The Emperor's Conscience #1

The Emperor's Conscience

Rate this book
Part Guardian—part Priest, Evanar Hostric is a broken mage with a dark side.

Traveling to answer a mysterious offer from the Emperor, he finds himself the enemy of one of the most powerful nobles in the land.

But after discovering the Archduke’s secret—that he is selling children to his wealthy friends to fund a rebellion—that suits Evan just fine.

Locked in a race to save those that society ignored, he is beleaguered at every step and finds himself more and more willing to do horrible things in the pursuit of right.

Evanar Hostric is the Emperor’s Conscience, but does that leave room for one of his own?

Dam that was fun. Great twists, action and interesting main characters!
I especially loved the moral cunundrums and satisfying way the author navigated them.
This was a nice new gem I got lucky to find. I actually put Arcane Ascension 3 and Cycle of Galand 8 on hold, two of my favorites.

The Narration of the audiobook is very good! Trust me I know cause I've listened to hundreds audiobooks.
Yet now I have bought to READ on kindle the other books since audiobook recording is not out and don't want to wait. That's a VERY rare thing. Last time I did that was for one of the King's Dark Tidings book by Kel Kade.

So thank you Michael K. Coombs for a great starting novel and look forward to the hinted larger scope in the following books.
