Whether playing ball in the park, feeding the ducks, or reading bedtime stories, Spot and his Daddy are great buddies. Perfect for Father's Day, as well as all year long, this happy and heartwarming book is great for sharing.
Eric Gordon Hill OBE was a popular author and illustrator of children's picture books, best known for his character Spot the Dog. His works have been widely praised for their contributions to child literacy. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours.
A little boy fixated on this and requested it for lap time. However, it doesn't have the flaps and was a little small for the crowd at the end of lap time.
Doesn't mention Father's Day, BUT they do spend the whole day together. The book shows what Spot and his dad did the whole day. It's very sweet and the illustrations are adorable, just like the other Spot books.
This is a simple hoard book about spit and his dad spending the day together at the park, feeding the ducks, and reading a bedtime story together at the end of the day. A sweet “I love you” book for toddlers and preschoolers.
Spot plays outside on the swings with dad, they play football, they fly a kit, feed the ducks, go to the beach and have ice cream, and gets read a story.
My toddlers love the Spot stories. And great for those "just one more book" kind of nights. In this version Spot and his Dad hang out for a Daddy/Spot day.
This is one of the children's books that I read for We Give Books, A Pearson Foundation Initiative to help children all around the world obtain books. It's an organization that gathers many campaigns in one spot on the web to encourage people to read many books for children. With every book you read, one gets donated to the campaign you signed up for. (There's quite a few campaigns available.) A very good friend of mine, Nicole Terazue, recommended this site to me since she knew I loved reading books! (Thanks love!) The campaign I chose to be a part of is called Books For Asia. Every book that I read associated with We Give Books gets donated to Books For Asia so that less fortunate kids in Asia will be able to have more books to read from and learn. It's a fabulous project and I urge all readers, especially parents with young children, to join and help other children less fortunate than our own to read and spread the word of We Give Books. It will benefit children everywhere.
Let me start off by saying that I grew up with Spot. Every Friday in elementary school I used to go to my school library and there were two types of books I used to check out: Dr. Seuss and Spot. Spot was a loving figure of my childhood and reading this book now that I am old enough to drive a car, I realize... I still feel the same way! This little dog is so loving and adorable that you can't help but fall in love with him by just reading these few pages. This particular book shows his relationship with his father and all the activities they enjoy doing together. Letting your child read this book will not only introduce him/her to a lot of vocabulary that he/she may not know (it's geared towards toddlers ages 0 to 3), but it will also show him/her how a parent and a child's relationship should be. There's one aspect of the book that I must mention. Eric Hall adds little things to the background of the entire story. What I mean is, he puts little details in the artwork that is not shown in the text. For example, the flavors of the ice cream that Spot and his father got were different. You can tell by how it is drawn and from the coloring. That was very wise to include in a book geared towards toddlers. Another thing about this book that I feel needs mentioning is the bright, colorful artwork. This book is visually appealing. Your child will find this book irresistible! After all, who doesn't love reading about a cute puppy and his daddy? I really think you should read this book with your baby because it will help him/her learn on so many levels. I know I would want to have this book in my collection for years and years to come! (I love Spot! He brings back so many memories for me!!!)
This book was a huge favourite of mine. I wanted to get a dog after reading it. I used to have ALL of these books and I read them a lot because I liked the pictures. When it became an animated thing, I lved it so much! I had the VHSs and watched them everyday. I don't know when I stopped or when I grew up from it, but this series has completely escaped my memory until just recently when I read the book: "1001 Children's Books you must read before you grow up".
The activities Eric Hill has Spot and his daddy doing in Spot Loves His Daddy conveys the connection and warmth between Spot and his father. Hill skillfully presents the implicit love that fathers show through everyday actions. This is a great book that encourages little ones to be thankful for father-figures in their lives.
The first book that E. ever really requested and then voluntarily sat through without needing to be like... restrained. (He really couldn't be more different than H.)
He probably likes this one because it has all of his favorite things:
- puppy dogs (insert panting sound here) - beach balls - soccer balls - ducks - eating - ice cream - the park - the beach - daddy
A perfect book for a little one and daddy to read together. This board book is a quick story about the fun things Spot and his daddy do on their day together, including reading a bed time story. Spot's trademark simple pictures and simple story make it a good choice for even the youngest readers.
I read this book for www.wegivebooks.com, an organization driven toward the promotion of children's literacy. For every ebook that is read on the website, a physical book is donated to a child.
This is a cute book to teach father's love by playing with and read book to his son. Therefore, this book can be good to read to pre-kindergarten and kindergarten at father's day.
It's nigh impossible to find anything not to like about a "Spot" book. I'm sure one can find a copy of this title on the shelves as well as in the mouths of toddlers everywhere.
