Iridescent Realm #4

The Sable Keep

Rate this book
It starts with a disappearance.

Mine to be precise. One moment I’m fighting a dark magic user, the next I’m thrown through the air, not coming to a stop until I’m far from home with no magic and no way to return.

That’s only the beginning of my problems. When I finally make it back, I see the man I can’t stop thinking about wielding a sword like an extension of his body. He’s covered in blood, most of which isn’t his, thankfully.

I don’t live in a peaceful kingdom like others in the realm. I live on a floating island that houses the worst criminals out there. My home sits near a prison.

My magic finally comes back to me, dark as it may be. I wasn’t here when the prisoners escaped. Fortunately, Ryland showed up just in time.

He shouldn’t want to be with me. I’m meant to hunt criminals, not get a happily ever after.

My heart wars with my mind. In the end, there’s no doubt which will win.

I’m in love with a prince.

Someone I’ll fight to the death for.

Let’s hope when the time comes, we’re both prepared for the battle headed our way.

The Sable Keep is the fourth and final book in the Iridescent Realm series. It features a heroine who has dark magic and knows how to use it and a prince who does everything he can to prove there’s no place he’d rather be than fighting by her side. This book contains explicit content and graphic violence intended for those 18 and over. Each book in the series ends with a happily ever after and is best enjoyed when read in order.

I have been waiting for this story since the release of book three, and getting back into this very imaginative world was truly amazing. We are once again in the world of Azure, Pine, Fuchsia and now we came for the Sable. This time we get to see the history where the main characters are Ryland and Vivisi - for Ry, we met in previous books and got our interest in him high (at least me). Let the author lead you - trust Ms. Dare she will take care of us readers! The Sable Keep is a really good book concluding the Iridescent Realm tetralogy!
And I have to mention one thing - we will get to see some Easter Eggs here! And to be honest I LOVED it!

What another amazing read by Michelle that had me completely hooked. I absolutely love the world Michelle creates and wish I could jump in and live there lol. I absolutely love Ry & Viv and their journey they went on. I truly loved seeing my fav Verascue brothers in this story as well. I sad too see this series end. Another phenomenal 5 star read that everyone must one-click.

I didn't read the first three books in the series and after reading The Sable Keep, I don't think it's necessary to. It seems to be a standalone for the characters Ryland and Vivisi, though the realms and families are mentioned in the other books.

It was really hard to get into the story, the writing isn't what I'm used to but that could just be Michelle Dare's style. To me, it has a "halting" way to it, like I'm reading an essay rather than a book. After the first couple of chapters she was able to pull me in and pique my interest with unanswered questions and hints at the upcoming battles, but it felt very stagnant. I will say, that I love the world she wrote about and how it was governed. She had a lot of unique aspects that I wasn't expecting and I wanted to learn as much as possible about.

However, there isn't much character or world building. She would describe the general idea of something but there weren't many details. I loved the ideas, but I found it hard to really grasp what she envisioned.

One of the biggest things I noticed was how cliché the interactions were between Ryland and Vivisi. There were also a few times in the story that Michelle wrote of Ryland being possessive by telling Vivisi things like "No one will ever feel this good for you as I will" (Not a direct quote). I know this book is explicit so hopefully there aren't Teens reading this, but I think it's important to point out that no one should say that to someone they love. It's not just possessive, it's mental abuse. It made me want to throat punch Ryland.

Vivisi was written to come off as a badass that doesn't need anyone. She's out bringing in dark magic users to their incredibly remote prison that's so cold and unforgiving, even stepping inside shuts out light, warmth and happiness. When I read how mind-blowingly dark this prison is, I thought "there's gonna be some badass fight scenes in this book." There wasn't!!
Michelle wrote how Ryland isn't proficient in swordsmanship but as soon as a war breaks out, he's chopping off limbs left and right. Once, I can forgive. But there's a second time he doesn't know how to use something (I won't spoil) and a few paragraphs later he's wielding it like he was born into it and Vivisi is just soooo impressed.

TL;DR - You're not wasting your time reading this book and I'm sure there are those that are used to Michelle's way of writing or don't find it hard to get through like I did. She has beautiful ideas that keep you interested, I read the Ariane Trilogy in full and I felt the same with those. Loved the plot, but the writing fell short for me.

✯✯5 Ryland & Vivisi Filled Stars!!!✯✯

I’ve been waiting for Michelle Dare to release the next book in The Iridescent Realm Series and I was starting to think she’d never go back to it. I squealed when she announced she was going to release one last book in the series and it was going to be Ryland’s story and I been waiting on his story since book one.

Ryland is the Prince of the Azure Kingdom and he’s the next in line for the throne and he’s been spending his life with his dad learning how to be King like his father. Ryland loves his dad, family and kingdom but he’s missing something but he keeps it to himself. But, Vivisi the Princess of The Sable Kingdom has his insides feeling something even though she doesn’t want to acknowledge it.

