Oh No'ssss... our special Mary Sue Nora, the most special-est special girl in Special Town, is turning dark!! What will happen? Please tell me there will be a magical fix-all that shows up at exactly the right time!!

So, yeah. She's turning dark. And, frankly, I was on Team Dark. She was much more interesting as a cold, heartless killer than she is as a messed-up Damsel in Distress with intimacy issues. Oh, but don't worry, because as we all know, according to books, there is also a magic out there that will cure all intimacy issues with a single thrust.
That's right, it's the magic penis.
Girls, penises are so magical that they will make your own body betray you. In their presence you will find yourself letting out the breath you didn't know you were holding. Your legs will give out and you will be in a swoon. Your breasts will get involved in ways that you didn't know were possible. Sometimes they will tighten up - other times they will heave. But, they will definitely respond to the magic peen. They can't help it - being womanly mounds that are strictly designed for manly pleasure and all.

So, again it was a lot of guys, the whole book is a series of each guy taking his turn to do a curing-session with Nora and their magic peen. Of course, the peens may be magic, but the author didn't have any balls because the sex scenes were lame and faded to black in a crappy way. If you want to know how to fade-to-black well, just read Nora Roberts, writing as J.D. Robb, in the Eve Dallas series. She knows how to make a sex scene romantic and hot while still keeping it clean and fading away.

It did make me realize that I'm not a Reverse Harem kind of girl. One monogamous relationship is better because you can build up the romance and heat, and the sex is the pay-off. When you have to fit in sex scenes for a bunch of guys, it loses its magic and it feels forced & rushed.

tho why the hell would you go into a fight knowing you locked away your own powers. the amount of marysue-damsel in distress-bullshit in that sentence
But everyone else wanted to 'fix' her to not go outta control which is our main plotline here
This series is just enjoyable. The characters are hilarious and leave you wanting more. The heroine has a unique backstory that I’m excited to see how its developed. And the harem isn’t a total smut fest *shucks*
Parker, Oliver, Rook, Illren, then we got Terrence, Nick, Ren & Enzo as nonsexual can members
I really adore each of these characters and how unique their dynamic is. They each add an essential element with one uber sweet, possessive, badass, protective, etc.
I wanted this book to really focus on these established characters group dynamic by continuing to build their bond together, chemistry, and have them all interacting with each other AND Nora
But instead, the focus went more towards introducing ANOTHER new guy named ... Charlie ??
Cupid Charlie was admittedly a funny character,
But literally, why was he added?? I didn't like how cupid was labeled as fey Where was the magic variety we had going? I didn't like that he was dubbed as the fae mate what about Illren He just felt thrown in last-minute like oh hey this guy would be funny

All the build-up of stuff we've been waiting to happen in this series -- happened in this book!!
These characters are HILARIOUS, and unique and funny and I could just keep reading books of them all going fucking shopping together or something. But the plot was very much revolved around Nora's identity so once that was solved-- they just ended it.
Overall. This series was hilarious. I adored the characters *acknowledging Nora's eh marysue. I loved the world and magic building. Honestly, I could've read an even longer more plot-driven series with these characters but I enjoyed the 4 books. I'd definitely recommend this if you enjoy laughing, fun reverse harems that don't take themselves 2 seriously.
My main critique is that the sex scenes were minimal. Like after 3 books of build-up, I thought we were gonna get some menage steamy. But we never really got that hot and steamy sexual details *bummer* We just got like 1 or 2 vague scenes of her being intimate with other people. so if you don't like descriptive graphic sex, you will def like this!

Damn. That didn’t live up to my expectations. And it’s a shame because I absolutely loved books 1 to 3. So for this book, the conclusion of the series, to be like this... welllllllll, for me, it’s a huge let down. So much so, that I feel like I have to revise my ratings for books 1 to 3 (lowering them from 5 to 4 stars) because of how this book wrapped the series up. 😢

Here’s why this book didn’t work for me:
I didn’t understand the presence of Charlie, the Cupid. Frankly, I don’t think the story needed him at all. In fact, I kinda hated that he’s Nora’s bonded fae mate esp since Terrance explained that the fae only get one. Ugh. Imo, it (Nora’s one fae mate) should’ve been Illren instead. And for the rest of the book, I admit, I was resentful of Charlie because of this.
I also didn’t like that the intimate scenes were all fade -to-black. It killed any and all the feels for me.
Lastly, there’s a rushed feeling to the entire book which feels at odds to how books 1 to 3 were paced. (I re-read them prior to reading book 4, this one; because I wanted to make sure that the whole storyline was fresh in my head.)
It almost felt like a staccato, directionless, tying up of story arcs just so they’d get ticked off some list. Like “Oh, we need to make sure we get Nora and Ollie intimate.” Boom! Check. “Oh! Nick hasn’t yet shifted into his dragon form.” Boom! Got that done. “Huh? We haven’t had sexy time between Parker and Nora yet.” Okay. Check. “What about Henry? What are we going to do about him?” Let’s make this happen.
Sigh.

