She sees the future. He reads the past. The present could kill them both.
Knowing how things will end before they even begin is a curse New Orleans tour guide Sydney Park has endured since she was a child. Her premonitions make surprises few and far between, and dating…
What's the point?
Reading the past in objects has caused more trouble for Blake Beaumont than he cares to admit. Opening the Museum of the Macabre is his last attempt at using his ability and his college degree to make a living.
But the artifacts he's acquired have haunting attachments that could put everyone's lives in danger.
When Blake joins forces with Sydney's tour company, he jumps at the chance to rekindle his relationship with her. She can’t help but fall for him all over again, until an ominous vision of a closed-casket funeral stops her cold.
Someone she loves is going to die.
If Sydney and Blake can't unravel the mystery, their haunted pasts will eclipse any chance of a future.
USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Pulkinen has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.
Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves red wine and chocolate, and in her free time, she likes to read, take pictures, and spend time with her family.
Sydney Park has endured her curse of knowing how things will end before they even begin since she was a child which wreaks havoc with her dating life. Blake Beaumont’s ability of reading the past in objects has caused more trouble than he cares to admit. While opening the Museum of the Macabre, he joins forces with Sydney’s tour company and he can’t help but jump at the chance to rekindle their relationship. When Sydney has a vision of a closed casket funeral, she knows someone she loves is going to die. And if they can’t unravel the mystery, their haunted pasts will eclipse any chance of a future.
Be prepared for some chills, heart pounding suspense and a haunting mystery during this exhilarating romance. The characters are strong and demand attention from the readers as they race against time to stop Sydney’s vision from coming true. The chemistry between Sydney and Blake is enough to light up Bourbon Street but this relationship has a past and it didn’t end on a great note, so the story is full of emotional turmoil from the relationship and from their respective gifts that cause their lives quite a bit of trouble.
The plot of this story is fast paced and readers can’t help but become carried away with all the knuckle biting suspense that constantly builds throughout this thrilling story. It just keeps building and building and building…(oops wrong rabbit!!!). Mardi Gras is a perfect setting for this story which adds spice and the Ghost Tours in New Orleans makes a fabulous connection to haunting mystery. The story is full of twists and turns and readers can’t take their eyes from the pages because there is no way to know who the bad guy is or if there even is one.
Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 2) By: Carrie Pulkinen 5 out of 5 stars
The story Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 2) by Carrie Pulkiene is the next amazing story is a wonderful series. First off, I love books that are based in New Orleans. The city has a mystery and charm about it that I have not found in other locations. I also loved the storyline and the characters. Sydney Park and Blake Beaumont are wonderful to read about. The story has Blake joining forces with a tour company and Sydney. Not only does he want to join as a partner, but he also sees a chance to restart the relationship that he has with her. The story is full of mystery and has an atmosphere that takes you in the world of the unknown. What will happen when situations happen that could cause danger to both Sydney, Blake, and those around them? Will Blake and Sydney rekindle their relationship? What does the future hold for Blake, Sydney and the tour company? Read this book to find out. The story has emotional moments and my emotions went up and down with the characters. I grew to care about Sydney and Blake and wanted them to be happy. There are additional characters that interact with Sydney and Blake which I enjoyed reading about. This is a book that came to an end far too soon. I look forward to the next one in the series. I highly recommend this book and series.
Love & Omens is the second book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series. It can be read as a standalone, but I think the best enjoyment would come after reading the first book. You’ll get a better feel for the characters from the first book that are mentioned in this one. Plus, the first book was awesome!
Dealing with a psychic gift can be tricky. Syd makes a judgment call but it turns out to be a big mistake. When she gets a second chance at making it right, will she take it? I love second chance stories because it brings up a feeling of hope.
As always, I love this author’s ability to paint vivid pictures and develop intriguing characters. I also loved the use of psychometry in this story. It isn’t a gift a lot of authors write about when choosing the powers their character has.
I hope there are more books planned for this series!
Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance story that is a quick but enjoyable read. I would read the first book in this series before this one as it will give you background information on some of the characters. I really enjoyed the first one but this one was even better. Being able to see the future is not all it is cracked up to be and trying to decipher what the visions mean can almost make you go mad. Throw that in with an ex who is back on the scene, one you never stopped loving, a crazy stalker and a wronged husband and you are in for a wild journey as Carrie weaves it all together to make a very vivid tale. I also enjoy that we get to learn more of the wonderful characters that make up the team.
Love and Omens by Carrie Pulkinen a spellbinding five-star read, this is number two in the Cresent City Ghost Tour series and this continues to show us what a great series it is. It could be read as stand-alone, but it is best read as part of the series in my eyes as you build on the world and get to see the follow on for Emily and Sean, but they aren’t the main attraction in this one, that goes to Blake and Syd they steal the show in this instalment. This series really does drag you in, giving you the mystery and romance that makes a great story. The fact that Blake and Syd have a past just added an extra layer to the story, the chemistry alone is worthy of a massive reaction. Throw in haunting emotions and Madi Gras and you have a winner.
This is a fab read! A well written paranormal romance and the second in this series! I loved the first book and this second book was every bit as good if not better! Hooking me from the very start there is action, adventure, mystery, drama, danger, visions, omens and ghosts! And I Love Sydney and Blake and their chemistry and their story!
LOVE & OMENS is the second book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series and features Sydney, who has visions of the future, and Blake, who can read the past from objects. These two were together eight years ago but Sydney had a vision and broke it off with him before the vision could come to pass. Eight years later and they are back in the same town, working together, and trying to figure out just what went wrong.
This was a fantastic read. There is plenty of action with strange goings on in the middle of the night, ghost activity, and a rival Krewe, not forgetting a rekindled love story. I would have preferred to have read book one if only to have known the characters better but you could still read this one as a standalone.
The pacing is smooth and the characters are all fully developed. There are red herrings aplenty with the mystery to keep you on your toes.
A great addition to the series and definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *
Fully fleshed out and much deeper than the first. Characters a lot less wooden, dialogue improved.
Ms Pulkinen writes better comedy though.
Sydney works for/with Sean who's handed her responsibility for a project merging his tour business with a museum because Emily is about to give birth. (Why would you organise it for then?) That means Sydney has to deal with her past break up by text with Blake.
This triggers another round of visions which she can't quite work out beyond the fact that someone is going to die. Blake also has a paranormal power, reading the residual memories of artifacts, they are going to have to work together using their skills to work out the truth about the prediction.
Unfortunately it does become obvious who it is causing the problems quite early on so the denouement isn't quite as impactful as expected.
New Orleans is the perfect setting for this book. Just the right cool and spooky vibes!
I liked Sydney as our protagonist a lot! And while I feel the romance between her and Blake was a bit rushed, I enjoyed them as a couple.
I found the antagonist(s) reveal to be both a bit predictable AND coming out of left field. (If you’ve read the book you’ll know the 2 I’m talking about) and the spooky factor wasn’t as scary as the first book…the ghosts just weren’t as present. Which I get was probably a distinct choice…I just wanted more ghostly encounters!
Overall I liked it better than the first book and will be continuing with the series
Sydney dumped Blake by text eight years ago after a premonition told her he was leaving. A new business venture bring them back together. Old feelings and attraction reunite but their second try at love has lots of bumps and hurtles. Familiar faces from book one make cameo appearances and help move the plot along. Lots of hot chemistry and misunderstandings but self doubts get in the way till a thrilling showdown after the Mardi Gras krewe’s party. Plot twists and flip keep you off balance and entertained.
3.75 stars Why are the heroines in this series so hard-headed about their abilities? They’ve had them their entire lives and are not only afraid of them, but refuse to embrace them or accept advice from others with more experience. This story was suspenseful, however it was pretty transparent who the culprit was, though there was a bit of an additional twist. One other thing I noticed is the sex scenes are very vanilla, and missionary. Outside of that, I have enjoyed both of the first two books and will be moving on to the third.