Vivisi is The Princess of The Sable Kingdom. It’s only her and her aunt and they spend their day tracking down the people who’re using dark magic. Since one of them has to be in Sable to make sure none of the prisoners escape when Vivise goes missing her aunt asks Ryland to help her.

There’s somebody looking to get the prisoner’s out and don’t care if they hurt Vivisi or her aunt.

Vivisi and Ryland are going after the one who’s behind the attacks on Sable while they’re fighting their attractions and feelings.

Vivisi doesn’t want Ryland to be stuck with her on dark, cold Sable and Ryland’s realizing that there’s more to life than just ruling Azure and he’d do anything to be with Vivisi.

I’m in love with this series and I’m SO upset that it’s ending. I don’t love that whenever you read paranormal book by Michelle Dare you never know who’s gonna pop up. I’m looking forward to seeing what Michelle Dare releases next.

The Sable Keep is the fourth book in the Iridescent Real series by Michelle Dare. I've been waiting to read this one for a while now. Having read the book 3, The fushia lake, when it got released in 2018. So was really happy to get back into that world.

It's starts with Viv disappearance, princess of Sable.

Sable is a floating island where a prison is for dangerous criminals. Ryland, prince of Azure is on its way to Sable fortunately in time to help before some of the prisonners escaped. He meant to go after Viv, be this one managed to come back on her own. Those two are fated, but for Viv, this would'nt work. Rye would never want to be with her. A live hunting dark magic users. But when one dangerous prisonners escaped and that she can't find him, and according to the others in the prison there's a Master being those escape, she will work with Ryland to stop this before it get worse and save the realm.

I have really loved Ryland and Vyv story. And the visit they make to the other realm to see familiars characters. Sad that it's the end of the serie.

Michelle Dare is one of my favorite authors and stories like this are why! I'm not a big fan of fantasy books, however, when written by Michelle, I find I can't put it down...she has me mesmerized with her writings!

I loved how Viv and Ry were fated to be together, but fought it. Michelle Dare makes us patiently wait while there characters work it out and then wraps them up in a nice neat package for the reader!

I'm sad to see this series end! However, I was so glad characters from other stories were in it! In my opinion I'd like to live in a world where Verascue brothers exist!!

Great series!!

I received an ARC of this book from.the author and I loved it!! Viv and Ry are such wonderful characters who complete each other. Such a page turner that has you wondering what will happen next. It's a roller coaster of a ride! It has some old characters and also some characters from her Avynwood series. The Verascue brothers are hilarious as ever. Those that have read eveything Avynwood will know what I mean!! Michelle has done it again with this book and always keeps you in your toes! So definitely read this book if you have read the rest of the Iridescent Realm series. You won't regret it!!.

How can two totally different people from different relems be fated to each other? This is your story to find out. Prince Ryland and Princess Vivisa. The Prince is from light and color. While the princess is from darkness and cold. Viv is the keeper with her aunt are the keepers of the Sable. Where the prisoners go who use dark magic. She is a hunter. Now these two have dreams about being fated. So when danger comes for them called the Master they need a plan. They need each other to fight for their love and the darkness away..... if you enjoy fantasy, flying dragons and magic of light and dark this is your story. Two worlds can have it all.

Another wonderfully exciting and fabulous adventure from the talented Michelle Dare. It’s not like she’s writing books it’s more like she’s just updating us on how our friends are doing and what’s going on their lives since we saw them last. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. However I also own copies of all her books.

Story of Viv and Ry who is the oldest son in line to be king in Azure. Viv and her aunt Laseva roundup evil dark magic criminals and lock them up on Sable. Very fast moving and suspenseful series with characters from my other favorite books such as the Verascues and shape shifters! Highly recommended!.

Well worth it

If you love romance, action, conflict, and love conquering all this series is for you.
Each book in the series was as good as the one previous, but none made me tear up as much as the last.
I have so many books on my TBR list, but I can't help but add the other series that compliment the Iridescent Realm.

captivating

I love the all the series that Michelle writes and I am sad at the end of each one. The characters all seem like family who go away and leave me with the memories. I thoroughly recommend any of Michelle’s books if you want to become a member of their world.

Dark

This book the final one is a little dark. An it has to do with the first born son. If you want an HEA this is it wrapped up in a nut shell.

I have been patiently waiting for another Iridescent Realm story and Ry and Viv didn't disappoint. Both Viv and Ry know they are fated but they fight the bond because they believe they have different destiny's. They quickly find that their lives are intertwined and fate has another plan for them. The realm hopping made my heart happy and there was enough angst and evil for a great story.

I quite enjoyed the prior books in the series but this one failed to satisfy. The heroine is unlikeable & overpowers the hero, which never worse. It’s unbelievable. Women need men they can admire; this is basic biology. The more powerful the heroine - because all heroines have to be absurdly strong & special now thanks to the cultural disease known as feminism! - the more elevated the hero must be to satisfy her hypergamy. Without this, neither the heroine nor the reader can fall in love with the hero.

As I recall, the plot was also uninspiring and I struggled to finish the book.
