Tranquility is a Source Point Pressure graphic novel written by David C. Hayes and Frank Byrns and art Kurt Belcher.

In a rural Pacific Northwest town, two hunters are brutally killed with one’s last words being “Sasquatch.” Only one thing is for certain, whatever killed the two men was rabid. The sheriff shuts down the roads during the town’s busiest weekend of camping season in hopes of saving people before it’s too late.

A good portion of this book’s plot is basically the movie Jaws, but substitute a rabid Bigfoot for the man-eating shark. It works, but would have been much more interesting if the characters were given more personality. All of the characters in the book are your typical archetypes that you find in any horror story. The main problem with the book is the art. The whole book is black and white ink with very sketchy a mix of cartoon and caricature styles. There is no depth and some of the panels look like one of those Magic Eye pictures where you have to find out what is happening in the image. If the book was colored it would have helped immensely.

As a Bigfoot fan, it’s hard to find much to recommend here. It had the potential to be a lot better with more interesting characters, more substance, and better art.
