Rate this book
Enjoy this sweet romance from the Country Bride & Cowboy Boots series.

Misty Epperson has her hands full with a toddler and a full-time job helping her billionaire brother, Ty, run The Epperson Foundation, a charitable organization he founded with his lottery jackpot. But all the chubby baby cheeks and conference calls in the world can’t drive away the emptiness hovering over her heart. She yearns for love, but Misty is wary. The last time she gave her heart away, it was returned to her battered and broken.

When Misty meets Clydesdale wrangler, Travis Harper, she’s drawn to his quiet strength and easy smile. But Travis quickly makes his hatred of rich people known and Misty’s brother is one of the richest men in the state. When Ty interferes with the Clydesdale’s grazing pasture in the name of environmental protection, will Travis consider it guilt by association or can Misty break this sexy cowboy with the giant chip on his shoulder?

There are so many different ways for two characters to meet and I have several favorite ways. One of them is found in this story and it's a case of mistaken identity. All too often, prejudices go both ways, which is case-in-point with Travis. He works hard with horses, but can't stand richy rich people and doesn't keep that a secret. Although he does have this chip on his shoulder, he's still a likable guy, because his intense passions and loyalties to what is fair and right shine through.

The way he meets Misty is pretty funny and it's understandable why she doesn't want him to know who she is, but she knows both sides of the tracks and has had a difficult past, especially the last few years. I love to see people using their money for good, even though it can be taken the wrong way. Those differing points of view are good to consider.

When their two worlds collide and clash in an explosion of sparks (in more than one way), I was completely captivated, wanting to see exactly how it would all be played out. Yes, I'm nosy and I want the nitty gritty details of it all and I got exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. This is one story that will leave a reader in love and with a goofy smile on one's face.

Content: mild romance

A sweet story of two people burned by past loves. Misty is a single Mom and Travis gave up on his dream to be a veterinarian. They hit it off but when Travis finds out her brother is rich and his foundation is hurting his employer, he gets upset with Misty. It will take time and desperate measures to get this couple together where they belong. A nice short story that is fast paced. I received a complimentary copy and I am reviewing voluntarily.

Misty, the heroine of Horses, Hayrides and Husbands, is the sister of Ty, who was introduced in The Lucky Billionaire.  Misty also appeared in that story, and it is there that we are introduced to her circumstances in being a single mom and the drama that occurred with the baby's father.  Interestingly enough, though some of those details are recounted here, the whole drama was not even mentioned, with the exception of a small hint of Misty being nervous about her sister walking back to her house alone.

That said, this story really is a stand-alone story, but reading of it would certainly be enhanced by first reading Ty's story.  (When I finished that book, my first thought was that I really wanted to hear what happens next for Misty, so I was very excited to hear that this was the next story Jeanette Lewis was writing!)

Both Misty and Travis had been burned by "love", and both felt a great attraction from the moment they met.  I enjoyed the way that Misty doted on her sweet baby, and felt that Travis and his care for Misty and Wyatt, and even jumped right in to spend time with Wyatt was sweet.

There were several events in the story that had me assuming things would go a different direction than they did.  I was not disappointed, just thought

Overall, I would say that the story was cozy and sweet.  It is a good book to curl up with on a rainy evening.

Don't you just love the fun cover for this one! I love the chickens and the red boots, the whole thing just fits the main character in this one, Misty!

I love Misty in this book! She's made some choices that she regrets, but instead of dwelling on that she just moves on and takes one day at a time. I love the way she's such a good mom to her little guy, Wyatt. She also works very hard with her brother Ty. I love the way she met Travis and they immediately hit it off, even though he was a bit gruff to her at first. It was too bad that she felt she had to lie to him just a little about who she was and what she did. But with the way he acted when she met him, it's a no brainer that she had to!

Travis is a good guy, but he has an amazing dislike for anyone rich, thus the little lie that Misty had to tell. I love the way he goes out of his way to help everyone around him, from his boss to Misty someone he'd barely met. I loved the way he treated Misty's son, it was obvious that he was a great guy and that he'd be an amazing dad, way better than any of Misty's other dates or even Wyatt's birth father. I love that he comes up with cute dates that he can take both Wyatt and Misty on. The chemistry between these two characters was so fun to read about!