I liked this couple so much more than the other one, but it was stil a bit of a slow read, but I loved all the wonderland stuff! Now I'm curious about the rest of the cast! Don't Trish, Jason and Eric get their own book??
My favourite in this series so far, loved how it kept up the suspense the entire time, and loved the twist at the end, even if I already guessed, it was great to see how everything unraveled. Also glad we got rid of the entire obnoxious ignorant protagonist pattern from the previous two books, cause boy I was over it. Excited for the next book, will this series finish with a bang? Can't wait to find out.
I can’t even imagine how exhausting and confusing it’d be to have premonitions like that. And with her family telling her it was a curse and be afraid of it, no wonder she resented it and avoided it when she could. I did have an inkling who the villain is early on, but the hiding of the sneaky was well done. This was well written and I enjoyed it.
For me this book kept pulling me in and making me wonder what was for real and what wasn’t. Since Sydney has powers and so do her close friends/co-workers you can already expect some things to be affected by them. But really, can you learn to control your visions and change the future?
For what it’s worth, I’d love a book 3 with these characters!
I enjoyed that the story was set in New Orleans. I liked that they had different abilities. The part I am really having trouble with all of her books is that the character s all "shuffle". They never walk, run, amble or saunter. It seems to me that a person that shuffles is unsure or hesitant. I know this sounds stupid but this really annoys me.
This series is so exciting with a great storyline and very interesting characters abound. It was nice to see Sydney and Blake able to work out their relationship but also heighten their powers.
Sydney and Blake definitely have a past to get over. Throw in all the twists ad turns in the now it is definitely an interesting read. Really enjoy the characters and unique storyline
Imagine life as a clairvoyant. Date a guy once and see exactly how the relationship will end. But, not all visions come true, at least some visions can be more metaphorical than physical. How to tell the difference when it counts?
Carrie Pulkinen has away of pulling you into a story. Excellent tale of love and fear with plenty of mystery, fear and danger is put into this book so you are left feeling that you are part of the story. So very good.
When they say love is blind they really mean it. This is one of those where you want to shout out loud at these they don't see but of course we are only looking in
This book was good, even though I had the bad gad figured out pretty easily, I wanted to read to the end so Sydney and Blake could get their happily for now ending.
Love & Omens is the second book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series by Carrie Pulkinen. You will notice while reading my review, that the word “love” is used frequently- I apologize (sorry not sorry)! But I freaking LOVE this book/series!!! The first book, Love & Ghosts was completely captivating- so there was no way I was missing this instalment. I couldn’t wait for it to release, and as with the first one, I was absolutely thrilled to finally get my hands on it. This is a fantastic paranormal romance- with ghosts, second chances, visions, omens, supernatural elements, new beginnings, paranormal investigations, mystery, suspense, action, danger, drama, obsession, and plenty of sizzle….. which is all set against the vibrant, colourful and mystical backdrop that is New Orleans. I really didn’t think it was possible to love a book more than I loved the first instalment- so I had incredibly high expectations for this story. But, we are talking Carrie Pulkinen here, so it’s no real surprise that she absolutely nailed it!! I love this story just as much as the first, if not more. The characters are fully realised, interesting, and endearing individuals, who really brought this story to life. I particularly love that there are recurring characters from book one, who we get to ‘catch up with’ as well (and even one from another loved series). They were really interesting and very well developed. I love Sydney and Blake- OMG they were just soooo perfect together, even if they tried to resist their chemistry at the beginning. I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through! And I love how Ms. Pulkinen kept the tension levels turned up to ‘high’- ramping up the suspense and weaving in a few twists as well. It kept me glued to the pages- avidly reading along to discover how everything would play out. The ‘action’ and intensity were exhilarating- but it was the emotive quality and the camaraderie between the characters which really gave the story an added depth- and making it truly memorable. I have said this before, and I will say it again here: I have a severe addiction to Ms. Pulkinen’s work- and it’s one that I am more than happy to indulge- no rehab needed, EVER! She’s definitely one of my favourite authors, and I will never get enough of her work! I’m so looking forward to the next book!