My biggest problems with this book
1) Some weird as heck fade to black sex scenes!!!!!! Listen I cannot begin to express how much that annoyed me!!! Who reads a RH with fade to black?!!! What the hell was that??? After plodding through 4 books with Nora 's dumb ass and this is my reward??????????????
2) The villain.......really???? From book 1 Henry the master vampire has been obsessed with Nora, in each book he's escalated.....kidnapping and compelling her on multiple occasions yet he always receives a slap on the wrist. And he returns in every book to try again! Seriously???????? Jeeze, thankfully Nora finally ends him here
3)We're told MULTIPLE times that Nora is so powerful, she's a rare being who can do everything but fly.....yet Nora gets kidnapped and hurt in EVERY book!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In this case she took advice from Henry! The same vampire who's been after her forever?!!!!!!! I just don't get it!
This series was way too long with the same basic plotline for each, I can forgive much but 4 books.....multiple mates and yet vague sexy times??? Unforgivable!

Umm...
Not the great ending I was hoping for. So after waiting for this fourth book I might have built it up in my head. Since Nora had not been intimate with anyone in the prior books I was expecting it to happen and while it did I'm not a fan of that fade to black description. Also felt like a lot was crammed into this book, felt rushed. Had a YA feel to the book. Kinda disappointed.

It’s pretty ironic that this is a reverse harem series considering how unsexy the well... sex is in this installment. And the romance as well. The chemistry wasn’t there for me which is a sad way to end a series.
Also wtf was up with Cupid? Why throw an unnecessary newbie into an already crammed story. He made as much sense as wearing suspenders and a belt together. Oh well 🤷🏻♀️

Great ending. I love Parker, Oliver, Rook, Charlie, Terrence, Ren, Nick, Enzo, and their whole clan. Love it! I don't love how everything with Charlie feels rushed.

It saddens me to give only 3 stars to one of my favorite rh series but this last book left so much unresolved. I felt it was rushed as well, especially the relationship with Charlie. I love Jackie May but I’m truly disappointed with this last book. I know we’ll see Nora and her men as cameos in her other books but I still feel like their story shouldn’t have ended this quickly.

What to say? I liked the series an it worked for me.
Nora (and I was warned about it) is a special snow flake. Still I wanted to read this series, because I love Kelly Oram's books and here she coauthors with her husband.
At the beginning of the series, Nora believes that she is human and has some strange psychic abilities. She can see the past by touching a person or object and has a warning mechanism, when her life is threatened. And believe me her life is threaten more and more. And she has an allure on men. The can't stay away from her, are drawn to her or even obsessed with her.
In the first book she goes to Underworld with her neighbour and an unknown guy. And it starts the trouble. Underworld is a club that belongs to Terrance a troll and a friend of Nora. She actually goes there, because she knows that Terrance will protect her if the creepy neighbour gets handsy. Suddenly she is tangled up in the supernatural world, have a lot of supernatural guys very interested in her. But she is not interested in relationships because she was raped in her past.
In all the four books are different cases Nora helps to solve with her special abilities. At the same time she is actually very deep in the the supernatural world and attracted to many guys.
There are many secrets about Nora which unfold in those four books. In the end there is a show down. I was a little annoyed that it was so clear who the bad guy will be when Nora was like why did you betray me? That part was a little annoying. But overall I liked the series and in this case Nora the special snow flake worked for me.