This book has a really cute plot and great characters! It's a cute, quick read that I really enjoyed. I didn't want to stop reading about Misty!

When I read The Lucky Billionaire, one of the Destination Billionaire romances, I fell head over heels in love with the entire Epperson family! All I could think was, “This family has more stories to tell”. And, YAY!!! this is Misty’s story. Horses, Hayrides & Husbands would be quite enjoyable as a standalone book. However, it is even more fun knowing the characters and getting to become better acquainted with them! Misty is one of my favorite heroines. She has made some poor choices, but she acknowledges them, finds blessings in her situation and works hard to be the best mom that she can be. Misty is someone that I would love to have as a friend!

Now that I’ve read Horses, Hayrides & Husbands, I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the Country Brides & Cowboy Boots series!

This was a great book to escape into and just enjoy! Misty is spunky and feisty. After reading The Lucky Billionaire, I already loved her and couldn’t wait to see her get a happy ending. She had been through so much and deserved a great guy. Travis is just that! He’s hard working, passionate and kind. And he’s so good with kids! He and Misty are such a perfect match. And Wyatt adds an undeniable cuteness factor!

The book stands alone, but you will enjoy seeing Ty and Holland again if you’ve read The Lucky Billionaire. And if you haven’t, you’ll probably want to read it after this to learn their story. :)

I received a copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.

A Really Good Read
Misty and Travis meet at an event to which her brother was invited. Travis was in charge of the horses and wagon, used for hayrack rides. There is an instant attraction between them, and they begin dating. She discovers he is “anti-rich people,” and doesn’t give him a full disclosure of who she’s related to. Soon, there is friction, and she is sure it won’t change, so she tries to forget him. It is a wonderful story, and the author weaves a beautiful conclusion. You might guess at the ending; but I am pretty sure you will be surprised by the twists and turns it takes to get there!

Clean country contemporary romance - when sweet quick romance for treat warm fuzzy feeling is needed.

When you need a woman that smart and sass and speaks her mind then Misty is ready to do just that. Tyler already set in his was think rich people suck almost forces Misty out. Misty tells a little lie and changes her last name so Tyler doesn't know her brother is a billionaire so he will give her a chance. Totally a great book for someone just dumped that there always a reason, not the perfect fit. Someone needs a warm happy and simple romance. V0, S0 sweet of kisses n cute baby is a you need.

More please? Jeanette Lewis is a wonderful author and never shys away from writing characters with deep pasts and great emotion. Horses, Hayrides and Husbands tried to have all the depth, dialog and plot of a full length novel, but it left me wanting more. Misty is such an awesome character with great personality, that I want more of her. The same can be said for Travis, he is kind with a major chip on his shouder, and while you get a glimpse of their past I wanted more. As a short story, this was a well written, cute story, I could feel Lewis wanted to add so much but was limited by pages.

A Little Too Easy

Misty, Travis, and the Clydesdales. Good concept, good build-up, and then a rapid slide downhill.
This could have been a fine story, if it had been treated differently. Instead, everything was too easily resolved. Instead of playing out to an even slightly believable conclusion, the ending was formulaic. Hardly even formulaic, in fact. Many genre romances play at least a little more slowly,,giving a little more space to allow the characters to get up a tree and have stones flung at them by the universe. Just as the story was winding up interestingly it wound down flatly.
Recommended for those who prefer formula over substance.

I enjoyed this book. I love when I get a glimpse of characters from previous books. I liked Misty in The Lucky Billionaire so I was interested to find out she was getting her own story. The chemistry between Travis and Misty is sweet. Travis is a gentleman and he is cute with Misti's son Wyatt. Misti is spunky and fun. This is a quick cozy read.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. A great, heartwarming story, with themes of a single mom, rich versus poor and past experiences, and a herd of Clydesdales play a part in this plot. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend it.

Cute story

I thought the book was good. Travis was hung up on rich people to the extent of cutting off his possible relationship. Nice ending. I like the story.

I enjoyed the book. It was short, and sweet. Really pointed out what happens, when we have preconceived ideas. They are usually wrong. Wonderful how Travis was with the baby.

Cute story. Travis and Misty both have a rough past to heal from. They have similar interests and ideals of importance, just have to work through the quick judgments.
