Katherine Rundell was born in 1987 and grew up in Africa and Europe. In 2008 she was elected a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. Her first book, The Girl Savage, was born of her love of Zimbabwe and her own childhood there; her second, Rooftoppers, was inspired by summers working in Paris and by night-time trespassing on the rooftops of All Souls. She is currently working on her doctorate alongside an adult novel.
The Explorer was just wow. It was so good. I’m not going to lie but at first it was just a bit boring and nothing tragic or big was happening but as it went on, I got really close to the characters and it was cool to see how they survived in the Amazon! I didn’t want that book to end! When the characters were scared, so was I! Just wow!
This review should be a 2.5.It was a good book but in the first half of the book I found myself really bored. It was as if barely anything happened in the first half and the second rushed by.I did enjoy the second half of the book though as it was fast paced and overall good.THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE EXPLORER.
I read the Explorer but not the other book. The Explorer is a very good book I recommend it to anyone! My favourite part was when Max got bitten by bullet ants and Fred had to drive the plane to the doctors

I loved this book about how the kids had to survive in the amazon with nothing but a small shelter at the start then the story grew when they found a hidden city that a man had been living in for many years.
Everything Katherine writes is just wonderful in my own little opinion, fabulous story telling, glorious use of vocabulary and language, great friendships, always hope and joy in there too.
