From the gutter to the stars...

Dance brought us back together.
Our pain and hurt bled out with every movement, with every step across the dancefloor.
The Breakers never expected to love me again and I never believed we could get past our pain.
Yet here we are.
My Breakers are mine once more.
But nothing is ever that simple when it comes to us.
True happiness only comes when you’re free.
Free to love. Free to dance. Free to live.
But that kind of freedom comes at a high price.
The Breakers are still members of the Skins. Jeb is still their leader. David is still a psychopath, and now there are new enemies to contend with.
Dance might have brought us back together, but it’s going to take more than a beautiful routine to keep us all alive.
It’s time for the Breakers to own up to their truth, just like I did.
It’s time for the Breakers to live up to their name.
It’s time for the Breakers to start breaking things.

**Breakers is book three of this new gritty, contemporary reverse harem academy trilogy for 17+ readers and deals with adult themes and some subjects you may find upsetting. If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes, and the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you. Contains foul language and sexual scenes.**

I'm so disappointed and ANGRY, and I'm here to tell you why.

But first, please... just... gimme a minute, okay? I need to...

description

*This review may have spoilers, but I'll let you know.* And if you plan to read this book, I may not be your best motivator. But, hey, my opinion is not the rule, so...

Pen - When I started this series, one of my favorite things was the heroine, Pen. And the first thing - literally, in the FIRST SCENE - that really pissed me off in "Breakers" was Pen. She simply became a tantrum, passive heroine who revolves around the breakers. I'm so annoyed that I couldn't even take her seriously. I won't even mention the absurd amount of inner monologues about the unconditional and incomparable love she feels for the breakers - it was unbearable. In fact, Pen has become an unbearable character for me, which has gotten me too bothered to read.

description

Subplot - Hudson, Santiago, drug business, blah-blah-blah... Too uninteresting to take the space it has taken in the story, honestly. For me, there were several dialogues that were useless. What the hell is Pen doing in the middle of all this?

Inconsistencies - Does anyone else find it strange that the breakers find time to be gangsters, plot against the boss of the gangsters' boss, and still have classes or be teachers at the dance academy? Oh, let's not forget that, besides that, they are the owners of THE LARGEST, COOLEST, MORE EXPENSIVE, MOST POPULAR club in London, which is SECRET and offers Adele shows frequently. Freaking Adele! And yet, they still created a choreography to dance in Adele's show especially for Pen! Oh my God, did I mention that they also date Pen? How many hours does their day have? (wouldn't you like to know? I would.)

description

Moving on!

Clancy - The one-dimensional friend who only exists to say how enviable Pen's life is, drool over the guys (breakers) and say "let's go shopping". This kind of "friend" character annoyes me so much. She's just there to spin around Pen and tell her what is a reverse harem. *rolling my eyes* Clancy is that simpatic-whatever-friend.

And then we have the point that pissed me off the most during the reading:

PEN IS A GODDESS! -There isn't a person in this book who doesn't think Pen is the BEST. In everyone's eyes, she's amazing, flawless, the best dancer... "Oh, you're THE Pen? Wow!!" "I've heard about you, you're quite something" "Pen is a goddess, she's the best, the most beautiful, the..."

description

Um... ok, I have a question here... Um... WHAT THE F*** HAS SHE DONE TO BE SO AMAZING? Like... Yeah, she has attitude (or have had) and all, but, like...

description

GIVE ME HER ACTIONS! I want to read it, not hear about it... It feels that the author wants to convince us that Pen is badass only through the others' perspectives. I didn't like how some things were easily delivered to Pen, like the chance to dance for the Bird Set Free video - or something, I don't even remember, because ugh! I was almost done. Madame Tuillard indicated her because, again, she's the best. Tuillard didn't even let the other students have a chance. She told Pen to create a choreo for the video in one week and - BAM! - of course Pen did it amazingly, because she's the best. The best having inner monologues while dancing, too - but, fortunately, this book has less of it. I was growing tired of it. It's repetitive. So, basically, in "Breakers", Pen floats around them and have sex with them - at least, the hot scenes are well written and very hot indeed!

My problem with Dax - I love Dax, he's one of my favorites - next to the other 3 breakers. haha Yes, I love them all, they're very well built. BUT every time Dax calls Pen "Kid" he makes me uncomfortable. First, because he's only 1 year older than her. And second, because when it's his POV and he's narrating a sex scene, it gets weird to hell!!!