Trotz der wundervollen Leistung von Luisa Wietzorek, Königin des Mikrofons, konnte mich der finale Band der Underworld Chronicles nicht so ganz abholen.
Die Sirene war besitzergreifend und objektifizierend, was mega ätzend war, aber sie sollte mir ja auch nicht sympathisch sein. Außerdem wurde sie als eigenständiges Wesen betrachtet, somit konnte Nora auch für alles die Schuld auf sie abwerfen.
Insgesamt wurde mir etwas zu viel "Er gehört MIR!!" geschrien und dass alle Mitglieder des Harems bereit sind, sich die Frau, die sie lieben zu teilen, ohne dass es jemals zu Streitereien kommt, verwundert mich doch sehr (Nora ist quasi der Inbegriff eines Pick-me-girls).
Trotz des Harem-Themas, das mich überhaupt nicht anspricht, war die Story (soweit vorhanden, denn die Lovestories haben viel Platz eingenommen) wieder sehr gut gelungen.
Nach wie vor sind auch die Charaktere sehr sympathisch, obwohl es mich doch wundert, wie schnell die so berührungsscheue Nora sich dann doch für die offenbar heilende Wirkung von Sex öffnen konnte. Und jedes Mal war es das beste, was sie je erlebt hatte🤨🤔🤔 Naja, ich lass das mal einfach so stehen.
Die Reihe ist, soweit ich weiß, damit beendet, allerdings ist das Ende recht offen, also würde mich eine Fortsetzung nicht wundern. Ob ich es lesen würde weiß ich aber nicht😅

I enjoyed the last book of the series; there was just one thing I really did not like. Nevertheless, the rest of the plot was great, and I even cried toward the end of the story - but I'm not giving spoilers as to why.

3,5 Sterne 🌟
Ich hab schon in den Reviews zu den vorherigen Teilen erzählt, dass diese Reihe für mich zum absoluten Guilty Pleasure geworden ist. Das ist auch bei dem 4. Buch geblieben. Auf den Abschluss habe ich mich riesig gefreut und das Buch in Nullkommanichts verschlungen.
Die Geschichte ist locker flockig, macht einfach Spaß und ist super, um Mal den Kopf auszuschalten. Dabei lernen wir in jedem Teil neue Charaktere und Fantasywesen kennen, die einem schnell ans Herz wachsen.
Besonders faszinierend finde ich das Beziehungskonzept, weil es hier nicht nur einen Love Interest gibt, sondern gleich mehrere und es somit eine Art polyamouröse Partnerschaft ist 💕
Dabei ist die Geschichte nicht besonders deep, dafür umso unterhaltsamer und kann wieder mit Krimi-Elementen punkten.
Die Handlung ist mit dem 4. Band gut abgeschlossen, allerdings bleibt noch genug Raum, für weitere Geschichten. Im Englischen gibt es auch schon eine Spin-Off-Reihe, von der ich nur hoffen kann, dass sie auch ins Deutsche übersetzt wird! 😄
Von mir gibt's eine Empfehlung, wenn ihr Lust auf ein simples, kurzweiliges, aber super unterhaltsames Abenteuer habt! 🌟

Die Geschichte ist locker flockig, macht einfach Spaß und ist super, um Mal den Kopf auszuschalten. Dabei lernen wir in jedem Teil neue Charaktere und Fantasywesen kennen, die einem schnell ans Herz wachsen.
Besonders faszinierend finde ich das Beziehungskonzept, weil es hier nicht nur einen Love Interest gibt, sondern gleich mehrere und es somit eine Art polyamouröse Partnerschaft ist 💕
Dabei ist die Geschichte nicht besonders deep, dafür umso unterhaltsamer und kann wieder mit Krimi-Elementen punkten.
Die Handlung ist mit dem 4. Band gut abgeschlossen, allerdings bleibt noch genug Raum, für weitere Geschichten. Im Englischen gibt es auch schon eine Spin-Off-Reihe, von der ich nur hoffen kann, dass sie auch ins Deutsche übersetzt wird! 😄
Von mir gibt's eine Empfehlung, wenn ihr Lust auf ein simples, kurzweiliges, aber super unterhaltsames Abenteuer habt! 🌟

Mmmm, this series honestly went a little downhill for me.
I felt like Nora got more naive with each book, to the point where she bordered on TSTL. I mean, Henry. Henry has fucked them over in literally every book, there are never any real consequences, and they always end up working with him again.
And, too, there's no consequences for anyone, really. The FUA is a pretty rotten organization, who allows horrible things happen in the name of political expediency. They are part of the problem. Having our heroine work with them is ... disappointing. No consequences.
And finally, I suppose it just felt repetitive by the end. Every book is basically the same villain, that we keep stupidly trusting. And every book is a series of "OMG people are trying to kidnap Nora" plots. Along with people being lured to her by her magic vajayjay. There were flavors of late Anita Blake in here, and they made me frown.

