MY RATING GUIDE: 3.5 Stars. Nicely done.
1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I ENJOYED THIS; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).

SILVER BELLS was a novella that dealt with life (and love) after the death of a beloved spouse. Both MCs had experienced the death of their spouse within the last 5yrs; both had been happily married over 30 yrs. The MMC lost his wife through long-term illness; the FMC lost her husband through a sudden and unexpected death. SILVER BELLS included several thoughts I found rather insightful. I thought this story handled the topic of new love and new possibilities after personal grief rather well for a short novella. SILVER BELLS ends with a HFN rather than a HEA which is perhaps more believable given the situation.

This was my first Liz Kelley novel.

READER CAUTION ~ Mostly Clean.

A precious second love!

Jan, the assistant to Zoey at the Silver Fox Resort, lost her husband to a heart attack four years ago, but she has not dated since. Neither she nor her daughters would have been ready. Tim, the high school principal, who is also the yoga instructor at the resort, lost his wife one year ago, but she had suffered for many years with Alzheimer's. Tim's ready for a new relationship, but is Jan?

What unfolds is a beautiful story of two people who were deeply in love with their spouses, the pain and agony of saying goodbye emotionally to the past, and the kindness, trust and compassion of accepting this precious second love for a chance at a happy future together. It's a truly beautiful story just perfect for the holidays!

The holiday season can be just plain difficult to deal with. Add in the complication of dealing with loved ones who were taken from us too soon, and it becomes infinitely harder. Jan and Tim, widow and widower, understand the pain of trying to carry on alone after losing a life partner, but only one of them can say they’re ‘living’ their life. This sweet little story shows us that love has no age limit and that pain doesn’t stop love, it only makes it shine brighter.

Nice to read an over-40 story!

Jan Sterling was widowed four years ago and is having a hard time moving on from her life with her beloved deceased husband, Jack. I found her children’s attitudes a bit much. Even though they had lives of their own, of course they thought they knew what was best for their mother.

She runs into an old friend, Tim Howard, and they rekindle that friendship. Will it turn not something more? It will keep you guessing.

Silver Bells is a heartbreaking and heartwarming story at the same time. Jan and Tim are both dealing with the loss of spouses and find each other at the right time. A friendship is rekindled and it grows into a beautiful love story. The writing is well done, the characters are believable and the ending is perfect. My only complaint is that I wish this short story was a novel because I didn't want their story to end.

This story spoke to me

As I read this story it seemed to parallel with my life except the meeting of a man. I realized that I was the same person as The lady in the story. Thank you for bringing this wisdom to me while I enjoy this story. Being a widow Is a hard road and we can get confuse About what to do as a single woman later in life. Not to say that I'm going to meet a man But it at least now I know what part of the grief process I'm at.

This is my third book in this series and I am thoroughly enjoying these older heroes and heroines finding their happy ever after. I really enjoy Lyz Kelleys writing style and the respectful way her characters deal with life’s issues.
This book is a short read and just perfect for that rainy day with it’s appealing, down to earth characters. Absolutely recommended.

Sweet story

This novella hit close to home for me. I lost my husband a few months ago. The sentiments in this story are so spot on to what I am feeling. This second chance romance is so sweet, well told and what one could wish for.

I loved Tim and Jana story. It’s a sweet story of loss and finding Love again. I’m glad I read the other two books first. I wish this story was longer; but I am glad I found this series.

A great quick read about a side character in the main Silver Fox Resort series. I loved reading about this couple, Jan and Tim, and how they both overcome the loss of their respective spouses and how they are able to come together despite some opposition. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Enjoyed. Liked that the characters were adults dealing with real life. I wish it had been a little longer. Felt it ended to soon.

A Little Gem, Overflowing With Hope
This was such a lovely and touching holiday story of two people who had lost their spouses, but were now finding their way to a possible new future together. Lyz handled the storyline with great sensitivity and understanding. Hope was a guiding light in this feel good read that would be a shame to miss.

A sweet story of love after loss

A great short read of finding love after loss. I loved this story about Jan and Tim. They have both lost someone special from their lives. One a year ago and the other 4 years ago. With Jan's daughter wanting her to not forget her dad, Jan feels as though she needs to live and Tim may be it. A wonderfully warm story about refunding yourself, living again and finding love, no matter how scary it feels.

It's never too late for a new beginning in your life...

Lyz Kelley weaves a beautifully exquisite story about two people who come together after they both have suffered the loss of a loved one. The memories they both share with each other creates a bond that starts a connection they both cannot fight.

I immersed myself in their story as it gives hope to start again and to look forward to the future.

Mature love

Finally another writer who doesn't think you have to be young to fall in love and have a mate! There are many of us who want to read about mature couples and not just GenerationX. Only problem is it was too short.

Not much of a story. Had it been more well-developed, I may have liked it better, but the characters and much of the writing was lacking. It also felt very rushed.