Kid slides her hand into mine, grinning as I placed her in the center of the semi-circle we've creatd just for her. Stepping back to stand beside York, the four of us watch her intently. [...] Kid looks at him [Xeno], grooving to the beat as she bites her lower lip. Electricity sparks between them, hitting me in the gut, but I'm not jealous of their attraction, I never have been. What we have is unique, special. These guys are my fucking brothers, and Kid is our soulmate.

Weird much? And I didn't even pick the spicy lines... Anyway, very distracting. Oh, and in the same chapter, we have pages and pages of him describing Pen's dance steps and his inner monologues about how amazing she is, how she's the best, how much he loves her... and on and on.

description

I'm honestly sad to say that I DNF'ed this book, at 68%. I felt bad because I convinced myself that I had to finish the book, since I had loved the first two. But I couldn't read because I started reading already stressed, impatient and unhappy, finding everything unbearable, angry and thinking "who wrote this book? It was the same author?".

I don't intend to continue the series, unfortunately. I don't want to grow a bad feeling for the breakers, because they are excellent characters. I really like each one of them. That's it. Thank you for reading this bittersweet review.

Oh, and one more thing...

Way to leave this book on a cliff hanger 🥲

“Hey, a gentleman never tells,” York calls out from the shower. “Though tonight I’m feeling far from gentlemanly. Want to see how ungentlemanly I’m feeling, Titch?” 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

And I will tear the fucking world apart to keep her safe - *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼

Breakers delivers the penultimate dance in the Academy of Stardom Series, and I have all the feelings! This series is just so special- truly, there is nothing like it- creative, innovative, emotionally intense, this is a series that has captivated from page one. These characters- their flaws and complicated dynamics- have gripped me. And now, oh now we finally get to see what we’ve been waiting for. We get to see these 5 broken souls somehow find a way back together while facing seemingly insurmountable emotional baggage and imminent danger. And what an emotional and sexy journey!

Like all her stories, her titles have meaning. It is no accident that Breakers is the title- this books about the crew identity, about the Breakers family. In dancing, a breaker squad is like one living organism. A bunch of individual dancers with their own strengths and roles who are united by one steady beat, a shared rhythm, and somehow (in good breaking at least) those individuals merge into one, with no one more or less important or more or less central. Moving as one, breathing as one- each dancer an extension of the other. THAT art, well that is what Bea replicates in this story. Lyrical set the stage- it was about an emotional catharsis, about the messy act of reconciliation, a story about the weight of healing. They started to confront their pain, confronting each other. And now, now in Breakers, these characters we love have to figure out what to DO with all those feelings, and how to grow together after so many years of growing apart. About finding the strength in their unity instead of the years of trying to find the strength to recover from their fractures. BREAKERS is about the unit, reforming their family, becoming ONE. Of course, our individual characters still grow, still confront past hurts and current insecurities, but the overarching arc of this story is about becoming the crew- figuratively, of course, but Bea has always so cleverly told their stories in dance. Their progress, their growth can always be tied to their artistic expression, so we also get to see them LITERALLY move as one, too. And it is total magic. In dance, but also in heart, crew that pulses to the same rhythm, the crew that beats as one.

But Breakers isn’t just about dancing, it is about the emotional center of this story. These characters are broken...and that is because they have been breakers themselves. Because they have broken each other- which in turn, has made them breakers of themselves. They’ve hurt each other, out of naivete, out of altruism, out of anger- a string of emotionally destructive decisions that have torn each other apart. But, they’ve grown and evolved. Once isolated, they were thrust back together, but they weren’t REALLY together. But Breakers changes all that, they’ve learned how to hurt each other, now they have to heal. As one. Bea shows us how sometimes we have to break in order to really be whole, to really SEE. And oh my, how Pen gets to see Xeno, Dax, York, and Zayn. Bea exposes them wholly- their fractures, their broken and gnarly bits. No more secrets, no more pretense- just five flawed, beautifully broken individuals who just want a universal human experience they’ve been denied- unconditional love, safety, and family. They all have sharp edges, made from the breaks they’ve given each other, but Bea so carefully and tenderly puts them back together. Our Breakers shrug their reps, their personas, open their hearts fully, so that they can finally heal together. So they can take the broken pieces of the wreckage of their pasts pains and piece them together into one beautiful mosaic. Different than before, but better, more beautiful, and STRONGER. Because combined, they are, in fact, unbreakable.

