My first E.M. Lacey book and I enjoyed it. A lot of characters with "A" first names which was a bit confusing - Alba, Alex and Abigail - but having visible Afro-Latina rep is a definite plus. Also the use of Aztec mythology makes this stand out even more. Definitely plan to check out more from this author.

Fun novella with good bones. Interesting premise. Glad to see diverse, non-token characters. BUT: Needs more editing to eliminate run-on sentences, clarify character descriptions, clean up repetitive, banal dialogue & eliminate messy, inadvertent switches between past & present verb tenses within paragraphs.

I think this is the first in a series, and there were lots of characters and the viewpoint shifted with nearly every chapter, which to me made it a little hard to follow and slightly more than a little hard to get truly invested in. It seems like there's more to the story of Alex and Alba, who are clients of the titular lawfirm, but since the books follow the lawfirm, I'm not sure they show up in the next story? I did like the diversity...there's definitely not enough representation in Urban Fantasy, and this was very nice to see. I liked the Aztec mythology as well. Not sure if I'll read the next one though. I'm more invested in the client characters than the lawfirm characters at this point.

I like this mystery.

It was a child memory that take me back to my Nancy drew days. That led to the Ms. Agatha christie. Who I still love today! My favor is ten little Indians. I love how I kept trying to guess who did it an not skip an read for you if you skip you miss key details that you need in the story. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. Urban Horror

Good. I was surprised to find it more of a horror than urban fantasy but the writing was so good, i couldnt stop reading.

Very Fun

Wish it was longer. I don’t really feel like I know the law firm to well. Even still enjoyable short romp!!
