Young Marius Beecher is living a carefree life in rural Kansas when a chance encounter reveals his gift for music. But just as his talents start to flourish, he learns his mother will suffer a long and terrible illness. He’s assured that a genetic treatment called the Cure will protect him from the same fate, like others in the so-called Perfect Generation.

When a tragic revelation sends his life into a tailspin, he reluctantly travels to a festival for others like him. The eventful week that follows sets him and his new friends on a path to keep music alive in a generation forever robbed of its innocence.

Clockwatchers explores the formation of a young band against all odds and the power of music to inspire hope, in the tradition of Sing Street and The Commitments.

About the author

I write cinematic sci-fi of substance. What does that mean?

My love of writing came from reading, of course, but my love of story really came from movies. Expect smart characters and short chapters that move along at a cinematic pace. I like intricate, plausible stories that reward careful readers without alienating those who just want to kick back and escape this messed-up world for a while.

I currently have two series: Reassembly, a humorous space opera with six books, and a dystopian trilogy, The Cytocorp Saga. I expect to release the first book in a new sci-fi series sometime in mid 2026.

I currently live in Ecuador.

Lots of interesting and intriguing action in this wonderful book of the perfect generation. This is a really original idea and is very well-written. I was hooked from the start and could not put it down.