As always, Bea brilliantly matches tone and pace to her immersive character journeys- so we can truly immerse ourselves. While I know we are THIRSTY for the take down of the big and scary bad guys, Breaker is not the finale- this is setting the stage for it. The story has some action, but for the most part, our action keeps the focus on the true task at hand- bringing the harem together. Getting everything out in the open (oh yes, there is more to reveal), re establishing trust, and exposing the depth of their love so that they can learn to operate together again. And that is harder than it seems- because these characters have changed so much, and they are still changing. They are no longer the young adults in a basement experiencing first love- they’ve loved and lost, they’ve done horrible things to protect each other, they’ve experienced immense, character defining pain and sadness. Lyrical freed their emotional trauma and let us/them sit in it, Breakers is about them figuring out the path forward, redefining their individual relationships but most important defining the relationship they never actually truly had romantically- the harem. And Bea gives us this incredible gift tonally and with the pace. She really slows things down, she allows us to marvel at their new-found reconnection, and, GASP, let’s us soak up their happiness, their intimacy, the joy they have to be exploring what they thought was forever lost. Our story starts slow and sweet, Bea mutes the urgency some. Not what I was expecting, and at first I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. But, then I realized, THIS Is the very heart of this story. These 5 coming together- THAT is really its heart, and I love that Bea respects its magic, gives space for its beauty, and recognizes that dark, gritty danger aside, these moments are this story’s steady beat.

OF COURSE, that also means we get some SCORCHING heat. HOT MAMA, Bea has been holding out on us- and lord, she delivers. The chemistry here is just so delicious- a beautiful balance of emotional and physical intimacy. And throughout, a few of our characters get to shine- Xeno in particular gets some character growth moments here we’ve been anxiously awaiting, and they do not disappoint. Along the way, these characters have all had their own growth arcs, and I love how Bea has united their arcs now into the growth of them not as individuals but together. The power of the chemistry in Breakers, though, really comes from Bea removing the veil from these men. We see them fully, uninhibited and hearts on their sleeves, for the first time. Which means we also see and feel the depths of their love for Pen in a way we haven’t yet- and OH MY, it is beautiful and even more intense and meaningful than I had imagined.

GAH, I just love this series. And the writing! It is just so incredibly inventive- truly innovative and inspired, and hands down one of the most unique reading experiences I’ve ever had. These characters, their story, is so intimately connected to dance. I’ve marvelled at Bea’s capacity to merge music and movement with her imagery- the dance moments pulse off the page, with an emotive resonance that has astounded me in its artistry. But Breakers moved me further with a culminating artistic moment that left me sobbing- from it’s beauty, from its meaning, from its power. Pen and her guys began with dance, they’ve fought and battled and hurt through it, they’ve healed through it, and watching them unite and reform themselves behind it is perhaps one of my favorite literary moments ever. The story of the Breakers, in movement, moved me deeply. I felt it in my soul.

Of course, things won’t stay sunny for long. The plot has thickened, and even though our Breakers have found their way back into the safe embrace of each other, their enemies are still a volatile and unpredictable threat. A threat that painfully manifests in a heart-stopping ending that has me begging for Finale. But now, well now our Breakers are ready to truly face their foes, because they are finally one. A crew that is healing, a few that has evolved, a crew that is at long last open and honest and equal. But most importantly, a crew that is strong in their love for each other. At long last, they’ve found what they were always denied, and NONE of them are going to give that up- which means we are in for a jaw-dropping and dangerous final dance in FINALE. A reckoning is coming- and now that the Breakers are no longer breaking each other, they are ready to truly break their enemy.

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

Star Rating : 3/5 Stars

POV : Multiple

Cliffhanger : Yes

Hero : Multiple

Heroine : Penelope. She is the perfect Sassy Heroine who had enough patience and want to handle the Breakers and she was perfect for them!

Pace of the story : Very Slow

Angst Rating : 4/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Triggers Involved : Past Trauma

Plot Summary : The Breakers are back. After the Cliffhanger ending of the last book , Pen is now at odds with the breakers, especially with Xeno. Xeno was the one who always hated but wanted her too. When he realised that she left them to save them , their dynamic changes and it changed for the better part. But their relationship dynamic was not their only problem.

