Nightmare's Rage

Rate this book
Killers aren’t born, they’re made. Seventeen years ago, a savage murder ripped Tess Williams’s world apart. Today, she finally gets a lead on the killer, so after seventeen long, torturous years, she’s out to meet her maker. All guns blazing.

Unfortunately, that monster is now a feared crime boss, surrounded by brutal gangsters, hired thugs, and ruthless assassins. If Tess is to reach him, she must go through all of them. But how?

Outnumbered and outgunned, Tess knows this will be the job that puts her in the ground, however, she doesn’t care as long as she nails her target first. Not a problem, if she had a small army. But alone?

And just when she thinks things can’t get any worse, the killer discovers she’s tracking him – the hunter becomes the hunted.

With the clock ticking, Tess’s only hope could lie with someone she knows. Someone she fears. Someone she can’t trust.

Today, Tess’s violent story will come to an electrifying end. But whose end will it be?

Steve has three passions: anti-heroes, animals, and travel. To date, he's visited 60 countries and has adopted five homeless cats, but he's yet to prowl the streets in the dead of night to beat up bad guys (though he still daydreams about doing so, but who doesn't?).

In pursuit of adventure, he's cage-dived with great white sharks, sparred with a monk at a Shaolin temple, and explored exotic locales such as Machu Picchu, Pompeii, and the Great Wall of China.

Fortunately, his passions fuel his fiction. He loves to pepper his action-packed thrillers with the exotic places he's explored and the unusual encounters he's experienced, while his dog stories glow with the love and companionship that will warm the heart of any animal lover.

More recently, while on his travels, Steve came across two true stories from the Holocaust which moved him so deeply, he has based two novels on them.

He lives in the North of England with his partner, Ania, the great-great-great niece of the 1924 winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, and two stray black cats who visited their garden one day and liked it so much, they moved into the house. Luckily, they graciously allowed Steve and Ania to carry on living there, even allowing Steve to continue paying the mortgage to give him a sense of purpose.

If you love stories of four-legged heroes, tales from histories darkest hour, or books with pulse-pounding action, you'll love Steve's three series. He wrote them for book lovers just like you!

Steve Lee continues to bring his main characters into even more precarious situations and keep me awake all night. I simply cannot put the kindle down when I'm reading this series. Each time I start the next book I tell myself I will NOT read until the wee hours and I finish that book. And yet, each new book brings more heart pounding, fast paced action, story lines to make you reflect on your beliefs, and new pieces of the past for Tess, the main character. Did I ever think I would be able to feel empathy for a vigilante, nope! But I have come to care, cheer on, worry over and praise Tess more with each new book. Nightmare's Rage is a perfect example of the dilemma faced by Tess. How do you stop evil without becoming evil yourself? What is your moral line in the sand you will not cross? Can you live with yourself if you cross it for good? Are we willing to step up and give all for strangers, and if so at what cost to ourselves. If you finally get a chance to reach your goal you've striven for, so close you can see and taste and feel it, how far do you go to finish that goal. If you have given everything for what you believe, is it possible not to risk it all to finish - and at what cost? Steve Lee has created the perfect storm, action - thriller - strong characters - and well developed storylines. I cannot devour the new installment in the series fast enough, and yet I try to read slowly because by the last page I do NOT want this book to end. Each and every book in this series is the same emotional rollercoaster. This is not a comfy murder storyline. This is in your face - what do you believe in and how far will you go! And I'm loving going there with each new book. Kudos Mr. Lee! As always I look forward to the next offering in the series. As always, at the end I want to tell Tess to be safe, be strong, and keep fighting for what you believe in. And as a long time nerdy kid - before there were nerdy kids - I can't wait to see what new surprises BOMB comes up with!

An explosive installment of this vigilante series where Tess pushes forwards...or is it backwards...confronting her past.

Further revelations and agonies, more battles, deeper questions and explorations make this story one of the best in the series.

Some answers but not all and I can only wonder what will happen, what decisions and what fate will befall this amazing character.

A great read with real insight and wisdom from a strong and very likeable protagonist; if only more people followed her philosophy.

No spoilers from me, but I will say - read them all!

Highly recommended.

Tess has done her very best to be ready as she faces off with her nemesis, and willingly lays her life on the line to put her past demons to rest once and for all as she decides to try to put her nemesis to rest for eternity. VERY exciting read. Suspenseful and had me by the heart which was pounding. Steve N Lee doing his usual wonderful and skillful way to present the reader with another great read in Nightmare’s Rage as rage rages ON. Waiting with anticipation for the next installment! The action in this one was cutting edge. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book!

In Nightmare's Rage, Tess finally meets the man who I firmly believed set her on her life path by murdering the only family she had, her grandfather. The 'bombshell' discovery towards the end of the book proves how wrong it is to assume anything. There was another devastating event that occurred that fateful day to which Tess desperately needed an answer. Happy reading. Annemarie

Tess is hunting the normal bad guys plus we learn why she does this as she chases the one who "created" her. As always, you won't want to put it down. I didn't.

I have the next 2 in my reading queue.

Another great “Tess” adventure

This book proved to be a quick read as I had to know what happened next and just kept reading. The end of this story comes quickly and leaves you hanging. Because of this, my next task is to immediately start reading the next book in this collection.

Book 7 of the series delves into the beginning stages of our Tess finally getting to seek her own personal retribution. This series stays complicated, impossible to predict! We are kept on edge throughout the book to see how far into her past she will be able to seek vengeance.
