointed when it doesn't.

But it's a good development. The cliffhanger at the end of book one made a big deal of the whole thing and when I'm reading book two it didn't really impact the story and the characters that much, which made me slightly confused. I think the storyline should have been more affected in a way.

The actual story for book two was good. We've got most of the secrets out now and they are finally working together to bring down Charlie's asshole uncle. Ended on another cliffhanger, and not sure how I feel about this one because it felt very unrealistic, not built up very well almost like the author just decided to insert it in there last moment. But I will be reading book 3 because I love the characters and the romance is amazing.

Sarah has just blown me away! This book just doubled the stakes doubled the angst and tripled the smut!!!! I love Dorian and Charley so much! Their relationship is so great. But the world building in this was so enjoyable. Sarah has really planned out the progression of the series. She keeps you on your toes the entire time!!!

I highly recommend this series!!!

So sad… I loved the first book. But this was repetitive, felt unfortunately drawn out and I’m no fan of the „ah the other person lied to me in one regard now I can’t trust anything else they ever said and showed me so I have to stay away“ paired with the „I can’t stay away, the other person has bewitched me“.
I even found myself skipping the smut?! I never do that. I just couldn’t stand the inner monologue.
So so sorry, others might love it!
But I felt like I was promised a Damon in book one, only for him to reveal himself as a Stefan :(

The writing isn’t bad. The plot isn’t innovative but it was ultimately the relationship that wanted to further and stall the plot but ended up feeling artificial and forced into a timeline to make it work that took away from the rating for me. I can still see this book being loved and enjoyed. Just not by me.

4.5

I immediately started this after the ending of the first book. And I was not disappointed. This book was full of plot, adventure, and still kept the aspects of the first book that I loved so much. I loved learning more about the world and about Dorian's family. I also loved the ending. Although how it started wasn't the most believable, it was still fun nonetheless and it made it gripping to read the next book right after. I cannot wait to see more of Dorian and Charley in the Dark Obsession.

In the second book of this series, things go from bad to worse as Charley finds herself in a bind that doesn't seem to have a way out. Her awful Uncle has decided that Charley is going to leverage her relationship with Dorian to give her a way in to what will be the complete theft of Dorian's estate. Dorian and Charley have been going back and forth with their feelings and things come to a head when Dorian discovers what Charley is actually up to. Her betrayal cuts him completely and we find out that he has been betrayed in the past....with disastrous results. Charley is sorry, but her behavior still both baffles me and infuriates me. She goes from being strong with Dorian, to a complete doormat with Uncle Rudy. She also has moments where I question her intelligence...I mean, come on...Dorian is willing to continue to protect her when things start getting dicey yet she the decides that she NEEDS to be in the city so she up and leaves the compound to go back to the city. Seriously?

We also get to meet Cole in this book and I can now add him to the list of Dorians people that I like - there is Aidan, and now Cole. Dorian's House is having troubles of their own as there is discontent among the Vampire Houses. He finds out that his brother Malcolm just may be going behind his back to increase the amount of vampire's who will challenge Dorian's rule.

Dorian finds himself with problems all around as the merger that was almost complete with the Mage's company seems to be falling through, and the Witch that the family needs to bond to their family is not as certain as it was before. There is a certain vampire that is challenging the King (Duchanes) and he is suddenly involved in all kinds of plots and ploys revolving around destroying Dorian and his family.

Things rise to crazy levels and the very last chapter of the book gives one doozy of a cliffhanger. This is definitely NOT a stand alone and this trilogy must be read in order to completely understand what is going on. Speaking of which, if I want to find out what happens, I better get to book 3.

Time to take a breath so I can listen to the conclusion of all the drama that has now reached its climax. Gotta go....

Boring and Convoluted.
So many stories woven inside, none of which seem to make sense. "He lives and dies by the fickle whims of his cock"
I absolutely love a good spicy novel but these two could not only keep their hands off of each other but they seemed to have a penchant for exhibitionism. Also Dorian's whiplash. After he reunited with her after learning her secret deception, they ended up together, all the while saying it wouldn't happen again. Why did it happen that time? Then he vascilated between animalistic need and humanly distaste of her. Then it keeps happening. I mean, is this a love connection, or can he, and she, for that matter, just not separate their loins from the conversation. It took so long for her to tell him her secret. She could have gotten him on her side long before. It would have been a great storyline if half the book was about an alliance verses them sexing each other every 5 min, and we were no closer to the truth. I feel like the last book is about to be a rush job because, yes, I am going to see this through. I also didn't like Dorian's background. The blaming of him for falling in love with a vampire that deceived him is kind of ridiculous when it was their conniving father that sold them all out, even their mother and young siblings. To make the mothers dying words be basically your brothee is weakbit he was the favorite son. To make him the weak one in that seemed stupid. Their father set that up. Then the story of Adele and how he became the Crimson Devil...well that was ok I guess but the fact that his family all except Aiden abandoned him because "here we go again letting his soft heart rule him". I just didn't like the picture painted of Dorian. He was unnecessarily painted weak by love. Now, his relationship with Charlotte appeared totally driven by lust, not love. That's all. I felt no connection between them except the sex. Even their burgeoning love story was a stretch at best. I just feel like we spent too much time having sex. Again, I'm all for the spice, but a clearly contrived storyline about a "weak" would be shamed King is not my favorite.
The first story I felt was better. Some background build-up is good. This nope. It was boring.
I listened to the audio and the male narrator sounded ok in the first book but maybe because the storyline was bad he spynded like a bad actor and his voices kept changing for the female main character...heck made her sound stupid. She was, but I guess he could only work with what he had to work with.
This was not my favorite. It's just bad.