Now they do have a lot of new enemies and people who are after them. They are the ones who they need to watch out for. Let's see if they can overcome these battles or not.

Overall Opinion : I will admit that I liked the first two books of this series and was really looking forward to this one but I am so sad to admit that this book did not hold my interest at all. I don't know what was wrong with this book or was it just that I was distracted , but I couldn't complete this book and left it in between. Maybe someday I'll try to read it again but for now it just didn't hold my interest.

The reason why it didn't hold my interest was because nothing interesting was happening , it was too plain for me in the beginning and now I am too bored to continue it further. I am planning to leave this series here. I really loved the first two books of this series so I'll definitely read a few of the other series of this author because she does write some amazing books , but for this series , I am done.

Final Verdict :
Pace was very slow.
I have lost interest in this series.
Won't be continuing the series.
DNF for me .
The first two books were amazing , so I'll be checking out other books by this author but for this series , I am done.

Well it was ok, very meh to me. The beginning of the book I was very hard for me to get into and I got really bored. Most of the book was really cringe and I just couldn’t deal.

The book was not that bad. Like I liked some parts of it, but it was really cringe. Some parts even made me uncomfortable; an example would be when Dax calls Pen Kid. I actually really like Dax, but every time a sex scene came up and he called her kid, it just, *bad shudders*. Also, he’s only a year older than her, like why?

Anyways, moving on Pen annoyed me most of this book and made me cringe real bad. Every freaking minute she was talking about the breakers, and, her love for them, and blah blah blah. Sincerely I got bored, then the book picked up, but then it made me cringe yet again and I got bored.

I’m not lying to you when I say I fell asleep on their last sex scene (when they’re all together). I freaking fell asleep. I wasn’t even tired and I just plop jeje.

Welp some things I liked from this book were: Grim, Beast, Clancy (sometimes), River, York + Dax = ❤️.

Let me tell you idc if York and Dax don’t happen. They’re together in my mind and they’re bi af. Idc if the author doesn’t explore this between them (I personally feel a connection or maybe it’s just my raging gay ass, who wants more lgbt characters. Who knows?), because in my head Dax's deep throating more than York’s fingers. 😉 If you know, you know.

Btw I also feel weird about the breakers being gangsters. It just still doesn’t click with me, but wtv.

Overall I didn’t hate it, but it was hard to get through. I can’t get over some scenes that get me cringe. I still get the bad shudders. Anyways, toodles!

Another jam-packed edition, a lot was going on here and this one was a roller coaster of a read. This was the hottest yet and all of the Breakers are now back on board and fully committed to protecting their girl. This one also had a lot of danger and some violence that Pen is now fully exposed to, opening her eyes to the world her men now inhabit and it's something she has to come to terms with. This finished on another dramatic finish and things are starting to escalate now so it will be interesting to see where this goes next. As expected this was another well-written rivetting read

DNF @17%

I know 17% is not much, but hear me out. I was already struggling by the end of book 2 and only really kept going because of the cliffhanger.

At this point in the story there was no character I was rooting for or that I was interested in reading. Pen has lost her edge, to me, she is no longer coming off as strong. Her whole character revolves around the guys, how much she missed them, loves them. I would say it got annoyingly sappy, especially considering that nothing major has happened between them since they got back to deserve such declarations of love.

But the main issue is that this book seems to follow in the same line as the previous one with pages upon pages of inner thoughts, unending descriptions with little to no dialogue and even less progress to the story.

Needles is to say I am off this train.

Breakers by Bea Paige. I did it. I tried to take breaks and look the other way while reading this beautiful creation, but I. Just. Couldn't. Pen and her Breakers had me feeling things on every end of the emotional spectrum.

I'll be 100% honest, I wouldn't consider this a "filler" story in a series to make a series longer, but I will say this book was more relationship focused while slowly progressing the plot for the final book in the series, which I know will be explosive! And it worked so well! I've read series where there's a book that seems almost pointless. This is NOT one of those. We needed to see the deep connection between Pen, Zayn, York, Dax, and Xeno. I am SO GLAD Bea Paige took this route and decided to add an additional book instead of shortening the growth of these complicated AF relationships. Because it was so good.

SO DAMN. GOOD.