Overall, I've enjoyed this series and Nora was a great heroine to follow through her crazy journey. This last book though fell a little flat for me and seemed too rushed compared the previous books. Especially with the addition of yet another guy in Nora's harem. Adding someone this late to the story just felt weird since he then didn't get a ton of page time and almost felt like an afterthought at times. But again, I still really enjoyed the series as a whole and I'm excited to read more from this author.

one of my favorite RH series!
I am sad it's over, but I am glad everything was wrapped up in this book.
I love the MC Nora and her guys.
What I liked about this RH is in her harem she has guys who are there as friends/clan members not bf's. And, for the guys she is romantic with its only around 5. I think RH's are better when they don't go past 5 main guys. I don't like when the MC has too many guys because it gets super confusing who's who. ( one book series i read the girl has like 9! )
Also,in this book she finally has sex with the guys. For a change, the sex scenes aren't super graphic or long. Some RH can be one big sex scene from the start to the end of the book. This one you have seen her building a relationship with the guys since book 1.
Also, since she was assaulted in the past as a character you see her take her time up to book 4 going into a physical relationship.( Again, some other RH you see the girl who was assaulted in her past, but by the end of book 1 she is okay with having sex with multiple men she loves.)
And, it had a great pace. This book was really focused on building up the relationship with Nora and her guys. The plot was great too because there was other things going on besides her relationship with the guys. So all in all for an RH book I was happy. Plus, who doesn't love a happy ending?
I haven't found any new RH in the past 5 months i have loved. So, if anyone has any suggestions of RH that they love as much at the Nora Jacobs series lemme know:)

C’est le meilleur tome de la série car on a enfin ce qu’on attendait depuis le début. Il manque quelques tomes pour avoir une conclusion vraiment satisfaisante. Dommage qu’il n’y ait pas de spin off sur Nick.

Awwww, I'm so sad now that I've finished the last book of this series. I'm really going to miss these characters. My only two complaints about this series are 1. It's over and 2. I felt the author rob me of the sex scenes. Seriously, Josh and Kelly why write an RH novel about a girl with five guys and not give some of your sex-starved readers some hot and steamy sexual details huh? I mean if you were so worried about your children reading this book then you should have given them this version and wrote another version for your over 18+ readers. I mean I'm not asking for x-rated or filthy raunchiness but gessh, it was just too damn vanilla for my liking. I mean you seriously had a slow burn going on for the first 3 books and at the last book when she could finally let go her fear and she has sex with her men you water down the very acts of it... That's just so wrong on so many levels... Josh and Kelly, you're a big TEASE and I don't like it!!!! I only give you a pass because of the storyline made up for your seriously lacking of spicy and the sexy this could have been! Damn this should have been a 5* book... SMH!
Anyway, I know this won't be the last book I will read written by you guys but I now know what to expect from you big teasers that always take you there and then make you wait for it and then bail out at the last minute... Ich liebe diese Serie, aber schon in den letzen Bänden hat sich etwas abgezeichnet, dass mir leider gar nicht gefallen hat. Hier wurde es noch schlimmer und daher hatte ich anfangs gar nicht die Motivation weiterzulesen. Ich habe es natürlich dann doch getan und durch den Schreibstil und anderen Handlungen kam ich dann auch schnell durch. Aber diese komische Wendung war leider nicht meins und ich konnte es mir beim besten Willen einfach nicht vorstellen. 😞