The story of Dorian and Charlotte continues in this second book of the series. Dorian is fuming, and hurting, from his discovery of Charlotte’s betrayal. And here he is, in love with her, but he never wants to see her again. Charlotte feels the same about him, but saying “I’m sorry” just doesn’t seem like enough. If only he’d stop making her feel things. Delicious things, naughty things.

Ok, I liked this book much better than the first book. It would have gotten 4 stars, except for an insipid MFC. How can a character be intelligent, feisty, wishy washy and a pushover all at the same time? Charlotte manages. Just when I get to a point where I’m beginning to like her, she gets TSTL again. Like when she and Sasha leave Dorian’s manor outside the city. He brought her there to keep her safe from Rudy. But after 1 weekend, she leaves because it must be ok by now. Seriously? And you’re shocked, SHOCKED when Sasha gets kidnapped by Rudy. My only question is, what took so long?

What did keep my interest was the chemistry between Dorian and Charlotte. Sizzling. While I found myself, on numerous occasions, wondering why he keeps sticking around, it’s clear there’s a lot of emotion between these two. It’s pretty messy but they seem to keep coming out of it with even more feelings between them. The storyline is very engaging, I just wish the execution was a bit better. I will say that even though Dorian is the main guy here, I’m finding Cole and Aiden have my FULL attention and I’d love a book for each of them. And finally, we got the back story of how Dorian and his brothers were turned and what happened to put him in blood lust 50 years ago that wreaked so much havoc on NYC. I was heartened with Charlotte’s response, I totally expected her to go batshit crazy.

Books #1 and #2 both end on a cliff hanger, and are not stand alone. At least I don’t think they are. I’m still not sure I would recommend this series when there’s so many better books out there. But I admit that this book was much better than the first one.

*Audiobook Review*

This is the second book in the series of Vampire Royals of New York by Sarah Piper and picks up pretty much were Dark Deception ended. Dorian feels betrayed by Charley and is running to clear his head and feelings for Charley. He ends up reuniting with an old friend, Cole, a shifter!

Dorian is trying to contain his feelings for Charlotte due to her betrayal but cannot shake the constant pull towards her. There are more secrets discovered and due to those Dorian is helping Charley along with Aidan and Cole to try and discover what really happened to her father and how her uncle is involved. Together there are going on a demon hunt.

Phew! This book is even steamier than the first one although there are some angsty parts as well with a good dose of suspense. I enjoyed how this story and its characters develop as well as the dialogues, there are certainly some scenes that made me chuckle. It's written in a way that the voice actors had a lot to play with.

I loved Charley´s sass and Dorian´s dominance. The scenes of him getting mad and angry are certainly sexy.

Also, still loving the Aiden/Dorian bromance – still hoping Aiden gets his own story 😉

The last third of this story had me on edge and we are treated to a twist at the end, which leads to another cliff-hanger! Book 3 certainly cannot come quick enough!

I listened to the audiobook version and I was just captivated.

Mackenzie Cartwright and Shane East are bringing the hotness to sizzle with their seductively delicious performances!

Mackenzie is performing the sass & sexiness right out of Charley´s character.
Shane getting angry is something else. It even had me startled in one scene as I did not see that coming. Wow, so good!

The way they imitated all these characters, with this intense & sexy performances left me spellbound.

Dark Seduction is Book 2 in the Vampire Royals of New Your - Dorian Series by Sarah Piper
Performed by Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright #Shakenzie

Dorian Redthorne and Charley (Charlotte) D-Amico's heart racing and pulse-pounding story features:

💰Billionaire 🇬🇧British Vampire 🤴King hero
🖼 Sassy 🇺🇸 Art Theif heroine
💓 Insta ❤️ 🔥🌶
🗽New York Supernatural setting
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rating

Dark Seduction picks up right after Doran discovers his 'little prowler's" treachery, or at least how it appears.

Dorian feels betrayed but at the same time, he cannot deny his feeling for his little prowler.
He tries to shake it off with a a run and bumps into his old Shifter mate Cole who he discovers has important intel that could further uncover the truth behind his father's mysterious death.