I almost have no words. This book was beautifully written with a colorful depth of emotions portrayed through descriptive dance scenes. That plays such a big part in this series and it's so poetic! Love that aspect. And the sexy times? Y'all. Damn. 🔥🔥🔥

As for the plot Xeno killed me over and over. That boy was so damaged. York was still his goofy, optimistic self. Zayn was the steadfast conscience. And Dax was the rock, the glue that held it all together. The way each man described Pen (in their POVs) was both romantic as shit and sexy as hell. They love her SO much and that is why we needed this book.

When Finale comes out, we have the RH bond fully intact and we LOVE this group. That means the final book will be jammed with all the plot twists and scenes that will easily push this series to one of my favorites of all time. The anticipation and thrill of the series climax we will see in the final book is almost overwhelming for me lol

So, I seem to have a pattern when it comes to Bea Paige's books. I love the first two books in the series but the third one is just not it.

The first two books is where all the things are setting up everything slowly builds up, tensions raise. We are meeting the characters and everything is fresh. But after that period is over we are left with the desert named 'Plotline'. This is where tension is at the peak and nothing is surprising anymore, characters are already established and all we need is an exciting plotline...but it's not there. Again Bea Paige is diving into her weak built gang world where nothing has a system and fairy godmothers exists and they save the day. Villains are weak and the only villain that was 'somehow' built up is suddenly zeroed and we have a new one we know noothing about and the old one that is annoying. Every possible good turn in the story has been cut off with few poor choices and we ended up with the same thing as in Misfits where villain is there just to be there and no other particular reason.

Also, maybe I am the only one, but the dance scenes made me feel awkward. There are a lot of big words about forgiveness and there are a lot of feelings analysis...but little action or quality dialogue. I am a bit disappointed because I think Bea Paige is a decent writer but her plotlines are always a flop for me.

I’m so glad the group is together and getting along. However I didn’t really like how in this book Pen really starts whining and she just doesn’t act like she has been acting in the first two books. Also how in the world do these people have time to be in the academy, do gang business, spend time with each other and run clubs??? There’s isn’t enough time in the day. Other than that I still love this book and this series! I love seeing characters that are from her other books and I really want to read their stories now! Can’t wait to see what happens in this last book!

I can’t wait for the Finale

When I started this series, I was intrigued and super pumped for a dance academy reverse harem. But as I just finished book three, I realized this book is about far more than dance.. it’s about family and making the people who call you family accountable to more than themselves.. how as in dance a family must move as one and how appropriate that this book was named Breaker.
Often when I read, songs I can relate to the story come to mind. This book it was on a repeat song that took over and like Author Bea Paiges words I let it and this story consume me.. Pens family is a mix and match of some incredible characters but there is no room for any more secrets.. how do you forgive all the hurts? Easy enough if the love you have for them consumes you..this book is sexy and full on bloody.. it is dangerous and my heart pumped twice as hard through it. From that deathly cliffhanger to the last chapter of book three.. I felt so much pain, because there’s beauty in pain and that’s what this book was to me. It is beautiful to watch these childhood friends reclaim their love and fight for forever,, throughout this series they have fought against everything and everyone including themselves. Reading how the guys and Penn work through their darkness and fight their own monsters was a thing of beauty... yeah there are a ton of heating sexual scenes but there’s also so much love..
I would be interested in reading Grimm and Beasts stories as well as Hudson’s .. I can’t wait to see how it all ends for Penn and her men.. I know it will be as epic as the beginning.. I loved it.. can you guess the song I let consume me?

First and foremost I encourage you, when you read to listen to the playlist at the beginning of the book as you do. It just takes the story to a whole new level and the experience is unbelievable.
.
Vivid imagery and storytelling from Bea. I absolutely love this series. It’s been a ride thus far and I’m so glad it’s not over yet. This one definitely blew me away emotionally and mentally. Definitely some revelations we all wanted and needed. Some shocking moments and just an overall engaging and enthralling read.
.
I love the character development in this book. Each of the characters have had to learn and grow in so many different ways. I’m so glad we got more of an in depth look at Xeno for this book. There’s just so much to unpack from what we have learnt in this book about him and I don’t even know where to start. He’s an amazing character and his growth in this book was amazing. He’s definitely a favourite for me but he’s a close second to Dax, sorry to say.
.
The anticipation was raised in this book. We started with a bang and we certainly ended with one also. The story has so many layers and is unpredictable and I love it. The dark, gritty sometimes sinister just gives me everything I love in a dark romance. And the spice, don’t even get me started!! This world is incredible and with every book the dances get clearer and clearer. I’ve never wished for a book to be real until now. I’d give anything to see the characters dance in person that’s how amazingly written this story is. Even though it’s easy to picture and the books transports you, you also can’t help but want to drown in it also. The power behind a lot of the scenes floored me and I cannot get enough of this book.
.
Amazing work Bea, your a knockout writer and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for book 4.