Nora ist von ihrem Fluch befreit und ich von Nora …
Ich weiß wirklich nicht, wie und wieso ich es bis zum Ende dieser Reihe geschafft habe.
Band 1 fand ich noch relativ gut, nichts Herausragendes, aber die Welt hatte Potenzial und Spannung war durchaus da. Doch nachdem ich mich bereits sehr über Band 2 aufgeregt hatte, da ich mit dem Inhalt einfach nicht viel anfangen konnte, hätte ich bereits dort aufhören sollen. Stattdessen hatte ich irgendwie Hoffnung, dass es besser würde. Überraschung – wurde es, für mich, zumindest nicht.
Doch die Underworld Chronicles haben mich eines gelehrt: Da draußen sind unfassbar viele gute Bücher, und meine Zeit ist begrenzt. Statt mich also durch eine Reihe zu „kämpfen“ (es war keine Qual, aber auch kein Vergnügen), die ich persönlich als mittelmäßig empfinde, sollte ich meine kostbare Zeit lieber nutzen, um Bücher zu lesen, die wirklich meinen Geschmack treffen und die ich gut finde. Damit nehme ich doch immerhin etwas Gutes aus der Lektüre dieser Reihe mit.
Wie gesagt, am Anfang fand ich die Reihe noch ganz in Ordnung, doch dann ging es bergab. Mittlerweile bin ich dem Ganzen ziemlich überdrüssig. Nora ist auch in Band 4 noch immer eine kolossale Mary Sue und es ist mir wirklich ein Rätsel (no joke), wieso alle in der Reihe sie als so wunderbar und einzigartig ansehen, wenn sie am Ende des Tages so stinklangweilig ist. Sie hat halt keine Macken, sie ist perfekt. Und das Autorenduo hat sich auch nicht gescheut, das einem wieder unter die Nase zu reiben und sie außerdem zu einem der mächtigsten Wesen überhaupt zu machen. Und hey, ich mag so was an sich, wenn die Protas f*cking stark sind und badass. Nora kaufe ich es aber einfach nicht ab. Einerseits hat sie so eine super krasse Sirenen-Power und dann wird sie ständig niedergestreckt, manipuliert, entführt, um dann natürlich gerettet werden zu müssen.
Ich habe das schon nach Band 3 gesagt und ich sage es jetzt wieder: Sicherlich kann man eine Geschichte über eine Sirene besser schreiben. Nora wurde durch ihre Fähigkeiten einfach zur größten Mary Sue, die man finden kann.
Und auch ihr Clan wird ständig als unfassbar mächtig und furchteinflößend bezeichnet, aber ständig stirbt irgendjemand halb oder eine Mission scheitert (meistens wird Nora dann entführt). Alle sind natürlich unfassbar schön und bezaubernd und überhaupt die tollsten Wesen Detroits.
Die Idee mit Noras Vergangenheit fand ich wirklich noch gut – dass sie nicht wusste, was sie ist, und alle Männer ständig ungewollt in ihren Bann gezogen hat, wodurch sie viele schlimme Erfahrungen mit sexuellem Missbrauch machen musste. Wie man dann allerdings darauf kommt, dass sie dieses Problem nur in den Griff kriegt, indem sie einen Harem bildet, bei dem die Hälfte der Männer einfach wandelnde Red Flags sind (hustrookhustillrenhust), ist mir ein Rätsel. Ich fand es in den vorherigen Bänden auch gut, wie ihr Trauma nur langsam aufgearbeitet wurde, wodurch es eben nicht direkt zur Sache ging mit ihren Männern – auch wenn einige nie verstanden haben, dass man Grenzen zu akzeptieren hat …
In Band 4 wird das meiste davon nun über den Haufen geworfen. Checklisten-artig wird ein Mann nach dem anderen abgearbeitet, wenn es darum geht, mit Nora intim zu werden. Ich muss sagen, dass ich es faszinierend finde, wie man es schaffen kann, von vier (bzw. fünf, dazu gleich mehr) Beziehungen einer Person zu schreiben und trotzdem bei keiner einzigen emotional so wirklich was rüberzubringen. Dieses Problem hatte ich schon vorher und auch in Band 4 änderte sich nicht viel. Der einzige, mit dem halbwegs was rüberkam, war für mich Oliver, und er ist auch der Einzige, der mMn so richtig zu Nora passt. Parker geht auch noch, aber bis auf die sexy time kriegt er in diesem Band so gut wie keine Zeit alleine mit Nora.
Rook ist bei mir einfach unten durch, da er Noras Grenzen nie akzeptiert hat, und nein, es ist mir egal, dass er ein Wolf ist / einen Wolf in sich hat, und Illren ist so blass und leer wie ein unbeschriebenes Blatt Papier, mal ganz davon abgesehen, dass auch er von Anfang an übergriffig war. In diesem Band ist davon aber nicht mehr viel zu sehen, da Nora nun mit allen Männern die große Liebe feiert und alles einfach nur rosarot ist.
