It Might Have Been A Vampire

A man becomes an unwitting Peeping Tom when his beautiful neighbour teases him through her living room window every time he puts his baby daughter to bed. The man did not know he had a taste for voyeurism beforehand, and as time passes, his obsession for the woman next-door grows until he is tempted to take it even further. However, while they are playing their voyeuristic games right under their partner's noses, something watching something the man can only see through the corners of his eyes. Something that appears in dark corners and behind the curtains at night when he is snuggled in bed with his wife. What it is, he does not know, though the answers he is looking for are forthcoming in ways that will jeopardise his marriage and the safety of his family.

It might have been a vampire... who knows?

A nice quick little read. A peeping tom, married with a new born baby... finally gets his wish and an affair sets in with the neighbor he's been watching every night. But then things don't go quite as planned and his life is uprooted in one night. Someone is in the shadows watching him and toys with his mind until the grand finale. Then his life is never the same.

This is a fast-paced short story/novella that is definitely for adult readers only. It begins as a voyeuristic journey of a new father, watching the neighbor through the window. What starts off as just watching quickly progresses into more, and then in a horrifying series of twists, plants itself firmly into the horror genre. The writing is solid, and descriptive, and we get into the mindset of the man as he, as well as the reader, makes some horrifying discoveries. The author is adept at getting the reader into the mind of his character, making for a very engaging read.