This series is phenomenal!!

Just as you think it can’t get any better Bea Paige says hold my beer and plunges you back into the gang world of the Breakers.

Normally with a RH book I fall hard for one of the guys. Since the start of this series I have fallen head over heals for all four of the boys. York, Dax, Zayn and Xeno have stolen my heart and blown me away with not just their relationships with Pen but their connections, whether through dance, body language or declarations.

Xeno floored me in this book. The bad boy with the broken heart who doesn’t deem himself worthy and doesn’t know how to love. He broke my heart!

Pen is the stand out for me in this series though. The amount of stuff she’s been through and the hand she’s been dealt, that girl should be on her knees. But she keeps fighting back and she is 100% my girl crush.

If you love movies like Step Up and Save The Last Dance then you NEED to read this series!

2020 hasn’t been kind to us all and reading has become a escape from reality still in 2021
Paige has only gone from strength to strength with her writing. This world is crazy is understatement and this book shows everything.
There is a lot I would like to say with other words if you get my meaning but I can’t.

The boys really up their game in this book and leave you spellbound. They really show their true selves and you will fall in love with them all over again.
They surprised me and with good reason and I hope that this isn’t the last of the surprises. I can’t wait for finale as Breakers did a number on me

BEA PAIGE”S BEST BOOK YET!!!!!

Have you ever had a book that hits your right in the gut and gives you all the feelings, this book was it for me. Bea Paige has a way with taking your heart, stomping on it and bringing it back to life. The emotions written through this story are on a deep level and you can help but get immersed in the life of the Breakers. These boys feel deep, love deep and live deep and it just flies off the pages.

These boys are heart breakers you cannot help but fall in love with them with and without their damage showing. We finally get to get deep into these boys and start to figure out how they became the way they are. Pen is one in a million, the five of them need each other to survive and they hold on tight to the threads that bind them.

What would you do to save the ones you love?

This book is the perfect set up for Finale which will be the finale book in this series. If you haven’t picked up this series it's time to do so. You don't want to miss what happens next.

I just can't anymore. Pen is beyond unlikeable, she's impulsive and too stupid to live. I had enough issues getting through the last one, and I thought this would be better. It has its moments, but I simply cannot stand Pen. She seriously cannot keep her mouth shut, she acts like she knows better than everyone else, and she's supposed to be street smart, but she cannot possibly be street smart and that naive. It's exhausting to read this from her POV. I like the MMCs well enough, but the story is just dragging on. I just cannot go any further.

I just wrote a series review and copied it to book 2 too 5.

BASIC FACTS: Academy of Stardom, 5 books finished series
Titles & no. of Pages:
1. Freestyle 362 pages
2. Lyrical 398 pages
3. Breakeres 434 pages
4. Finale 444 pages
5. Encore 324 pages
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Dance Academy, organized crime (Gangs)
Theme: From the gutter to the stars
Protagonist Ages: not sure, but I think around 20
Pacing: Plot: medium Relationship: slow burn
Plot Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I recommend the series, if you like dance, Gangs and enemies to lovers with bullying. I got it recommended myself by my gr friend Gaby (we miss you!). It was on my tbr because the series wasn’t finished at that time. I decided to throw it on my clear your tbr list, for a challenge. After starting Freestyle I was hooked. Because this series reminded me a little of Hanaford Prep and crossed with The Hights Crew. The story was simple but had a good pace and a lot of unexpected turns.

I love Pen and her guys. my favorite Guy is Beast, who likes Pen and he looks after her, when she is working in the club. I like Grim, because she becomes Pen’s alley when Pen needed her. And later she is Pen’s friend.

Fun Fact: Bea wrote a Their Obsession Series and a Series about the Deana-dhe (which means Butterflys). And they are either mentioned or have a cameo. There is also a Series called the Freed Brothers, which play a role in this book too.