Tja, und während man die Charakterausarbeitung bereits bei Illren in Band 3 vergessen hatte (ich verstehe null, wieso Nora ihn liebt, außer dass er der super badass Killer ist, natürlich der mächtigste überhaupt in seiner Sparte, ist ja klar), haben die Autoren sich auch entschieden, dies in Band 4 nicht zu ändern. Was machen sie also stattdessen? Sie schmeißen direkt im ersten Kapitel noch einen fünften Mann mit rein, der direkt mit Nora verbunden und zu ihrem Feen-Gefährten wird. Auch Charlie ist nicht mehr als „der Cupido“, so wie Illren „der Killer“ ist und Rook „der Alphawolf“. Wie es den Anschein hatte, ist er wohl in erster Linie dazu da gewesen, Nora auf unterschwellige Art ihre Angst vor Intimität zu nehmen. Hatten die Autoren keine bessere Idee, diesen Punkt aufzulösen? Davon ab ist er so unscheinbar, dass ich nichts weiter über ihn sagen kann. Dachten sich wohl auch die Autoren und haben ihn nicht mal mit Nora intim werden lassen.
Und wenn es nur die Figuren wären. Leider hapert es auch beim Plot. Einen großen Metaplot gibt es in der Reihe nicht wirklich – allerhöchstens Noras Suche nach ihrer Identität und ihre Versuche, damit umzugehen, was sie ist. In jedem Band gab es einen Fall zu lösen – immer wurde entweder jemand vergisst, getötet oder beides. Der Ablauf war oft sehr identisch und in jedem Band gab es einen Zusammenstoß und Konflikt mit Henry.
Auch dort glänzten die ach so intelligente Nora und ihr Clan mit unglaublicher Naivität. Man muss wirklich kein Genie sein, um zu durchschauen, dass Henry sich nicht plötzlich auf magische Weise geändert hat, wo es seit Band 1 darum ging, dass er besessen von Nora ist, absolut und vollkommen. Trotzdem hat ein schwacher Moment und eine Entschuldigung gereicht, damit man ihm vertraut? Und dann schockiert sein, dass er alle verarscht hat. Wow, ganz großes Kino. Und das soll die sooo kluge Nora sein?
Mehr großen Plot über die Reihe verteilt gibt es aber auch nicht. Am Ende ist Nora immer wieder Dreh- und Angelpunkt. In diesem Band kam immerhin etwas Spannung dadurch auf, dass Nora plötzlich böse zu werden scheint, da sie als Sirene verflucht ist und keine Kontrolle darüber hat. Die Beziehung mit ihrer Sirene lässt sich am besten als bipolar bezeichnen.
Ganz ehrlich, ich hätte es gut gefunden, wenn Nora zumindest einmal so richtig in die Scheiße gegriffen hätte. Lass die perfekte Mary Sue einmal so richtig verkacken, sodass selbst ihre Freunde und Lover entsetzt sind. Lass sie einmal ganz unten ankommen und sieh dann zu, wie sie es wieder hinaus schafft. Aber dann wäre sie keine Mary Sue mehr, also … well.
Stattdessen tötet Nora maximal Figuren, die von allen als allgemein böse und schlimmer eingestuft werden, es geht immer ein schockierendes Ereignis hervor (z.B. Angriff auf Oliver), sodass Nora einen entschuldbaren Grund hat, zum mordenden Biest zu werden.
Und die Lösung für ihren Fluch … Na ja. Wer hätte auch ahnen können, dass Henry den Vorschlag, Noras Kräfte zu binden, nicht aus purer Selbstlosigkeit macht?
Den Figuren fliegen Lösungen stets sehr einfach zu, selbst für Probleme, die sich bei den einfachen Lösungen noch ergeben, gibt es wiederum leichte Lösungen. Das ist einfach nicht sehr spannend. Wenig überraschend war es, dass Nora am Ende also von ihrem Fluch befreit werden kann. Ich hätte mir eben gewünscht, dass es hier einen kleinen Preis zu bezahlen, dass es einen Verlust zu beklagen gibt. Aber nicht so hier. Am Ende sind maximal unwichtige Personen gestorben, die nicht mal namentlich erwähnt wurden, und Nora kann mit ihrer wild zusammengewürfelten Familie (ihrem Eigentum, wie sie es nennen würde, denn alle gehören *ihr*) glücklich bis ans Ende aller Tage leben.
Zum qualitativen Aspekt des Schreibens kann und will ich gar nicht mehr viel sagen. Man hat hier meistens tell, statt show, und selbst wenn Nora tief im Besitzt ihrer Sirene ist und dem Inhalt nach nicht mehr viel mitkriegen können sollte, nimmt sie exakt wahr, was um sie herum passiert und gesagt wird. Das zerstört die Illusion und macht es schwer, sich darauf einzulassen, dass Nora gerade mental nicht richtig anwesend ist.
Für mich war die Reihe daher eher nichts, aber ich freue mich, falls andere an ihr Gefallen hatten. Schließlich sind Geschmäcker und Meinungen unterschiedlich. Ich kann auch offen für mich sagen, dass Reverse Harem für mich nichts ist und ich einfach lieber von der Liebe zwischen zwei Charakteren lese.
Fazit: Auch im Abschlussband der Underworld Chronicles hatte ich mit den altbekannten Problemen zu kämpfen: Mary Sue Nora, Probleme werden leicht gelöst, kein großer Hauptplot, mittelmäßiger Schreibstil. Ich bleibe aber dabei, dass die Grundidee der geschaffenen Welt durchaus Potenzial hätte für eine tolle Urban Fantasy-Reihe, nur die Umsetzung empfinde ich als nicht so gelungen. Daher leider nur 1,5/5 Sterne.