As much as Dorian tries to resist Charley, it's no use: they are too strong and let me just say this is full-steam ahead in this book, along with the emotion, angst - all I can say: Chapter 25 is 🔥🔥🔥 AF!!

The suspense and drama also picks up with some more twists and turns, not least of all the humour - especially between Dorian and Aidan.

I’m not exaggerating when I say the Redthorne Vampire’s are the hottest, and Shane's portrayal of the broody, dominant, Alpha Vampire King is outstanding! #VampireShane is my favourite Supernatural - he is perfection: Sarah Piper is such an amazing writing genius- it's like she wrote Dorian just for Shane.

Equally Mackenzie is perfect as the sassy and sexy Charley, not to mention her male voice and British accent is outstanding in this series, she is a Queen and I adore her.

Sarah has done it again ! This is an outstanding sequel and ends in a cliff-hanger you don't see coming. Exceptional story, by an amazing author and outstanding performances by talented VO actors: 5 thousand stars!

DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER
This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants and swearing.

Dorian Redthorne is a centuries old vampire who recently became the most powerful of all the supernatural sects. The new vampire king is being tested at every turn. His brothers are at odds on how their family should band together. There is a noble family gaining backing by others to overthrow them. Then there is Charlotte “Charley” D’Amico. Dorian fell fast and hard for the human woman. They survived a demon attack, but were torn apart when he learns of her transgressions against him and his family’s estate. Now with a hardened heart, he must figure out a way for them all to survive what’s to come.

“I choose option two.”

After the cliffhanger ending in book #1, I could not wait to get my hands on the next installment. Secrets always have a way of unfolding when they cause the most impact. It was a little maddening seeing how the hero is a vampire with his own secrets and did not hear the heroine out.. Walking away with a conversation is one of my peeves. I was telling myself at the beginning of the book to sit tight. Of course there was ANOTHER cliffhanger and I have no idea what it means...

Cliffhanger – yes (book #2 in series)

This book was mildly interesting, but it could have been a lot better. The writing was bland and the plot only barely engaging. The romance was hot and spicy and was really the best part of the book. Everything surrounding the romance, with the vampires and demons, and the feuds between the paranormal creatures, was not interesting. Even the main character Dorian was flat. He also seemed contrived as though he were playing a role rather than being a character in the story. Additionally he had strange mood fluctuations so I wasn’t ever quite sure if he was playing the role of strong king or if he was attempting to be an attractive (weak) man. The writing was lackluster at best. And often told rather than showed us what was happening. This made the author come off as new and unoriginal. Ultimately, I got 80% of the way through the book and DNF. There was just nothing keeping the story going. The romance had a happily ever after, and the plot was awful, so the story was really over for me. The book was not worth finishing just to see the plot come together. I wouldn’t recommend this book to a friend. And believe that there are simply better books out there to read. Don’t waste your time with this one.

This picks up right where Dark Deception ends. Charley is falling for Dorian, and he's falling for her. Both in a twisted game of deception, lies, getting to know one another. Charley is pressed by her uncle Rudy to continue the plans for the heist of Dorian's home. While she's trying to keep Rudy at bay, assuring him the plans are moving forward, she can't resist spending time with Dorian the vampire king.

Dorian finds himself wanting to spend more and more time with Charley, even though he doesn't totally trust her. And when he finds out her ulterior motives for him, he's beyond pissed...and also hurt. He doesn't quite understand what's going on between him and Charley, but he's finding himself intrigued by her. But, being the vampire king means there's always something going on. So, in addition to courting Charley, he's dealing with other vampires, demons, wolves, shifters, etc.

There are twists at the end, that made me immediately buy the last audiobook in this trilogy. Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright are so good narrating this series. They bring all the feels with this series. Shane has amazing range with this character, and I'm loving all the drama.

Book 2 of the vampire Royals by Sarah Piper. This book is a continuation of the first one you find that Sarah Piper really likes to cliffhanger her book which I will admit I absolutely hate but because she writes her books so well I can’t find myself to dislike it enough to not carry on reading.
Stories are fantastic I really love how there is different faction for each group of supernatural like vampire, werewolf and Demon etc.
Theses books do have a big family feel and as the Redthorne’s have a lot of brothers but some are trying to defy the King and take over.
The audiobook book is amazing Shane East does a perfect voice for the Redthorne family but somehow makes them all sound slightly different and amazing.
Mackenzie Cartwright is fantastic as well and surprisingly does a great job doing the English guy accent for when she does her chapters.
I do wish it was narrated as duel so eash reads there only parts like Shane East doing the guys parts and Mackenzie Cartwright doing ladies parts.
Sarah Piper is a instant buy for me especially audiobooks because she has the best narrators

Actual rating: 3.5 stars.

