Thrust into the role of a debutante, Mia Delphine Morgan, a pre-school teacher from Kentucky, must sink or swim among Manhattan’s elite. She’s not trained or refined for New York, Paris, or London high society, but the good she can do with a sizeable inheritance from her estranged Aunt Sylvia, propels her toward keeping her feet firmly planted on the ground—even though poise and polish aren’t exactly her thing.

Clayton James Bridgewater, III, is the fourth generation heir to a retail empire built from the ground up—one that exploded into success during the Great Depression Era when other industries were failing and floundering. When a secret from the past and family aspirations presented as obligations threaten to coerce him into a marriage of convenience, will he be forced to walk away from his rightful legacy to pursue his faith and obedience to Yeshua in order to have his true love at his side?

I enjoyed this story. It was a romance theme that I’d not read before. I liked the characters and the tension in the story. And it was as a fun story to read, but one that clearly shows the work of God in a life.

Oh, wow, I loved this book!! It reminded me of Jen Turano's book, Behind the Scenes: Apart From the Crowd Book 1. This book has some funny scenes that had me laughing, and some that I wanted to punch someone in! Set in current times, Mia's definitely not lived the life of an heiress, she's down-to-earth and fun-loving. When she's introduced to high society, Clayton is there to help her. He was intrigued by her when they first met, and as they get to know each other, he knows she's the one God has for him. Clayton's mother and oldest sister are such snobs, and are not very nice to Mia. I love the way Lisa has things come together!

I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

This story is about Mia and Clayton and how they met and started dating. They are from different backgrounds and Clay's parents aren't really enthusiastic about the match, but those things are worked out. The story has a little bit of everything and it is very well written. Ms Prysock is so good with developing her characters and also the locations where the story takes place. She really does her homework to get everything right. And, as always, her faith shines through in the characters. That's what I really love about her books. I highly recommend this book and think you will enjoy it if you like Christian romance.

Opposites attract certainly applies in this delightful romance by Lisa Prysock. Ms. Prysock’s description of scenery, stunning ball gowns and wonderful events puts the reader into the midst of the story. Readers will fall in love with the main characters of Mia, whose antics always seem to get her in trouble, and Clay, who is dashingly handsome and adores everything about Mia. This is one book you will enjoy reading more than once!

Mia Morgan was just your average country girl from Kentucky until she visits with her Aunt Sylvia in New York and is set to inherit billions from her. Mia's life becomes a whirlwind of debutante balls and etiquette lessons. Clayton Bridgewater III is a rich billionaire businessman and meets Mia at the airport on the way to her Aunts house. Such a sweet romance, you won't want to put it down!

Wonderful story of repentance, forgiveness, second chances, obedience to God and grace. Mia and Clay come from two different backgrounds, but sweetly fall in love and follow their hearts and God. Excellent secondary characters also.

Mia and Clayton's story was so good! It's well written and has just the right amount of drama to keep you turning the pages. There was never a dull moment is this book, you never knew what Mia was going to do next. I loved the bible verse at the beginning of each chapter and the discussion questions at the end. This book would be a wonderful book club read. It was a joy to read.

The story was good. I enjoyed the premise, and liked the characters. There were good character arcs for all the main characters and some of the side characters.

Unfortunately, I struggled with the author's writing style. There was frequent duplication of information as if the author didn't think her readers could understand it the first time. The paragraphs were wordy and difficult to follow, and many sentences were fragments that didn't make sense.

Lastly, the main character's father is said to be an evangelical pastor, but he attends Christmas Eve service at a Catholic mass. To me this seemed not only highly unlikely, but disturbing. Then when they arrive home from Christmas Eve service there is no mention of the father reading the Bible or praying, he only wants to open presents and watch Christmas movies. I would hope a pastor would be more focused on the Lord. It was a minor thing, but to me it disrupted the flow of the book.

This is a wonderful story with great characters and well developed plot line. Mia is a farm girl fom Kentucky who goes to New York to spend a year with her Aunt Sylvia who is going to leave her money to Mia. Clayton is the son of a billionare and helps his father run the family business. Mia and Clayton meet at the airport after an unfortunate action on Mia's part. Sylvia wants to smooth out Mia's rough edges and teach her how to handle a large sum of money. Clayton loves her inspite of her rough edges. And, his mother and oldest sister reject her for the same. This a really wonderful story of two people from very different backgrounds learning to love each other

When We Dance

This is an enjoyable Christian romance. Mia is a country girl who has moved from Kentucky to New York. Her Aunt is preparing her to inherit a legacy left behind by her husband since she has no children for a direct inheritance. Clayton (Clay) and Mia meet at the airport. He offers her a ride and they become acquainted. Then they become paired at one of the two debutant balls. You can read how they become close and all of the trials they face in their effort to get to know each other. It is a delightful quick read.

Fantastic story! I really liked the characters and felt this would make a perfect Hallmark movie. I was pulled in from the first page and entranced until the very end. There is so much to love about this story including the sweet clean romance that is magical. I really hated for this book to end, all the beautiful places and homes will take you on a wonderful journey!

Great characters that will keep your interest extremely well. They were quirky, with a magnetic chemistry & are unapologetic in their beliefs. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

Joanne Joyce does an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. She does more than giving their characters their voices, she falls into the roles and becomes the characters.

Listening to When We Dance was a joy. A little different story than the author usually writes, but still holds true to her inspirational books. Mia is just a pre school teacher, but about to come into an inheritance. She is not ready to be around the upper class. She meets Clayton, who is from an elite family. Will they be able to rise above the naysayers and find true love. Lovely story
I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

4 1/2 stars very good book to start this series with. Nice developed characters you soon come to like (or dislike). Each chapter starts with a scripture from the Bible that corresponds with what’s within that chapter. You won’t waste your time reading this

I enjoyed Lisa’s approach to a the idea that everyone has troubles. While money makes the world go round, it doesn’t always make family any easier. Easy read with a romantic take on the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

This story was well written and kept my attention from the beginning. Mia never expected her aunt to leave everything to her in her will nor all that entails. I loved the way the story unfolded and being able to enjoy these characters.

Money or love? Is it a tough choice?

Great story of growing, learning, trusting God and finding yourself. Loving someone who isn't what others want for you is always stressful, trusting God with your heart should be easy.

Mia & Clayton

This was a fun story to read, not at all like I thought it would be. A lot of the explanations didn't feel necessary, but were a good insight to be aware of. I enjoyed getting to know both Mia and Clayton and both of their families, and their love for dancing.

Ok

Ok read. Seems like half the book was descriptors of interior decor or clothing. Author created a sweet story but almost hid it beneath page upon page of detailed descriptions of her fantasy homes and the heroine's clothing.

Sweet story of a country girl and a multi-billionaire. Can two opposites make a life together? Especially with constant friction and interference from his family?