Man muss wirklich kein Genie sein, um zu durchschauen, dass Henry sich nicht plötzlich auf magische Weise geändert hat, wo es seit Band 1 darum ging, dass er besessen von Nora ist, absolut und vollkommen. Trotzdem hat ein schwacher Moment und eine Entschuldigung gereicht, damit man ihm vertraut? Und dann schockiert sein, dass er alle verarscht hat. Wow, ganz großes Kino. Und das soll die sooo kluge Nora sein?
Mehr großen Plot über die Reihe verteilt gibt es aber auch nicht. Am Ende ist Nora immer wieder Dreh- und Angelpunkt. In diesem Band kam immerhin etwas Spannung dadurch auf, dass Nora plötzlich böse zu werden scheint, da sie als Sirene verflucht ist und keine Kontrolle darüber hat. Die Beziehung mit ihrer Sirene lässt sich am besten als bipolar bezeichnen.
Ganz ehrlich, ich hätte es gut gefunden, wenn Nora zumindest einmal so richtig in die Scheiße gegriffen hätte. Lass die perfekte Mary Sue einmal so richtig verkacken, sodass selbst ihre Freunde und Lover entsetzt sind. Lass sie einmal ganz unten ankommen und sieh dann zu, wie sie es wieder hinaus schafft. Aber dann wäre sie keine Mary Sue mehr, also … well.
Stattdessen tötet Nora maximal Figuren, die von allen als allgemein böse und schlimmer eingestuft werden, es geht immer ein schockierendes Ereignis hervor (z.B. Angriff auf Oliver), sodass Nora einen entschuldbaren Grund hat, zum mordenden Biest zu werden.
Und die Lösung für ihren Fluch … Na ja. Wer hätte auch ahnen können, dass Henry den Vorschlag, Noras Kräfte zu binden, nicht aus purer Selbstlosigkeit macht?
Den Figuren fliegen Lösungen stets sehr einfach zu, selbst für Probleme, die sich bei den einfachen Lösungen noch ergeben, gibt es wiederum leichte Lösungen. Das ist einfach nicht sehr spannend. Wenig überraschend war es, dass Nora am Ende also von ihrem Fluch befreit werden kann. Ich hätte mir eben gewünscht, dass es hier einen kleinen Preis zu bezahlen, dass es einen Verlust zu beklagen gibt. Aber nicht so hier. Am Ende sind maximal unwichtige Personen gestorben, die nicht mal namentlich erwähnt wurden, und Nora kann mit ihrer wild zusammengewürfelten Familie (ihrem Eigentum, wie sie es nennen würde, denn alle gehören *ihr*) glücklich bis ans Ende aller Tage leben.
Zum qualitativen Aspekt des Schreibens kann und will ich gar nicht mehr viel sagen. Man hat hier meistens tell, statt show, und selbst wenn Nora tief im Besitzt ihrer Sirene ist und dem Inhalt nach nicht mehr viel mitkriegen können sollte, nimmt sie exakt wahr, was um sie herum passiert und gesagt wird. Das zerstört die Illusion und macht es schwer, sich darauf einzulassen, dass Nora gerade mental nicht richtig anwesend ist.
Für mich war die Reihe daher eher nichts, aber ich freue mich, falls andere an ihr Gefallen hatten. Schließlich sind Geschmäcker und Meinungen unterschiedlich. Ich kann auch offen für mich sagen, dass Reverse Harem für mich nichts ist und ich einfach lieber von der Liebe zwischen zwei Charakteren lese.
Fazit: Auch im Abschlussband der Underworld Chronicles hatte ich mit den altbekannten Problemen zu kämpfen: Mary Sue Nora, Probleme werden leicht gelöst, kein großer Hauptplot, mittelmäßiger Schreibstil. Ich bleibe aber dabei, dass die Grundidee der geschaffenen Welt durchaus Potenzial hätte für eine tolle Urban Fantasy-Reihe, nur die Umsetzung empfinde ich als nicht so gelungen. Daher leider nur 1,5/5 Sterne.

