This is an outstanding debut novel! In the fictional town of Fulton Hills, strange happenings are afoot. A young girl is haunted in her new house, but the investigator trying to clear the space of evil, herself has a not-so-great history with the mother. Will a family's reputation be pulled irrevocably into darkness, or will the shadows be cleared before it's too late? An entertaining read for anyone who enjoys paranormal, supernatural, dark and mysterious stories.
This book was just what the doctor ordered. And as a fan of the show Supernatural I truly related to the character River. Dark but not super grim dark with a side of angst. The right balance of horror, comedy and the lives of real people.
This was such a great read! The characters are complex, the plot and subplots are masterfully woven together, the world building and storytelling are strong, and the setting is intriguing. It's creepy without gore, compelling relationships without a romance focus, has some great twists but doesn't leave you hanging at the end. I can't wait to see where we go next in Fulton Hills!
This was such a fun, creepy, and emotionally satisfying read. It kept me up way past my bedtime! This is the story of a young girl named River, her mom Tracie, and her mom's old friend/nemesis Charlie and how they must work together to figure out what is haunting River before it is too late. Each character was so well written that although they were completely distinct from each other, I still bonded and empathized with their separate points of view. I felt the urgency and fear of the characters as though it were my own. The story was great and set in an original town that is just a little bit different than the rest of the world. I can't wait to read more about this world and these characters!
This story was a tight weaved tale with multiple povs where the characters came to life as you dived into it. The start feels a little too like the author is going to tell the story instead of showing it to us through the characters but that is mainly because of all the character introductions. Get past that start and it’s interesting, suspenseful and has a very nice weaving of plot and character relationships.
Lost a star because of the intro feeling a little rough combined with a some spelling errors I spotted—though I’ve seen many publisher published stories with worse errors.
It didn’t take long to be sucked into this story. Worth the time and money spent on this. I’m looking forward to more.
This was such a great red and I enjoyed every moment reading ”Sister.” The character development and storyline was highly relatable. Since I’m getting back in the habit of reading, I truly appreciated being able to pick up this book and get lost in the story. Can’t wait for book two!
I've been waiting for this book for a long time, and it did not disappoint! I know Fulton Hills has a lot more secrets to unpack, and I can't wait to read more.
Fulton Hills could be Anywhere USA. The adults go to work, raise their kids, and deal with their issues (or not). Kids go to school, dodge parents, and hang out with their besties. But people have their secrets. And in Fulton Hills secrets get weird fast. Tracie Gavin’s Instagram life is about to be shattered when her daughter stumbles into the middle of a mystery the town has tried hard to forget. Worse, the only person who can help her and daughter find a way out has every reason not to care. Galardo tells a very spooky story that kept me turning the pages well into the night. Better yet, the author has a keen eye for character, for how friendships can break and how they can heal, and for the ways that cruelty can reverberate across generations.