Back to the series: Recently the book Encore was published. The fifth book of Academy of Stardom is kind of a cross over and play five years after Finale. It was nice to see how Pen’s family grew. We had a lot of smut and dance. Saw the Why choose and other couples again. But for me this was the weakest book and it’s the only one which got 3 stars rating from me. I read it, skipped a lot and read some more. But if you wouldn’t read it, the series could have finished after book 4.

I partly read the books and partly listend to the audiobook. I liked both. Lately I enjoy audiobooks a lot. I binged the series and had a great time.

Characters and Summery: spoilers ahead!!!

This series is absolutely incredible and I’m so glad that Bea Paige has decided to give us 4 books instead of the 3 that were originally planned. ⁣
Oftentimes with Reverse Harem stories, I always feel a stronger connection to just one of the guys, but that’s not the case here. I love Xeno, York, Zayn and Dax equally, and I adore how much they love Pen and how she loves them in return. ⁣

This story has it all; drama, suspense and steam, but also the most beautifully written dance sequences which are made even better (if that’s possible) by the playlist that runs alongside. ⁣

As sad as I’ll be when it’s all over, I cannot wait for 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐄 to find out if Pen and her Breakers finally get the happy ever after they all deserve. ⁣

Have you read Freestyle and Lyrical?? Well I highly recommend you read these before reading this gem- Breakers.

Pen and her boys- Zayn, York, Dax and Xeno are brilliant. In all honesty I couldn’t pick my favourite out of her boys.

I loved the previous books and I didn’t think I could love the characters/storyline anymore but this author blew me away with her writing skill. Can’t wait for more!!

Absolutely Phenomenal!
I can't even begin to describe how amazing this book is, I was sucked in right from the beginning and barely put it down from start to finish.

Pen and her boys are really coming into their own. I loved seeing York's humour, Dax's protectiveness, Zayn's strength and Xeno's emotions it really puts the boys motives and determination into perspective and makes me fall in love with them even more ❤

The storyline really heats up in Breakers and the dance scenes are written so vivdly and heartfelt thay you can see each move in your head and feel each emotion in your chest.

Bea paige has such a beautiful way with words, the emotion she puts into her writing shines through when you read each page.

If you haven't started The academy of stardom series yet then you are seriously missing out! Book 1 and 2 are available now on amazon for free in KU.

If i don't immediately learn how to dance and fall in love with 4 incredible men then my life is simply wasted. I LOVE these books and i think everyone can agree that David just needs to die.

Amazing books and begining the last one this very second ❤

Really didn’t enjoy this one. Nothing happens and the writing is still really over the top.

I’m giving this 3.75 stars. I was getting a little bored midway and was struggling to get into the story. I still like the plot and the characters (for the most part) but this wasn’t as good to me as the first two.

I will say I liked how Pen reacted to seeing the violent side of the guys. Mostly, the love interest will match their energy and be just as bloodthirsty but I loved seeing her struggle with it. It’s such a normal reaction and I’ve seen a lot of people disliked this reaction but I found it refreshing and enjoyable to read.

I skimmed the dancing scenes, there’s so many and they’re so long. I feel like I can’t complain too much about it though as it is a dance book but I don’t know enough about dance for it to hold my attention. I feel like not a lot happened in this one so I wasn’t loving it. Plus, there’s so many cameos of characters from other books. It’s like every two second we’re discussing a group from another series that it feels like too many side characters.

I’m going to read the last one because I’m still very intrigued. I just am seeing my love fizzle out a little but I hope that changes with the last book.

One enemy down, one to go. Somewhere along the way I got invested in this insane angst fest and I’m ready for a HEA. Even better would be an actual escape for Pen, her men and her sister. The gang is in shambles but that won’t make leaving any easier, it never is. Everything is coming to a head and I’m guessing there’s a huge bloody battle or multiples on the way. In the end it’s pretty clear they need to get their heads out of their asses and go into battle mode. There’s another cliffy but it’s not nearly as bad as some of the previous books were. With an enemy making moves perhaps they’ll find a little less time to do the deed because it did feel a little overwhelming in this book like they’re all in the honeymoon phase. Real life’s come a knocking and she’s brought a slew of new issues for them all. Everyone also missed quite a lot of school in this book but still managed to dance their asses off usually as a form of foreplay for them. Don’t think they’ve even been there a full semester so I’m kinda curious how far they’ll make it before they can become boring everyday students.