Nora keeps growing as a character, overcoming her fears and developing more confidence. She is becoming more comfortable with the men in her life and thinks that she can be happy. Then her power starts to grow and acts on it's own, she is becoming a danger to her men and herself. The underworld community loves her, wants her, or fears her. I really enjoyed navigating Nora developing more into herself. I love her crew of men even more and watching her wind her way through the many levels of relationships she shares with them was fun. I loved her character and hope that the Shayne Davies books are as good. I want to see more of the underworld.

This was a mostly good end to an interesting series with very different characters and a slow burn romance thrown into a high action paranormal world.
I enjoyed most of this series with the character development and balance of action and romance. There were a few times I felt the action was dragged out a bit too long. Also, a lot kept happening to just these few main characters, a lot of near deaths or kidnappings, etc. however the majority of the time the action was entertaining and kept you guessing how they would get out of the new trouble.
I mostly liked the slow burn romance and slow addition of her harem, however I do wish certain people were added to it. This book also added some new characters that then weren’t developed enough by the end. Especially as it was the end of the series, I think the addition may not have been necessary. Or there needed to be a few more scenes just of these new characters so we could get to know them. I was glad that certain characters added in just ended up being friends and not additional men, it’s crazy when RH books have like 7+ men as lovers. But I guess I would have preferred certain of them be swapped out so she still only had 5 but 5 of my favorite characters.
Overall, I did enjoy Nora and her men and their adventures together. It was entertaining and well written even if my personal preference of certain things wasn’t completely satisfied.

Okay Book, but Great Series
3-3.5/5 for this book.
The series is a solid 4/5.
I truly love this series. The characters and their development are wonderful. They are each growing and I love how the book focuses on the continued development of the relationships, both intimate and familial ties. My main gripe about this book was it felt very rushed. Events occurred so fast, back to back, I had trouble keeping a time line. Also it felt like it was trying to hard to have a solid ending for all the open ended issues from previous books, i.e. Henry. Sorry that "twist" was inevitable and predictable in a way.
Also, I'm okay sometimes with fade to black sex scenes. I prefer/ like descriptive sex scenes the best, but I can understand tastefully done fade-to-black scenes as well. This style was neither really. It was so vague it was disappointing and underwhelming. Really:)?! "He surprised me then we were both breathing heavy and sweating afterwards... " or "I kissed my way down his chest and he began to breathe heavy, we were both panting later..." Like that's it?!! I wanted MORE from the characters that I loved so much. We got more from her PTSD in previous books than this. I even had a hard time figuring out what kind of sexual acts were done. I've seen YA books written with more details than this. Ultimately I was let down in that department.
Lastly, there were more grammatical errors tha. In previous books. I may not have noticed it before, but sometimes I had to go back and read through a paragraph to find out who was talking. Missing quotations marks and punctuation through me off.
Overall, I didn't mind the wrap up of the book plot wise. I would have liked to see her clan leave Detriot, but I understood it was too soon for that. I prefer more details when the characters are so well done, even the supporting case. Even though this book was not the best, the series as a whole is GREAT and I would definitely recommend it.

One last time - Mit "Underworld Chronicles - Befreit" geht es ein viertes und leider letztes Mal auf Abenteuer mit Nora und ihren Jungs.
Ich muss schon sagen, ich werde die Bande echt ein bisschen vermissen, denn ich habe die Charaktere nach den 4 Büchern schon sehr ins Herz geschlossen und liebe die gesamte Dynamik der Gruppe sehr. Wie auch bei den vorherigen Bänden habe ich es mir nicht nehmen lassen Teil 1-3 vorab noch einmal zu lesen um mit dem Abschluss der Reihe auch den größtmögliche Wirkung zu spüren. Im direkten Vergleich fiel mir dann jedoch schon auf, dass der vierte Band für mich leider der schwächste in der Reihe ist und es sich für mich eher antiklimatisch angefühlt hat. Irgendwie hat mir zum Abschluss der große WOW Effekt gefehlt um den vorherigen Bänden nochmal eins drauf zu setzen, hätte für mich ein bisschen mehr passieren müssen, sowohl in dem Abenteuer-Aspekt als auch in der Entwicklung der einzelnen Charaktere und dem letztendlich zusammenkommenden Harem.
Nach wie vor gefällt mit neben dem RH, der Found Family Effect immer noch so gut. Die Gruppe hat so viele einzigartige Individuen, die wirklich mit ihren Stärken und Schwächen zur Geschichte beitragen und für viele humorvolle Momente sorgen.
FAZIT: Die Underworld Chronicles umfasst wirklich großer Lesespaß mit genau dem richtigen Mix aus (meinem) Humor, Action und interessanten Charakteren. Für mich nach wie vor das bessere, wenn auch kitschigere “City of Bones".

I enjoyed this series once I accepted it as a YA/RH series.
This is not a series with a lot of sexy times, but the series worked. This was truly more about love, romance and family with the paranormal element added to it.
I wasn't sure how it would work with the fifth and final mate being introduced in this book, but again it all worked.
Don't go into this expecting hot and steamy because you won't get that in this series, but it was still a good series.