Mostly skimmed, but still a decent read. And starts to feel vaguely less instalove-y than Dark Deception, maybe by simple virtue of the fact that we're now a bit farther into Dorian and Charley's relationship (though the romance still feels quite dramatic). Well, actually, I take that back. Not the dramatic part--it definitely still feels a bit melodramatic to me--but the reasoning behind why it felt less instalove-y. I think it's because Sarah Piper finally digs into the various secrets Charley was keeping and some of the past trauma and, although this book still leans heavily on sex scenes, there's finally more of an emotional connection here, too.

Because of this, I think I do like this vaguely more than the first, but I'm not sure. I do think these books probably very successfully fill the steamy paranormal romance niche for readers who favor this genre.

This book is very good. I still really enjoyed the plot line and the execution of the story. Charlotte and Dorian are still amazing. There were no errors or anything like that, that took away from the reading experience. I knock .5 stars off because I was a tad bit frustrated at the ***v minor spoilers**** MC being a bit of a hypocrite. We all know what happened at the ending of the first book, that’s a huge portion of the conflict in this book and he takes it out on her hard. Yet when some of his dirty laundry gets aired, she gracefully accepts and understands it and they move on. Just a minor annoyance to me but I’m really looking forward to book 3 and how they solve the problem that arose at the end of book 2!! Also I’m so glad they found there way back to each other

Overall I enjoyed this book more than book one. The plot was far more interesting, the characters felt more developed, and I was more invested overall. I enjoyed the separation between Dorian and Charlotte because a) it made sense and needed to happen, but also b) because to me it just makes the romance even stronger when they do get back together. It's odd though because I feel like we're still waiting for the climax, which I guess comes in the third book, but these two books so far almost have felt like just the first 2/3s of a whole book. I suppose what I'm saying is this didn't feel like a whole book itself, but I'm sure it all comes together in the final book. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd rather have three full-fledged stories that come together to a massive climax rather than just three stories leading to one final climax.

It's getting so good!

I am absolutely obsessed with the continuing story between Charley and Dorian. I am blown away with all the lies and seduction that keep going on between these two. Charley will do anything to keep her sister Sasha safe and away from her uncle Rudy.

When word comes out that Rudy and his crew are out to steal everything out from Dorian and his family, Charley tells him of her uncle's plans. Dorian can't believe he ever fell for a woman who not only lied to him but wound her way into his heart.

Truths come out and they are both forced to face their past.

So good! I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happens next. Bring on book 3. Enjoy!

The second installment in the Vampire Royals of New York doesn't have the same forward momentum with respect to the plot that the opening book did. However, we do get an engaging new character, and more information about others, including more backstory about our leads: Charley and Dorian. Perhaps more compelling than the character arcs is the revelation of more of the web of loyalties and betrayals, ambitions and honor, secrets and surprises, that envelops the supernatural world. I think I'm equally excited to see the resolution of the supernatural politics and Charley and Dorian's relationship.

Loved more than the first book. It captured my attention more. The chemistry between these two is still sizzling hot but between her betrayal and deception and his brother's challenge for authority there's just too much in the way of their romance. Definitely got answers for alot of the questions i had in the first book.
This one was definitely more packed with action. I loved how when push came to shove Gabriel was there for his brother unlike the other 1. Looking forward to see how things are gonna progress in the next book. And if this once broken family can outcome all the brutal past and unite again.

Dark Seduction is a sizzling vampire romance filled with betrayal, desire, and dangerous alliances. Charlotte D’Amico is a master thief who should have never fallen for her mark—vampire king Dorian Redthorne. After betraying him, she returns not to beg for mercy, but to seek his help against a greater evil. Dorian should kill her, but his need for revenge turns into a craving he can’t resist. With enemies closing in and their chemistry igniting once again, Charlotte and Dorian must decide if they can trust each other—or destroy one another first. Perfect for fans of dark, passionate, and suspenseful paranormal romance.

The more I dive into the lives of Charlotte and Dorian, the more I need to know.

Just when I think I know how the story is going to play out, something new happens.

I don't really like the over-exaggerated love angst, it was fine in the first book and excusable in the first third of this book, but the push and pull all the way through got a little tiring. Also I think that their manic moments of sex are a little overdone, but ok, we get it, they're hot for one another.

But having said that, I also don't want to stop until I see how this all plays out. The Intrigue of who is colluding and scheming with whom is captivating. So onto book three now to see where we end up.

Second book makes the series

This is a first for me reading from this author. The first book in this series was a little slow for both the story and getting to know the characters. Then the last few chapters got me hooked. This book dark seduction was great a much better read, the story line is great and the author takes you on a journey with the characters. The last book comes out in a few days and I'm looking forward to seeing how Dorian and Charlotte handle the new twists and development in their crazy rollercoaster life. Recommended
