Build Spelling Confidence.Amazon review 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book to Help Kids take Spelling Seriously"I loved how this book teaches kids that spelling is super important, and to work to find the answers independently. It’s also a fun way for them then to learn spelling rather than seeing it as a annoyingly required task given by teachers or parents." From beloved children's book author Gentleman Jim comes a clever tale to help kids build self-confidence in spelling skills and using the dictionary.Edgar has to write a short story for homework, and spelling counts! His first draft has too many spelling errors though. How can he correct so many errors and finish with his homework before dinner? Well, with a big imagination and his very first dictionary, Edgar will surely find a way!Builds self-esteem and confidence!

I've been writing for a long time. Though, only since 2015 have I been able to organize and focus myself to actually produce books. Most of my work is quite simple, but I don't mind. Maybe someday I'll attempt a more ambitious project, but for now, I'm quite content where I am. I hope you enjoy.

A fun and fresh take on the importance of spelling a well as trying to do things for yourself first. Cute illustrations that help make the story even more exciting for children to read. Great book for caregivers and kids to read together, or for use in a classroom.

I love the techniques author used to make spelling fun. I like the illustrations and the concept of the book. Also, the fact that parents encourage child to explore the spelling through dictionary and not giving him answers straight away. That engages child much more and helps to remember it better. All done with great love and support. I would recommend it.

Learning to spell can be fun! A book for preschoolers and kindergarteners, which will show them it is much easier to accumulate knowledge when working as a team. Lovely illustrations from Svetlana Klakina bring the story to life.

Storyline:

In this fun book, young readers can follow the story of Edgar, who learns to correct his vocabulary and spelling assignments with the help of elves. His imagination takes him into a genuine adventure, with the team of helpers springing into action when he needs it the most.

My thoughts:

Another wonderful creation of Gentleman Jim! I found this book to be exciting, helping young readers learn all about spelling and how fun it can be. Like in his other books, the author has made an effort to offer additional lessons: teamwork does wonders, and using the dictionary can help you become self-reliant. The activity pages at the end of the book were a nice addition, perfect for our little ones who are just discovering the world of letters.

It was interesting to see a book in which kids are encouraged to solve problems by themselves. While diving into the story, I also got the impression the author was trying to prove spelling can be more than a task the teacher or parent has imposed. It can be turned into a delightful game, and this has definitely put a smile on my face.

Verdict:

A book that is perfect for young readers. Rich and colorful illustrations make the whole adventure even more exciting. You can read it together with your child or allow him/her to try it on their own. I found the concept of the book to be really originally, as well as engaging and entertaining. Ultimate message the book tries to send: believe in yourself! And, yes, spelling can be fun!

Spelf Check is the delightful story for young school-age children about a young boy and his struggles with the writing process. It specifically focuses on spelling and the use of a dictionary. It encourages independence and encouragement as young children work through editing spelling in their writing. The colors are bright and appeal to the story's audience. There is a wonderful little exercise at the end. This story book can be used by parents as well as educators to encourage writing.
